#1 request this week? Super happy gay YA with HEAs. So here are some books with little to no angst (other than typical teen/romantic) or violence/SA/bullying, or death, that do have a whole lot of kissing (and maybe more, esp in the NAs) and some general merriment. (Full disclosure: I wrote two of them. I’m not doing that modesty thing where I don’t include them.)
250. When Harry was a baby Sirius, James and Lupin gave him several stuffed animals, a wolf, a dog and a stag. They tried to have contests to see who Harry loved most by which toy he would choose but every time they told him "Harry come and play with this one, show us who you love the most!" Harry would crawl over to Lily.
Her life was beginning to make sense again, although she couldn’t say she was enjoying it. But her mind was clear, and her heart was not constantly as heavy. Only when she thought about him. But she knew that in time, she’d survive it. She had done it before and would again. Eventually the heart repairs.
In the aftermath of a trauma, the human body has one amazing instinct. Survival. Even when it appears as though nothing’s happening, white blood cells spring to life to fight infection. Tissue repairs itself and the heart keeps beating. Emotional scars can be more difficult to heal, but we do our best by renewing old friendships, creating joyful moments, or trying new things, to make us feel like we’re doing something, even if we feel helpless. And through it all as long as our hearts keep beating, we survive.
