respect the feathers

tbfhhhh u know how goldenflower nursed featherkit & stormkit???? like tbh i love thinking that they still, even as older warriors and even tho it was just temporarily, they still call her mama or mom, or something like that.

like mosspelt raised them so of course they always called her mom / mama and consider her 2 be like their mother (silverstreams their bio mom of course but mosspelt did a good job raising them and im sure silverstream is ok w/ that and is happy they had a mom) buuut they also remember goldenflower super fondly and think of her as like a third mom

and sometimes they call her mom like stormfur came back 2 thunderclan in sunset and he just saw her and went “awwww ma u look nice, i’m still glad to see you!!”

and goldenflower just cuddles bramble & storm like “my boys…..two of my babies…”

Formally introducing the other recent addition to my team, Dany, the female harris hawk :)

Dany was originally used as a falconry bird to hunt jack rabbits, but was transferred over to abatement earlier this year where she specialized in seagull control. She joined my team a couple weeks ago and is now learning how to navigate the busy city life. It’s a lot to adjust to, and she’s still a little wary in large crowds, but overall she’s doing great and is a really helpful teammate. She has a much more laid-back attitude than Riley and doesn’t go off an adventures nearly as much. It’s a nice change of pace! But thanks to her falconry background, she still has that killer instinct and demands respect from all our feathered foes.

Quetzal are strikingly colored birds in the trogon family. They are found in forests and woodlands, especially in humid highlands, with the five species from the genus Pharomachrus being exclusively Neotropical, while the single Euptilotis species is found in Mexico and very locally in southern United States. All 6 species are fairly large (all over 13 inches long). Quetzals have iridescent green or golden-green wing coverts, back, chest and head, with a red belly. They are strongly sexually dimorphic, and parts of the females’ plumage are brown or grey. These largely solitary birds feed on fruits, berries, insects and small vertebrates(such as frogs).

Concept: Flametail is also gay, but like many medicine cats, kept it pretty lowkey, until he sees his cool cousin that he respects, Jay"I love toms"feather pointing out attractive toms at the gathering and he's like???? I,,,, I can do that??? And Jay's like "yea who's gonna stop you?" Flametail eventually starts dating Toadfoot and him and Jay chat about toms at med cat meetings. Toadfoot and Birchfall also had a short lived crush on one another as apprentices that never went anywhere

It is I! The Oakest of Hearts! Here to help because I just showered and had a good cry!

So my dear kin friends, do you have issues where you feel real low and don’t know why/can’t help it? Do these happen often enough where they feel normal? Do you just want something comforting during these times but don’t know what to do? Well fear not! I have just the right solution for you!

Introducing, Emergency!

‘But Storm!’ You call out as if I can hear you. ‘What on earth does that mean?’ Well I’ll tell you!

Emergency is just that! It’s going to be a bag that you are going to keep in a semi-private yet always accessible area! You’re gonna wanna write ‘Emergency bag’ or something of the like on it so you always remember what it is.

‘Okay! But What do I put into my bag?’ You chant as I answered you the first time.

Anything comforting! Bonus points if it’s happy kin related! For instance;

Your dragon kin?

Include things like chocolate rocks, rock candy , awesome gems you found , or other things that remind you of your kintype.

Your warriors kin?

Throw in some stuffed animals of kitties, get some art and smile at it , throw in some warrior cat books of course! Animal bones if that was your thing?

Just throw in whatever you think would suit your fancy!

Don’t throw in a lot though. You want this to be a small pick me up bag that you can grab whenever you get real low. Don’t ‘overuse’ the bag or else it will start to be linked to negative energy! So try and put small packages of edible things or put one of several stuffed animals in at a time, so that way you can keep the bag ‘fresh’. On that note, also make sure what you put in has positive energy to it! Cuddle your animals and tell them your happy kin memories, stack your treats away as if you were hoarding them, and remember that it’s all personal!

This is just a simple, probably already thought of tacit I came up with.

*Also, Keep maybe one small thing in your backpack/mobile carrying thing, for on the go bad spells.

A little comfort can go a long way!

Happy Home Spell Bottle

Spell bottles are freakin’ awesome, so naturally I wanted to do one. Now I’m going to record my process here.

Firstly, make a list of all the things that make a happy home to you. Is it love? Children? Make and remake your list until you feel you’ve covered it all. Now look at your list and decide what elements represent what things and group your list up that way. Below are the materials I used with what they ended up representing.

Bear in mind that this is SUBJECTIVE. You might not want to use any of these things at all. I tend to make stuff up on the spot and not everyone will be into what I make. But really for this spell I think its super important that you ask yourself what you want in a happy home, and not just use what you see.

  • Salt (I used salt to represent earth)
  • Water (Normal tap water for me, you can use any water)
  • Incense (for air)
  • A candle (for fire)

Quick note on these materials. I picked them so they could be “interacted with” in a way, as you’ll see later.

  • Bay leaves (in my spell they represented stability, protection, unity, and prosperity)
  • Shells (flexibility, resourcefulness, respect)
  • Feathers (communication, fun, trust)
  • A stick to later be burned (Love, happiness, warmth)
  • Another small candle to get wax from for sealing
  • A coin to attract money
  • A piece of string to tie around your bottle
  • And obviously a bottle or jar

  1. Set up your space and gather your materials. Place your salt, incense, candle and water in their directional correspondences, whatever those are to you. Place your jar and optional second candle in the center. Bay leaves next to salt, feathers next to incense, stick next to fire candle, shells next to water. Put your coin and string where ever. If you cast circle do it now I guess. I don’t cast circle so I don’t know.
  2. IF your using a separate candle to get wax from, light it now.
  3. Starting with earth. Pick up your bay leaves and one by one run them through the salt. As you do this imagine earth filling them with energies for stability, unity, protection, and prosperity. Remember, you might be asking for completely different things. Once you have done this, place the leaves one by one into the jar, imagining that as you fill the jar with these energies, so to will the jar fill the home it rests in with these energies.
  4. Repeat this process with the other elements, letting smoke go over the feathers, letting this candle burn the stick, dipping the shells in the water.
  5. Place your coin in your jar.
  6. If your using a cork stopper, put the cork in and seal it with wax. If its a screw on lid just make sure its as tight as possible, You want to imagine that your sealing the jar, and therefore its home, from negative energies.
  7. Tie the string around the jar, binding it as it will bind others from harming you or yours.
  8. Put out your incense and candles and thank the elements for their assistance.

There! Now you have a lovely spell jar that should make for you a happy home.

Forgot to mention! I sprinkled a little salt into the bottle for purity!

A Respectable Person Like You || Mary and Diablo

The French countryside was beautiful. Truly, it was no surprise that it was the subject of so many paintings. Were a painter to take a brush to canvas, trying to recreate the present landscape, they might notice something just a bit odd, something that they might even overlook, thinking it could sully the integrity of the image.

A lone, puffy white cloud sat high in the sky, like a sheep separated from its herd. Strange though, was the black dot that seemed to be perched on top. It was so small, and so distant, that most would believe their eyes were playing tricks. After all, no one could sit atop a cloud.

Except one.

Mary Poppins.

She let out a sigh that was somewhere between content, and lonesome, and looked down, simply admiring the view. Glassy ponds and lakes, reflecting the blue of the sky, beautifully vibrant expanses that were covered in flowers, some of them speckled like a Seurat. The moment the thought passed through her mind, a name trailed after it, disconnected, and lingering there in the forefront of her thinking.

Bert would love this view. He would be absolutely dazzled, she was sure. Someday, she would have to bring him back here, and high up into the clouds to see for himself. Today, though, was not that day. Nor was tomorrow. How long it might be, she wasn’t sure. All she was sure of is that she was not ready.

“Oh, stop dilly-dallying about and go back to him.”

Mary turned sharply to a certain umbrella, and frowned.

“I beg your pardon?”

“Really, Mary Poppins, watching you flit about so anxiously, has become such a bore lately. Return to the fellow, and let yourself be happy for once.”

“I do not need to explain myself to you.”

“Of course you don’t. I know you quite well, Miss Poppins. I know you better than you know yourself, and if you would only-”

She pinched his beak shut, and looked away, as she had many times before. “That’s quite enough. I will see Bert again when I am ready. No sooner, and no later.”

Eagles & Native American Symbolism

Bald eagles and golden eagles were important birds in Native American culture and rituals. The birds were symbols of respect and honor and their feathers were often used in tribal ceremonies.
Identification Bald Eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) range from Alaska and Canada to northern Mexico. The largest bald eagle populations are in the northwest because these birds prefer salmon for their food.
