responsible living

Watch the song everyone cried about is probably a response song to ‘Long Live’ and Taylor is gonna sing about how she has loved fighting dragons with us all this time and I’m gonna slingshot myself into an active volcano

anonymous asked:

Try looking past the people against "all lives matter" and maybe that will help you understand where the people who support it are coming from. And it was usually said in response to "black lives matter", that's kinda the point.

“I think this issue needs attention” / “don’t you mean every issue needs attention”

Just something like #AsianLivesMatter, while it could seem like something of a distraction of cash-in, it would still come across as a clear ally movement to BLM, if that’s what they wanted.

Either way, they need a new hashtag now.

This post was triggered by something that @roachpatrol said over here about the expectation for girls to be sweet and clean and harmless:

Holy shit, if I was eight years younger and wandering into fandom for the first time, I can guarantee that the culture right now would’ve fucked me up and ground me down and taken away all my healthy outlets.

Picture: you are a girl at the tender young age of mumbledyteen. Up until this point you have been taught that all dark thoughts are literally hand-delivered into your head by the devil, and that the only correct method of dealing with negativity is to ignore them and pray harder. Concentrate on what is good and righteous and pure to the exclusion of all else, this is how you be a good person.

You are also a fully-functioning human being, one who can feel stressed or lonely or angry or any number of bad things. Mostly, with emotions that are still working themselves out, you feel this rumbling, white-hot white noise under everything, all the time. Sometimes it rolls in like a thunderstorm and everything else gets drowned out, and sometimes it’s only quietly muttering in the distance. Either way it’s always there, and the sound shreds uncomfortably at the inside of your brain.

When you were younger, before you were in charge of your own media consumption, your brain would shred up a myriad of saccharine stories to try and match the noise of the shredder in your head. Bad things happening, people getting hurt, characters trapped in unhealthy relationships of all kinds.

Fanfiction, the product of a hundred thousand other mumbledyteens whose brains are all screaming the same way, makes something in your brain go ping

Unfortunately, if the planet had ever been united on any single message, it was probably that no matter how you feel: 1) your feelings weren’t unique 2) they didn’t matter 3) they didn’t matter because they weren’t unique, they were shared among millions of hysterical, worthless teenaged girls just like you.

Fandom was confirmation of the first, but (with some hiccups along the way) outright rejection of the last two. Fuck you, our feelings do matter, and this is a story just for us.

A disclaimer: these aren’t good stories, otherwise they wouldn’t have to be defended. Their flavor of topic is not within societally acceptable bounds. Fictional characters have sex and get tortured and raped and abused, but their screaming harmonizes with the pitch of the shredder when it’s burrowing deepest.

As a teenager I never thought that my feelings were important enough to deal with, but these stories let me look at them sideways. Audience catharsis is the whole point of tragedy, after all.

And hell, these days I’m a happy, healthy adult who barely even has the urge to go looking for whump fic when I’ve had a bad week. I’m not going to forget just how much bad stuff that fic helped me air out, though, not ever. (Not to mention that thanks to all of those abuse!fics, I can recognize an unhealthy relationship at 500 paces, even if the fictional abuse was depicted as something loving and romantic. Abusers in real life don’t go around with helpful warning tags on their sleeves anyway.)

But holy shit, can you imagine if I’d found fandom as it is today.

Yes, your church is right, your family is right. Horrible things in stories are only there because they were written by horrible people, and they’re only popular because horrible people read them. The very concepts they address corrupt everything they touch.

That shredder in your head, the one that takes innocent cartoons but then shits out sadness and mayhem? That’s disgusting, you’re disgusting. How dare you think about minors having underaged sex, you minor? How dare you consider another person getting hurt? Your feelings don’t matter, they aren’t unique, they’re shared with all kinds of worthless shitbags just like you.

Every ounce of what you read and write and enjoy is going to be weighed for sin and tested for purity. You know, just like the rest of your life, except this time there’s no deity who’s handing out second chances.

Maybe that’s what bothers me most about all of this. It’s the same petty fandom bullshit as always, but “you’re wrong for liking a ship because IT WILL NEVER BE CANON” is a hell of a lot easier to laugh off when you’re young than “you’re wrong for liking a ship because YOU’RE AN ABUSIVE PEDOPHILE AND IF SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS IT’S YOUR FAULT FOR PERPETUATING IT.”

My fault, my bad thoughts, no outlet for any of them. The message to repress all the bad things so I can look like a good person, but my brain is so full of unprocessed shit that it’s solidified. Nobody actually saved any real children, but my brain sure is getting a second dose of fucked-up.

Are the people getting attacked going to be okay, will they be able to go and address their braingremlins somewhere else? I’d also ask if the people doing the attacking are okay, with all of the denial and repression they must deal with, but it seems like they’ve got venting pretty well handled by taking it out on strangers.

Hey, c’mon, calm down friends. I bet I’ve read a story that’s got a character screaming at just the same pitch you are.

It helps to read one of those and harmonize your voices, I promise.

Allow yourself to become who you are meant to become. In life, others will develop differently than you. They will form a different set of opinions. They will simply be different. However, that is natural, for everyone is called to become their own person.
You be you, regardless of anyone else. Don’t allow the differences that may exist persuade you to hide your true self.

Overwatch and the Great Retconning

So, I think there’s something fascinating going on with Overwatch Lore. I think we’re watching Blizzard rewrite unrevealed lore live in response to fan feedback.

And I think it centers around Gabriel Reyes.

Originally, we were presented with the narrative that Reyes was the original Strike Team leader during the Omnic Crisis, was passed over for promotion. Worked with Jack and Ana for twenty years, then at some point got so resentful that he led an armed rebellion against them, resulting in the base exploding and him coming back as an angry smog ghost.

I have a feeling that the canceled First Strike graphic novel was entwined with this narrative, hinting at Gabriel’s future jealousy and villainy.

Except, this is the age of social media and fandom engagement. People rejected that narrative, mostly because on it’s own, it is really stupid. People latched onto Gabriel Reyes as a character, and the idea that he brings down Overwatch out of base envy kind of ruins him. Why have a simply EVIL character when you can have a COMPLEX character? It also implies that a good chunk of Overwatch sided with Gabe over the issue of who go the statue and the big blue coat.

So, first strike was canceled, and we’ve been seeing Gabriel portrayed as still close with Jack and Ana.

And now, I theorize.

Gabriel WAS responsible for the fall of Overwatch, but not because he was mad about a promotion from twenty years ago, but because of a fundamental disagreement about what Overwatch was.

The new comic, Uprising, contains a few key moments.

First: Blackwatch is suspended, and Overwatch isn’t allowed to operate in Britain, but Gabriel sends McCree anyway, showing that he’s more concerned with doing good than following the rules.

Second: The entire comic is based around the struggle between following orders, and helping people who need help. Jack has a base full of agents trained to handle omnic extremists holding hostages in central London, but his hands are tied.

Third: This panel

The implication seems to be that Overwatch wasn’t successful because they had the best gear, or the most skill. Overwatch succeeded because people got desperate enough to let them operate without oversight, free from politics and egos, dedicated entirely to the goal of winning the war.

That was the Overwatch Strike Team that Gabriel Reyes led. A group of soldiers answerable to nobody, willing to do whatever it took, use whatever methods got results. Maybe they were the ones who blacked out Mexico, depriving the Omnics of power. Maybe they leveled chunks of Rio, gave the Outback to the Omnics,

And that’s why Jack Morrison got the statue and the big blue coat. Because, while Gabriel Reyes may have won the war, he probably crossed a lot of lines to do so.  As Overwatch was transitioning from a wartime necessity to a global peacekeeping force, they needed somebody more controllable at the helm.

Which brings us to the Fall of Overwatch. Gabriel Reyes has been running Blackwatch his way, doing whatever he feels is necessary without asking permission. But, it’s coming back to bite them, they’re being attacked on all sides, Ana has faked her death, leaving Jack and Gabe to battle over the future of Overwatch.

Jack holds to the dream that Overwatch can return to it’s prior status as a beloved global peacekeeping force, working with the UN, smiling and waving for the cameras. He’s crossed some lines (Like sending the team to London), but he thinks that was a one-time necessity. If asked to stay out, Overwatch should stay out.

Gabriel on the other hand doesn’t care what people think. He LOVES that Jack sent the team to London, he HATES that Jack waited so long. He doesn’t think that Overwatch should be limited by the whims of politicians. He wants it to operate like they did during the Omnic Crisis, a free-roaming band of heroes doing what needed to be done.
Basically, Lawful Good vs Chaotic Good. That’s the conflict that splits Overwatch.

As for the Explosion? Maybe it was caused by the fight, maybe it was Talon.

Now, post-overwatch, their opinions have shifted. Jack, now Soldier: 76, thinks that Overwatch was a failed idea from the start. Any attempts to rebuild it will just lead to the same problem: Oversite vs Action. Ironically, he’s now become exactly what Gabriel wanted Overwatch to be. He’s a vigilante, operating outside the law, doing what he feels is necessary to make the world a better place.

As for Gabriel? He’s Reaper now, and that’s amplified everything, but the main feeling is one of betrayal. From his perspective, everybody that didn’t side with him cared more about playing politics and looking good than actually doing their jobs. They betrayed him, Jack especially. Not that Reaper cares about making the world a better place. He’s mad that Jack turned against him, mad that he was turned into Reaper, Mad in general.

But not about the Statue. It was never about the Statue.

Stop. Take a couple of moments right now to write down all of your positive qualities. All of them; each and every one. Once you do this, really take a look at what you have written. Is it accurate? Have you truly given yourself enough credit? Enough self respect? Do you deserve to give yourself and all of your many traits more of an acknowledgment?

Growing Pains- From one archetype to another

Aries: The Brash to The Inspiring

Aries can go through this kind of awkward stage where they feel like they are finding their footing, finding that right balance between outright aggression to assertiveness, to being able to wake the people up around them and provoke a reaction. They know how to go from a full, fledged flame to a flickering spark that ignites something in others, yet without that clumsy intimidation. They are the perfect example of a personality whose biggest fall, whose impulsive reactions can turn to something magical in a little more maturity. They are the ones that teach us to stand back up when we fall.

Taurus: The Materialist to The Grounded

Taurus can be people of excess from a personality that loves luxury and comfort, yet add this to their sensual nature, there can become parts of their life that are defined by seeking satisfaction purely in the tangible realm, where they become trapped in this feeling of want yet perpetually dissatisfied when they seem to get it. Yet, when they bloom into something beyond this, they are often a grounding presence in the lives of others, someone that can take a moment to stop and really soak in their environment, to appreciate the simple pleasures of this Earth. They often grow into people that learn how to practice gratitude, thanking the Sun for rising in the morning.

Gemini: The Jumbled to The Teacher

Gemini are never consistent, adding to their cluttered charm and chaotic charisma, finding knowledge and curiosity in everything from the smallest piece of trivia to the most profound study of governing laws. They are adept at being receptive to information in general, yet often they grow into a kind of messenger of sorts, someone that finds themselves in their element while educating others. They manage to deliver information in an interesting, witty, adaptable manner, where no matter the view, ability or learning style of their students, there is a side of them that is compatible with each individual.

Cancer: The Weary to The Open Arms

Cancer can grow to feel that their instinct to often take care of others is somehow a detriment, a weakness perhaps, often through external influences. Yet there is a time when they may just break through this barrier, to take their natural understanding of the human condition and psyche into the service of others, which in return releases resistance they have to themselves and their own nature. They often grow to be compassionate, creative and receptive individuals, where that defensiveness and weariness in themselves can turn to traits that are often missing in this world, to a kindness and care much like those figures in books we feel at home with.

Leo: The Egoist to The Giving

Leo can be very in touch with their sense of ego, with who they are and what they want out of life, maybe even to the detriment of the people around them at times. There is a demanding quality in them, something that wants the whole world and more, yet through growth and maturity, they manage to somehow flip this with the knowledge that if they want so greatly, then others must to, an awareness that goes beyond themselves. With this often comes golden generosity, the ability to take with the expectation that they will also give too. They want to feel like number one, but they grow to understand that maybe so do other people too.

Virgo: The Cluttered to The Healer

Virgo can feel like they have heightened senses, the ability to zoom in on the fine details to the disadvantage to the broad horizon, maybe even leaving them with the knowledge of anything that goes amiss, no matter how small. They are often high strung and process things very quickly, a jitteriness to them at times. Yet this ability to really see and understand the details can give them this natural healing ability, the talent of extending their hand to those that may struggle with daily tasks or living to a high quality in the day to day. This should and cannot be undervalued, and they know this. They often have an intuitive knowledge of the human body, natural remedies and more importantly, simple kindness.

Libra: The Swayed to The Just

Libra can find that keeping the peace feels better that sticking to their own will, that creating a charming atmosphere of compromise is easier than bringing about conflict. Yet, this can be a wonderful trait for diffusing anger or aggression, of being able to unite the left with the right and still be able to smile at the end of it. As they grow however, they often find a value system to live by, a way of judging the world around them but with an open mind and heart, whether this is to do with the law or their own code of morality. They appreciate and believe in a system whereby everyone is treated well and fairly, but ultimately judge things justly too.

Scorpio: The Secretive to The Liberator

Scorpio can be reserved to the extreme, building walls between themselves and the people around them, yet this often comes about because of their empathic nature, of needing a break from soaking in the atmosphere and the emotions of the people around them. As they go through personal growth, they can intuit the motives and the thoughts of the people around them, bringing the darkest and most unappealing aspects of ourselves into the light. They can grow into people that can find beauty in the parts of ourselves that we hide away, teaching us to release resistance to them. With this, they can be our liberators.

Sagittarius: The Irresponsible to The Mentor

Sagittarius find their spirit in living as freely as they can, to losing the plans in place of something that gives them the liberty to live how they want to, when they want to. They don’t do well with too much structure or restriction, yet in others eyes, this can lead to a recklessness, an inability to obey the rules of others and instead live without responsibility. Yet, as they grow older and under the guidance of their home house, the ninth house of higher learning and travel, they often find themselves as a spirit that seeks wisdom in many forms, and beyond this, seeks to give this wisdom to others. Their infectious spirit can fill the pages of books, but also fill the minds of those that admire them.

Capricorn: The Restricted to The Visioned

Capricorn know the struggles of their ruling planet Saturn, the planet of lessons, as they are often a reserved personality that can feel like they have to leap over one hurdle to the next to really get what they want out of life, like they break out of their shell time and time again, or simply outgrow it. Yet, Capricorn are also defined a lot by their dreams, something that we may not at first consider for such a tangible orientated and practical energy. Their striving motion, that moving forward with method, intelligence and wit can have them looking at the top of the mountain, not just the mountain itself. If there is something to win, a title to hold, or a personal goal to reach, then trust Capricorn to achieve this.

Aquarius: The Rebel to The Activist

Aquarius are system breakers, catalysts to change, yet sometimes they can enjoy the pure thrill of destroying the archaic, whether it is for a righteous cause or not. They can flourish in the destruction itself rather than what comes after it. Through their growth however, they often learn how to use this nature in a way that paves the way to something better, that lends itself to those that live without a voice or those that are vulnerable. They learn the art of protest, of holding people to account to proceed into a more just and virtuous society. In this, they are not denying that urge to shake things up, to hold a mirror to society, but are also actively ready for what comes after.

Pisces: The Vague to The Transcendent

Pisces often don’t obey the rules, the norms of this world, not to be actively rebellious, but because they can see so many different ways of doing things. For each person they meet, another idea seems to grow, yet when they wish to communicate this to others, it can seem other worldly, strange, too vague for practical application. Pisces often learn how to transcend these struggles and criticisms, to show us new ways of existing from a higher perspective but with a caring and compassionate heart. Vagueness, nothing of solid form can turn to things we have only ever dreamed of. They often long for utopia, and when they transcend their restrictions or worries, they can introduce a piece of it right here, much the innovator.

The criminalization of substance abuse kills far more people than it helps.

The solution to addiction will never be to lock up addicts and hope they stay sober when released, the solution will always be to provide them access to the resources needed to keep them alive until they are ready to seek the resources that will help them quit.

Saturn in Your Natal Chart

Saturn in Aries : Mercury, as the esoteric ruler of Aries, blends its energies with those of Saturn allowing the Third Ray of Active Intelligence to work well with Mercury’s urge to communicate. The Soul-centered purpose for this position is involved with the need to discipline and structure the mind for the birthing of new ideas. Problems can arise if there is a lack of responsibility in the proper use of mental energy. Another factor that may inhibit soul growth is the habit of dominating other people with one’s thoughts for the purpose of personal gain. When the right use of will is coupled with the right use of mind, this can be an excellent position.

Saturn in the First House: A very strong need to express the responsibility of one’s Soul Purpose. This is an incarnation in which a sense of personal limitation can be transformed into a sense of self-discipline so that the nature and structure of the personality may conform to the will of the Soul.

Saturn in Taurus: This position can be most helpful in structuring those ideas that bring (or inhibit) material prosperity into one’s life. If one is polarized in the desire nature of the personality, such a manifestation of resources will block the wealth of the Soul from exteriorizing in one’s life. The Soul-centered purpose has a great deal to do with harnessing material possessions and the treasures of the Earth for the service of the Soul and the benefit of humanity. Saturn in Vulcan’s sign (esoteric ruler of Taurus), will break up and destroy anything in the formative world that prevents the Higher Self from externalizing.

Saturn in the Second House: The test here is one of personal values. What do we value in ourself, in others, and in the world in general? How to we go about expressing these values? Do these values inhibit Soul awareness or give us the right sense of responsibility to live in our truth?

Saturn in Gemini: Venus is the esoteric ruler of The Twins and her energy blends with Saturn in this placement. The Soul-centered purpose is for the individual to become an agent for the Law of Right Human Relationships. There is a need to understand mutual responsibilities in relationship and to use the mind as a loving tool of communication. The achievement of harmonious relationships is very much the goal. In this respect, an individual with Saturn in Gemini (especially if afflicted to Venus in the natal chart) may experience a certain sense of restriction in his or her ability to communicate. The dualities and crises in one’s relationships are but the training ground for the wider communicative aspirations of the Soul.

Saturn in the Third House: This can be an excellent position for the right use of the mind for the purpose of the Higher Self and also bestows a tendency towards being self-disciplined towards the goals of intellectual development. If afflicted, it reveals a narrow perspective and the urge to limit and control all forms of communication.

Saturn in Cancer: This placement often reveals that the surrounding family or fundamental psychological circumstances of the personality life limit the expression of the Soul. What is required is the ability to detach from the emotional/astral dynamics of the earlier life and build a strong, conscious connection to the higher mind. Saturn is a planet of the Third Ray and Cancer is a Third Ray sign. Emotional restriction on the personality level has to be transformed into greater compassion and worldly understanding. The message here is: Give up the personal pain and grow mentally. Such growth will provide the detachment required for higher consciousness.

Saturn in the Fourth House: Take charge of yourself! The path towards a greater sense of personal fulfillment is totally connected to the construction of a strong inner foundation of mature responsibility. When well aspected and/or in a favorable sign, Saturn in the Fourth shows that such efforts have already been achieved and that the individual may now build upon such a solid foundation.

Saturn in Leo: As Leo is a First (Will/Power) and Fifth (Concrete Mind) Ray sign, and Saturn is the planetary ruler of the Third Ray (Intelligence), the lesson of this position is very clear.. “Creativity” is always the keyword in any planetary combination involving the Lion. The creative dynamics of the Soul will be inhibited in their release as long as conscious attachment to the needs of the personality predominate. People with Saturn in Leo often tend to use personal power to control the environment. From a Soul-centered perspective this tendency has to be transformed in such a way that personal creative power is directed towards service to the collective.

Saturn in the Fifth House: Discrimination is called for in order that the individual express only those creative activities which actualize and express the Higher Self. Limitations in one’s creative self-expression will dominate the life until the person finds the correct pathway for his or her talents and abilities.

Saturn in Virgo: Virgo is strongly connected to the Mother and is thus involved with birthing those forms which give rise to the opportunity to express the love of the Soul. Saturn in this position requires that the individual learn the necessary discrimination so that one’s mental efforts are not wasted on superfluous activities. When well aspected, Saturn in Virgo can reveal that an individual has already achieved the intuitive ability to know what “works” and what does not, thus saving time and energy for more important things. This focus of practicality comes from knowing what will create a more integrated sense of wholeness in a given life situation. Such inclusivity is a characteristic of Virgo’s connection to the Second Ray of Love/Wisdom.

Saturn in the Sixth House: The mastery of the right processes, techniques, methodologies, and tools for true service to others are characteristic of Saturn when well placed in this house. When afflicted, there is dis-ease, a lack of cohesion, and limitations caused by misplaced talents and abilities.

Saturn in Libra: We find Saturn in its exaltation when positioned in this sign. A Soul-centered individual with Saturn in Libra will function to administer a balanced judgment in the right use of energy, an impartiality expressed in all forms of human interchange. This planetary combination involves all of the Rays of Mind. The Third (Saturn and Libra), the Fifth (Venus as exoteric ruler of the Scales), the First (through Saturn’s rulership of Capricorn), and the Seventh (through Uranus, esoteric ruler of Libra). Thus we have a person with the potential to relate to others in ways that are proper and fair no matter what the circumstances may be.

Saturn in the Seventh House: This usually indicates the need to take on responsibility in relationships, the nature of which in a Soul-centered chart is to point to the path of orientation necessary for spiritual growth. Limitations and blockages in relationships on the personality level are likely until one learns to go beyond the urge to control others for purely personal reasons.

Saturn in Scorpio: Not the easiest position as it combines the energies of Ray Three (Saturn) with those of Ray Six (Mars, as ruler of Scorpio). There may thus be a very strong battle between the emotional and mental aspects within oneself. On the personality level, this often leads to some very distinct challenges in dealing with one’s sexual expression. It is through the Fourth Ray of Scorpio that harmony will have to be established out of this conflict. If achieved, Saturn in Scorpio gives the ability to release hidden strengths and resources. This position works to break down the compulsive nature of negative emotional habit patterns. In this way more refined mental structures may be built for the externalization of the Higher Self.

Saturn in the Eighth House: The desire nature of the personality has to be transformed. This position gives this opportunity but not often through the easiest tests or lessons. In effect certain sexual/emotional blockages arise that cause a person to recognize his or her patterns of Self-denial. This Self, the Soul, will manifest more directly once such frustrating inhibitions are transmuted.

Saturn in Sagittarius: Saturn and the Earth (esoteric ruler of Sagittarius) combine to bring a certain mental pragmatism to this combination. The Archer-Centaur gives direction and purpose to walking the Path. When Soul-centered, Saturn in Sagittarius provides the ability for an individual to take the inherent wisdom contained in all the world’s creeds and philosophies, and synthesize this information into a teaching that transcends all religious differences. On the personality level, this position may restrict a person from widening his perspective through a rigid adherence to one’s personal beliefs.

Saturn in the Ninth House: The potential to stabilize the higher mind in order to anchor a firm foothold on the spiritual Path. Saturn in this house may also block any further mental progress until one learns not to control or dominate others through a particular philosophy or orthodox teaching.

Saturn in Capricorn: When accompanied by love and wisdom, this potent position may serve to create those structures that lead the individual (and others) up the Mountain of Initiation. The Third Ray is at its most powerful here, endowing the Soul-centered individual with astute mental abilities and an especial talent for handling the economic considerations of life. On the personality level, there is the tendency to make up one’s own rules and regulations no matter what the reality of universal Law may be. An incarnation with abundant opportunities to put the Will-to-Good into material form and concrete actions.

Saturn in the Tenth House: The culmination of a very special purpose in life, giving the need to achieve. But on which level? The personality will seek to rule and govern based on personal opinions and emotional needs. The Soul will seek to administer the Law expressed through Love.

Saturn in Aquarius: A most benevolent position for Saturn from the level of the Soul. Jupiter (esoteric ruler of the Water Bearer) adds the energies of the Second Ray of Love Wisdom to this Venus-ruled Fifth Ray (Science and Technology) sign. This combination may contribute to a person hard at work creating those social institutions and networks that anchor group consciousness. A position which has the inherent ability to blend worthy ideas from the past with the unfolding concepts for the future. On the personality level, personal ideologies and concepts inhibit an individual from a more positive contribution to society.

Saturn in the Eleventh House: The orientation to take on social responsibilities for the sake of the group. It also gives the experience of consolidating spiritual visions and aspirations for the benefit of many people. If afflicted on the personality level, blocks occur to one’s social progress leading to frustration.

Saturn in Pisces: Pluto (esoteric ruler of Pisces) joins with Saturn on the Soul level to create a most powerful force that works to pierce the veils of glamour and illusion. Thus the individual with this planetary combination may be able to uncover the subconscious dynamics which give rise to our fears and their resulting miseries. On a more practical level, this can lead to wonderful discoveries in the laboratory which are used to heal illnesses and other human ills. When afflicted on the personality level, Saturn in Pisces gives the tendency to create artificial walls and barriers, thus fencing in one’s fears and adding to inner tensions.

Saturn in the Twelfth House: In terms of the personality, this position often results in fear of the direct use of personal will power. This leads one into conflict with people in authority and may gives rise to a manipulative nature. The Soul-centered meaning may indicate the need to take on the responsibility for redeeming some of the collective karma of humanity and the willpower to be able to accomplish this task.

I did not write this, I got it from AlanOken.com and wanted to share the wisdom with tumblr folk! I do give readings, so private message me if you’re interested!

Am I the only one who finds Yugie EXTREMELY attractive here?? I know its an old video but he just looks soooo damn good I keep on going back to the video just to look at his pretty face. Other than wanting to watch him dance freestyle of course💕

anonymous asked:

man I don't think you can really say bro is brainwashed but gamzee's just evil when you can argue that gamzee's also possessed by cal. they even have really similar relationships to how he's formed, ie part of their souls exist inside lil cal already. which is probably a good explanation for how lil cal is able to brainwash them when he doesn't brainwash, like, dave, who is around him his whole childhood. idk, I just think gamzee's more complicated than "evil ass hole"

As it happens, Gamzee has a line I never gave much weight to before noticing Bro’s SAW interest that I’m more inclined to take seriously now, that suggests Gamzee and Bro’s relationship to Cal WAS intrinsically different:

But even if Bro is kind of a noble captor figure holding Cal back, I still wouldn’t think it excuses any of what he put Dave through. He’s still an awful dude.

As for Gamzee, here’s the main problem with reading him as “just” brainwashed.

Gamzee doesn’t require Lil Cal’s presence to go evil. In fact, Gamzee doesn’t seem to require ANYTHING to turn evil.
But even if like, Doc Scratch ALWAYS teleports Lil Cal into Gamzee’s presence to trigger his personality shift, I don’t think it would matter.
The weight of the sheer SCALE of Gamzee’s devotion cements his place as an ultimately willing accomplice/acolyte to Caliborn’s Dark Carnival.

And it kind of makes Gamzee fucking terrifying and a fantastic villain.

I’ll explain my reasoning here.

We know for a fact that Gamzee snaps and kills all his friends in at least one Doomed timeline. This is the source for half the code used in the creation of Doc Scratch. There’s no implication that Lil Cal is involved here at all.

But again, let’s assume Lil Cal was here again. It doesn’t matter.

Because there is canonically, explicitly, no timeline in the history of Gamzee where Gamzee ever, ever, EVER chooses to rebel. Gamzee Makara simply does not ever choose his friends over Lord English.  In any timeline. Ever.
How do I know?

Lets talk about Ghosts for a minute. The fandom has historically kind of taken these guys for granted, and loose fandom consensus is that they aren’t coherent/who has what ghosts is arbitrary. This is incorrect!

Pretty much everybody in the Bubbles that should have alt!ghosts does, including Meenah and Aranea, the two characters who’s alt!ghosts are typically presumed “Missing”.

This is important. The Ghosts kind of give us very low-key character development, and contextualize the characters for us. For example, Eridan is an absolute irredeemable bastard in the Alpha timeline. But in a God Tier iteration of themselves, Eridan and Feferi seemingly come to friendlier terms. In another, there’s suggestions Eridan makes up with Feferi and Sollux. In yet another, he seems to be Trans or exploring femininity at least.

The point is, there’s a certain fluidity to Eridan’s potential. Still terrible in the comic, but it’s important to remember that Eridan didn’t CHOOSE to be trapped in the meteor with Jack, or to be born to Alternia’s power system, or to be trapped in the Alpha Timeline.

It’s important to remember these things because in Homestuck, someone with power–Lord English–deliberately and willfully chose those things FOR him. Eridan’s lives are lived in response to that imposed power structure.
These factors don’t redeem him completely necessarily

But anyway, the fact that the rest of the cast have coherent quantum expressions means there are only three real exceptions–three characters who either don’t have any ghosts at all, or should have more ghosts than they do.

The first is Caliborn, who’s timeline has exactly one deviation from the Alpha–apparently caused by John’s retcon. This riddle’s solved easily enough:
Predomination doesn’t leave a ghost to appear in the bubbles at all.
When Calliope says she ate his soul, she means that literally.
Caliborn’s cheating in the Alpha Timeline is indeed the only reason Calliope exists in the bubbles at all.

(This, by the way, explains a lot about the relationship between Caliborn’s soul and Gamzee/Arquis’ in the Lord English. He predominated over them, too.)

The second is Vriska, who only has a single ghost in (Vriska). This is really weird, because we literally know for a fact she dies in more than one doomed timeline! As with the two Calliopes, I think this is down to John’s retcon doing some weird entanglement nonsense to Vriska’s quantum existence.
The point is: Where others have a palette of possibility, Vriska has two extremely polarized halves. Schrodinger’s Vriska.

Important to mention that just like Eridan, the structure of the Alpha Timeline that limits potential Vriskas is IMPOSED ONTO HER. Vriska didn’t want anything about the way she was raised or where she was born. She didn’t ask John and Terezi to retcon her into this bizarre state. Both Vriskas, like the rest of the cast, are rolling with the punches LE has seen fit to give.

Except for Gamzee.

Hussie literally tells us Gamzee never dies. His single non-Alpha Timeline death in [S] Game Over is retconned by John, and Hussie suggests it straight up doesn’t count. But that presents a problem.

There are thousands upon thousands of Doomed troll timelines. How is it that Gamzee specifically never ever EVER dies? Well, there’s only one real way that a Non-Time player can survive a Doomed timeline, that we know of:

Dream self merger. By going to sleep as the last player present in Sburb, the Doomed Rose from Davesprite’s timeline triggers a game mechanic that ends her timeline completely and merges her consciousness with that of Alpha Rose through their dreamselves.

If Gamzee survives his doomed timelines, this is the only possible way how.
And collapsing all of his potential instances into a single Alpha identity certainly sounds like the reduction of possibility commonly attributed to the Rage aspect.
But what that means is that to move on to the Alpha, every Doomed Gamzee must inevitably either snap and kill all the other trolls, or somehow outlast them.

And it means that if any Gamzee had EVER, in the entire spectrum of plausibility the Alpha timeline affords, EVER been inclined to rebel against LE–then we would know. Because somewhere out there, that at least Hussie could see, there would be a Ghost to show for it.

But there isn’t. Similar in this respect only to Caliborn, Gamzee simply has no alternate deviations because he doesn’t want them. He chooses the path that leads to Lord English freely and willingly, over and over and over again.

And like Caliborn…

Gamzee does this because he wants to.

Gamzee doesn’t BELIEVE he’s going to become his own God–he knows it for a fact. He sees it in Lil Cal’s mangled soul. And he embraces that truth wholeheartedly, throwing himself into the acolyte role from then onwards and presumably following instructions Doc Scratch gives him throughout Act 6.

Which we can talk about some other time. The point is: Gamzee chooses all this. Whether or not Lil Cal causes him to is beside the point, because there is not and never will be any timeline where Gamzee chooses to resist.

Gamzee is the ultimate in shitty cosmic nazi religious zealots, and devoted to the very power structure that causes every other character to suffer so. There are no mitigating factors for him as there are for everyone else but Caliborn.
At the end of the day, he’s evil.
Bad clown. Worst enemy.

10 Things That Need To Be Taught In Schools

1. How to use the law of attraction. Using the law of attraction allows us to be more focused on ourselves and less likely to complain about external circumstances as we know we create the reality we experience.

2. The temporary nature of everything. Getting comfortable with the idea that everything is temporary enables us to understand that we’re here to have fun and not take things too seriously because we know everything has an end - including us.

3. How food affects our bodies. We need to understand the role food plays in our lives, from the way it impacts our moods to it’s involvement in the development of diseases such as cancer and diabetes. Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.

4. Our spiritual nature. Knowing that we are infinite beings having a human experience & that we are not our bodies gives us a different perspective on life and allows us to transcend much of the irrelevant noise that takes us away fro experiencing our greatest joy.

5. Understanding our psychology. Being aware of the way our brains work and identifying when we’re living through the ego allows us to take responsibility for our lives instead of feeling powerless and as though life is happening to us.

6. How to make money. We all need money to survive in this world, instead of learning outdated information and being put through memory tests it would make a lot more sense for us to learn how to create incomes for ourselves rather than following a set of rules to be reliant on jobs that we may not enjoy.

7. How to create healthy & fulfilling relationships. Many of us learn this the hard way - through experience. Learning about relationships from a young age would allow us to experience deep love rather than enduring superficial relationships for ego gratification or due to lack of knowledge of self.

8. Why nature is so important. We are animals that come from nature, it’s absolutely imperative that we reconnect with ourselves in nature to get back in touch with what’s truly important - the relationship we have with ourselves and the universe.

9. How to meditate & why we need to. Meditation is a sacred time for us all to look within and observe the activity of our minds - this allows us to take a step back from following the movement of thought and gain perspective on our lives.

10. Mindfulness. The body is always present, but the mind rarely is - the ability to tune into our bodies to ground ourselves in the now is one of the most important things we can learn in this life because it allows us to experience true joy - which only exists in the present moment.

Education without knowledge of self is incomplete education.

Peace & positive vibes.

“I am really moved and motivated by things that occur that are unjust. I’ve always hated people trampling on other people. I was in quandary, a philosophical quandary, because I tought, if I’m not my brother’s keeper, who am I? Where does my life end and my sense of responsibility for other lives begin?”  Listen to Me Marlon (2015) dir. Stevan Riley

Some Wisdom for Today

1. Life is a mixture of experiences. Some of them are painful and some are fabulous.

2. If we accept responsibility for our own lives, we’ll have a lot more say and exert much more control.

3. It’s true - avoiding pain will bring some temporary relief … But pushing through the pain often reaps more benefits.

4. Time is very precious and can never be regained – so try not to squander your opportunities.

5. If we treat people poorly we will suffer in the end as we all need one another to succeed and grow in life.

6. Choose to learn from the past – then let it go, and live your life. Today’s a precious gift that you can miss, if you look back.

7. Life is constantly changing, and our friendships often fade. There is nothing that is certain so enjoy what you have now.
