2003 Château Léoville Poyferré

Bordeaux is always special for me and this is a fabulous wine from the region. This guy still smells young - cassis, blackberries, fresh tobacco, spicebox, violets, and fresh leather with a hint of a red fruit note. Tons of cassis and violets on the palate with fresh young tobacco, spicebox, leather, nutmeg, and a hint of eucalyptus. Beautifully structured. Elegant tannins. Round finish. Lovely!

2000 Château Talbot “Connétable Talbot”

So I indulged with the second wine of Château Talbot - unfortunately it was a little past its prime. That’s my bad - you should definitely enjoy this stuff closer to release. Raspberries, blackberries, and boysenberries on the nose. Redder fruit on the palate with raspberries and small underripe blackberries. A bit of a short finish.
