red plague

here’s a random sketch of Seven that I did for a (now abandoned) project. ⁽⁽ଘ( ˊᵕˋ )ଓ⁾⁾*

we closed down the most important zones of bucharest tonight with over 300k marching from the protest at victory square to union square, spitting our lungs out from screaming. shaming the lepers in these rich zones not even having one flag out, pushing them back inside from their balconies with lasers. ‘sdp, the red plague,’ ‘nad, come get 'em,’ 'thieves,’ 'resign,’ were the main chants, alongside 'if you care, come outta the house.’ at the end, everyone applauded and started singing at the subway station in union square. amazed by the solidarity, people came from all over the country to protest with us in bucharest. shout out to the romanians in the west protesting, shout out to the romanians out right now in over 70 cities.

I have all sorts of odd scraps of illustration board kicking around. I decided to start using them for super loose warmups. These guys had very minimal sketching, and were done mostly by making a huge mess with ink, gouache, and some pencil work. It’s a nice change to not spend any time worrying about thumbnail sketches, overall composition, and how everything is going to read. These guys are roughly 5"x8".

Another cover art completed for Shurk of their upcoming new album!

As before this one was a huge pleasure to work with given enough room for my own ideas and with the given concept new areas to discover and learn from!

Thanks for all who came by when streamed it, as always you were excellent company! :>

Hey you're really awesome and I hope you feel better

Aw thanks mah dude. I’ll probably be feeling better by the end of the week (judging by the way my emotions have been off the fucking charts I imagine it’s just the red plague coming to wreak havic on my mind and body)

Ask me about my OTP headcanons?

3) Who hogs the cover/ Who loves to cuddle?
One of Red’s favorite pastimes is cuddling. He doesn’t really mind who hogs the covers / if there are any at all, as long as Lizzy is close enough. Plus, since Red is more of a blanket-type-of-guy (if there even is such a thing) their bed is always stocked with four different blankets (there have been various tangled-legs-incidents ever since she started sleeping in the same bed with him. It’s a constant struggle)

6) Who would have really deep emotional thoughts at the middle of the night/ Who would have them in the middle of the day?
There is no time when Red isn’t plagued with existential crisis-thoughts and doubts concerning whether he truly deserves to be with Lizzy or not. Liz rarely thinks about their relationship in those terms, once she’s made her choice she’s 100% behind it (still, once or twice she’s woken up in cold sweat, and fretted terribly about whether she’s made the right choice or not. But then she turned  to look at Red sleeping peacefully beside her, his lips slightly parted, snoring softly - and all of a sudden everything felt so very right again)

7) Who sweats the small stuff?
Red. He always pretends not to care, but deep down the trivial, casual things upset him more than he’d like to admit. Liz has gotten better at noticing though, so now she makes sure to kiss him soundly in public whenever someone mistakes them for father and daughter. Or she accidentally spills her boiling coffee over a guy at the post office who once made a rude remark about their relationship. Or she had that Chinese dry cleaner busted for money laundry when they ruined his favorite Zegna tie, causing Red to sulk around the post office for a whole week. (She gets protective of him sometime)

Kaneki - a vengeful red right hand?

I noticed that the new joker card for Kaneki gives him a right hand (which if you recall was cut off in chapter 51)

notably though, this hand is red.

Now a red right hand is most likely a reference to John Milton’s 1674 poem Paradise Lost. Keeping with the recent biblical allusions we’ve been receiving from Eto, Paradise Lost is about the Fall of Man, which Eto touched upon to Kanae. I cannot boast any keen knowledge about the poem, or even about the Bible. I can however, explain the Red Right Hand.

The Red Hand is described by the demon Belial as the vengeful right hand of God, striking down at the devils should they push the war in Heaven too far. This is the quote for the line:

“Chained in the burning lake? That sure was worse
What if the breath that kindled those grim fires
Awaked, should blow them into sevenfold rage
And plunge us into flames; or from above
Should intermitted vengeance arm again
His red right hand to plague us?”

Does this mean Kaneki is taking the place of god? The one Eto sees as “A kid with an absurd amount of power”?

This description might possibly be twisted to refer to Kaneki.

I’m not here to provide any definitive answers, I just found this interesting reference, and I’m sure there are more knowledgable and eloquent people who can spot things beyond my sights.
