Paige had a secret: Underneath that wrist band lay a timer that kept ticking. Emily’s did too, but not at the same rate. They weren’t soul mates, at least according to fate. And it killed her.
The idea that any other woman could be the one was preposterous to her. Emily Fields was the best person on the planet as far as she was concerned. But Em’s timer didn’t run out till what would be her sophomore year of college. Paige’s.. ran out today.
Though she didn’t know it. She had an inkling that today was going to be weird, but she figured that’s what happened when you came to apologize for being too sensitive for what was playful flirting. She knocked on the door a couple of times before Ren answered the door, confused and with a guitar to the side.
“Yeah, hey Ren. I wanted to apologize.. I took all that flirting stuff way too hard. It’s just your nature to do that, and I shouldn’t take it so seriously. Sorry about making things awkward. If you want, we can try the whole ‘friends’ thing again.”
With her eyebrows furrowed she motioned for the younger woman to come in. “There’s no need to apologize. I shouldn’t have flirted with you.” She said seriously as she walked into the living room assuming that Paige had followed her in. She sat down on her couch and looked towards Paige. “Not everyone is okay with having people flirt with them. Especially when they’re in a committed relationship.”
