record of the day awards

CLASS I EXY → usc trojans

USC didn’t have Edgar Allan’s flawless record, but the Trojans were known for their sportsmanship. They’d won the Day Spirit Award seven years straight and had yet to receive a single red-card: an impossible feat considering their long history and their ranking.

Both teams are obsessed with being the best, but only the Trojans would risk their standings to improve. They’ll play tonight with everything they’ve got and they’ll be better for it.

“I listened to ‘Thriller’ on my Dad’s record player. Once I was old enough to use the record player. That took a little while. Dad was like you have to know how to do it right. You have to know how to put the needle on the, on the vinyl. Don’t scratch it. It took a while to learn.” - Adam Lambert

All week long we’re celebrating music with #InMyCollection. Whether it is vinyl, CDs, ticket stubs, or memorabilia, music fans are extremely passionate and proud of their music. Share your story on Instagram using #InMyCollection and you could be featured right here!

This Day In Hip Hop and Rap History

September 11th – Kanye West releases his third album, “Graduation”, on Roc-A-Fella Records, also on this day in 2007.

The Grammy Award winning “Graduation” went multi-platinum and to the top of the charts.

“Graduation’s” title continued West’s education theme of his two previous efforts, “The College Dropout” and “Late Registration”.

Inspired by U2, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones, West wanted to make an album that would stand the test of time, more than his previous two releases, and one day be considered a classic.

One of the elements he used to achieve this was to expand musically.

“Graduation”, although hip-hop at its core, merged snippets of electronica, rock, lounge music, prog-rock, reggae, dub, pop and synth-pop.

West also incorporated more live instrumentation in addition to sampling on “Graduation” as well.

“Graduation” spawned the hit singles, “Good Life”, featuring T-Pain, “Flashing Lights”, featuring Dwele, “Homecoming”, featuring Chris Martin of Coldplay, “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” and the monster smash “Stronger”.

Other guests on “Graduation included, Mos Def, DJ Premier, Lil’ Wayne, Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, John Legend and Connie Mitchell of Sneaky Sound System.

West would produce “Graduation” along with Mike Dean, DJ Toomp, Nottz, Warryn Campbell and others.

The album’s cover was designed by Japanese contemporary “superflat” artist Takashi Murakami.

“Graduation” would be the first of West’s more introspective albums that he would release.

2016 for BTS is no joke.

BTS was very successful this year. You cannot argue with that. They came out with 2 full albums this year, both successful. I hope we are all proud of our boys! Only a few weeks ago they won their first Daesang award. Now they’re on their second!

As said in Namjoon’s speech, many people doubted they would be successful. Well, they were obviously wrong. Look at them now. Breaking records, winning awards, having a fandom growing day by day, and making music that gets better and better each time.

I am so proud of BTS and that I can’t put it into words! All of this is for your hard work. Good job BTS, good job all artist. Hopefully many more happy & successful years for BTS and other artist to come! 💕

Vision Nine and BBC Worldwide are delighted to announce that the hugely popular Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular will come to The SSE Arena, Wembley in May 2015.

The live show, which was a sell-out on its world premiere in Australia, will enjoy a limited run -  It features over 100 performers and is conducted by Ben Foster, who conducts and orchestrates the musical scores for the TV series.  Music will be performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and members of the BBC National Chorus of Wales.

The show features a host of the Doctor’s famous adversaries including the iconic Daleks and Cybermen, the spine-chilling Silence and many more fan favourites. The live monsters provide a dramatic contrast to the evocative and thrilling music written by Murray Gold, who has been responsible for composing music for the series over the last eight years, including the record-breaking (and BAFTA award-winning) 50th anniversary episode Doctor Who: The Day or the Doctor.

The live music will be accompanied by a big screen presentation of key moments and specially edited sequences from the past 50 years of Doctor Who.

Irving Azoff to Be Saluted at Pre-Grammy Gala
Music industry legend Irving Azoff will be honored at the 2016 Pre-Grammy Gala at the Beverly Hilton, organizers announced today.

Azoff, chairman and CEO Azoff MSG Entertainment, will be presented with the President’s Merit Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the music industry and his numerous philanthropic endeavors.

Azoff will join previous recipients which include Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss, Martin Bandier, Sir Richard Branson, Ahmet Ertegun, David Geffen, Berry Gordy, Lucian Grainge, Doug Morris, Mo Ostin, Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Clive Davis.

The action will take place at the 2016 Grammy Salute to Industry Icons event, which will again be presented by Davis and The Recording Academy on Feb. 14, 2016, a day before the 58th Grammy Awards. Sponsors of the invite-only VIP pre-Grammy party are Harman, Hilton, Hyundai and MasterCard.

Throughout his diverse career, Azoff has always been joined by, and continues to represent, the Eagles. And he’s a regular high-flier in the Billboard Power 100, topping the list in 2012 (when he was chairman/CEO Live Nation Entertainment and Front Line Management Group) and landing at No. 3 this year. “The first four decades of Irving Azoff’s career were marked by fearsome advocacy on behalf of his clients that did much to set the parameters of the music industry,” Billboard noted on his inclusion in the 2015 list.

Neil Portnow, president/CEO of The Recording Academy, echoes the sentiment. “This year,” he says in a statement, “we are proud to honor Irving Azoff — a visionary of our industry whose passion and innovation, combined with his championing some of the world’s greatest superstars, has helped to shape the musical landscape for decades.”

With the eagerly anticipated new season of MotoGP approaching,  the wonderful zeusbrontios and myself have devised a little challenge for the fandom. It will start on Tuesday 24th February, and each day there will be a new task to complete. It’s all for fun, so don’t feel pressured to take part in each day if you don’t want to. Complete each day however you like; photo, video, text post, it’s entirely up to you!

Here are the questions and tasks:

Tuesday 24th February - Monday 2nd March:

  • Day 1: Who is your favourite rider from MotoGP? From Moto2? Moto3? Favourite non-rider? Favourite team?
  • Day 2: MEMORY TIME! Think back to the first race you ever watched. When was it? What happened? Who won? What made you make the decision to watch it?
  • Day 3: What is your favourite memory from 2014? Favorite overtake? Best battle? Most enthralling race?
  • Day 4: Teeny-tiny accent challenge: Record yourself stating the following facts; Favourite rider, Favourite track, GAS!, PUSH!,the ever-memorable Vale quote: ‘Small fucking bastard’, and finally: sing us a little song if you like!
  • Day 5: What are your predictions for 2015? Rookie of the year? Surprises in any of the categories? Do you have your world champions picked out already?
  • Day 6: You can add any circuit onto the 2015 calendar, which do you choose? Who do you think would win?
  • Day 7: Let’s repeat a popular challenge from last year: What’s in your bag? Post a photo/explain the contents of your bag/purse.

Tuesday 3rd - Monday 9th March:

  • Day 8: What are your favourite friendships between riders on the grid?
  • Day 9: Handwrite, tumblr URL,  your favourite rider’s number, your favourite rider’s biggest rivals with your opposite hand, first name, three favourite riders of all time, ‘Hey girl’ in your favourite rider’s language.
  • Day 10: Snap a photo of your style/your wardrobe.
  • Day 11: Post a photo/describe the place you usually blog about MotoGP from.
  • Day 12: Imagine that your favourite rider has just won the world championship, what would you say to them? Write/record a speech that you would read at the awards ceremony.
  • Day 13: Write a haiku about MotoGP/your favourite riders.
  • Day 14: If you could join any team, which would you choose and why? What role would you have?

Tuesday 10th - Monday 16th March:

  • Day 15: What song do you think best describes your favourite rider?
  • Day 16: “50 Shades of MotoGPey” - Write a paragraph of romantic/fluffy/NC17/whatever you want MotoGP fanfic. (It doesn’t actually have to be like 50SOG, don’t worry)
  • Day 17: Share your daily essentials: food, beauty, apps, etc.
  • Day 18: You have suddenly inherited the rights to a team, who do you hire as riders? Who as mechanics? PR managers? What would be your colour schemes? Go nuts!
  • Day 19: Reveal three facts that your followers are unlikely to know about you.
  • Day 20: Have you ever been to a race? If so, share your memories. If not, which race/races are you hoping to go to in the future?
  • Day 21: Post your favourite photo of anything to do with MotoGP. (Remembering to credit the source of the photo, of course)

Tuesday 17th - Monday 23rd March:

  • Day 22: If you were a rider, what number would you have? Any special logo? A hashtag maybe? (Like #25gang) Helmet colours/design?
  • Day 23: IT’S MOTOGP FAN DAY! (Not really, but roll with us here) Wear a piece of MotoGP-related merchandise(be it official or inspired), and snap&post a pic!
  • Day 24: What would you do if you could spend a day with a rider? Where would you go? Who would you choose?
  • Day 25: Which rider logo is your favourite? Why does it stand out to you so much?
  • Day 26: Write your favourite riders biography in as much or as little detail as you like. Use photos and gifs as freely as you like.
  • Day 27: Create a special ‘Get-In-The-Mood-For-MotoGP’ playlist for your followers.
  • Day 28: Which rider’s story/rivalry would you like to see in a film(Like the Hunt vs Lauda rivalry in Rush) one day?

Tuesday 24th & Wednesday 25th March:

  • Day 29: Do you have any pre-race rituals? Snacks, friend coming over, a certain shirt you must always wear?
  • Day 30: IT’S TOMRROW! Make a fansign supporting those who you hope to do well(It can be as basic as you want), snap a photo, and show us!

Please reblog to help spread the word! And remember to tag each of your posts with ‘#30daystoMotoGPChallenge’.

Have fun! x

we need a moment of a silence for you blind and fake fans claiming zerrie is fake! you should be arrested for trying to ruin such a beautiful thing!

Guys fucking call the Police I don’t ship two human beings together! OMG how could I live with myself not supporting my favorite band member relationship of One Direction. Holy shit I thought being a fans was supporting the boys, trying to break records for them, vote day and night for they can win awards, waiting for hours outside a hotel just to get a simple selfie or video, wasting about $200 only on concert tickets not mention their merch, defending them when people hate on them, and finally running a Tumblr and Twitter about them. I guess I’m a fake fan for not supporting one thing that they do which is a fucking relationship. -S
