I saw The Maine live for the first time in 2008 and after almost 8 years, they have yet to disappoint. I feel like their sound has matured the most out of the bands I listened to when I was 14, so in a sense, it’s almost like I have grown up with them.
The acoustic tour was a nice change from the venues they usually play. The Hard Luck in Toronto has a capacity of 200 and that gave the show a very personal feel. John, Garrett, Kennedy, Jared and Pat were all very comfortable on stage and spent quite a bit of time between songs talking and joking with the crowd. They played an assortment of songs from their debut album, Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop, all the way up to the recently released, Imaginary Numbers EP. John'Ohh even played a couple lines of “Daisy” at the request of someone in the crowd.
Overall, The Maine is one of my favourite bands live and they always put on a great set. They will be on this summer’s Warped Tour, which has a stop in Toronto on July 4th. Also, if for some reason you haven’t listened to Forever Halloween or Imaginary Numbers, do so ASAP because they are both amazing albums.
