reblog this if you want to talk to me

{ Look, it's nothing personal. }

Please don’t take it personal if I unfollow you, that doesn’t mean that I don’t like you, that doesn’t mean that i hate you, or that i don’t want to talk to you. If I unfollow you for whatever the reason, feel free to ask me why I did so and I will try to reply to you.

Sometimes i do unfollowing sprees or unfollow people I don’t interact with, it’s most likely temporary, probably i’ll re-follow some again. No hard feelings.

I’m a horrible mutual. Hah.

sinfullyselected  asked:

Are those of us who are not art thieves allowed to reblog your art? Or do you have a strict 'no redistribution' policy? I saw your latest Shance art and I felt a need to share it, but I wanted to receive a direct 'yes' from you in case of the possibility that it was unwanted. If not, no hard feelings, and I will make sure not to share your art in the present or future. :)

You can always reblog my art! I assume you are talking about repost?? Coz REBLOG is just let one’s post appears on your blog but it’s still their post; while REPOST is you download one’s art and then upload in your own post. If it is repost that you want to do, that will be a NO from me and you can see my statement here. However I really appreciate that you like my art! And it is very sweet of you to ask me for permission :) I understand the feeling of sharing things with others, so I suggest you share the links of my post instead of just my art or repost to them. It’d be a great help to me, thank you :D

Hey everybody!

Hello people! How are you wonderful human beings doing today? I hope you’re all well. Despite the lack of questions in my inbox as of recent, I will still try to be as active as possible with reblogging and such. Also, if you ever want to chat, just send me a message on tumblr and I’d happily respond to you as soon as I am able to. Talk to me about anything, I don’t mind!

To everyone who follows me, or even just likes and reblogs what I post, I appeciate each and every one of you ever so much. And to all my friends (you know who you are), keep being awesome!

With Love,

Succi

anonymous asked:

Are you even native American

Hello nosey nonnie.

Yes I am Native American, but I don’t look it. And no it’s not one of those my great grandmother was Cherokee. I am 2nd generation off the rez Tuscarora, Iroquois Turtle Clan.

This is me and my mother. Yes she is my birth mother, I just got very fucked over in the genes department. I swear I’m adopted but we have many photos of the birth and have several paternity and maternity tests to prove that I fell out of this woman’s vagina.

Here are some more pictures cause I’m pale and I honestly don’t think you believe me:

(My mom actually made every piece of jewelry I am wearing and hand beaded that vest as well).

And here’s pictures of the woman that I blame for my bad genes: My grandmother.

I get told I look like her all the time AND I HONESTLY DO NOT SEE IT, but because I get told I look like her all the time I BLAME HER.

On the left you see my grandpa (full blood native) in his headdress, on the right you see my cousin (also full blood), the great medicine man Mad Bear, here’s a book about him since you seem to be so nosey.

And in case you doubted me, here are a few pictures of me when my ma and I were on the powwow circuit.

This is me with my ma’s regalia (if you call it a costume I will shank you) because a) she had a bad leg day and couldn’t dance and b) mine was not ready and made and I JUST REALLY WANTED TO DANCE. (This is also the day I got burnt ON MY FUCKING HAIRLINE WHERE MY HAIR WAS PARTED. THAT FUCKING HURTS!)

Here’s me in my fancy dance shawl. There aren’t that many pictures of me because a) I fucking hated them b) it’s normally seen as disrespectful to take pictures of dancers out of the circle without their permission and my ma and I were always dancing at the same times AND I NEVER LET ANYONE TAKE MY PICTURE AT THIS TIME IN MY LIFE.

So yes, my family is a very rainbow family, I just happen to be the one WHITE passing one. No really…

Here’s me (in the middle if you can’t guess), Bebe and Audree. I like to call this the ABC Rainbow of the Printup family (because my first name is Cheyenne…..I swear our parents DID NOT PLAN THIS).

And this is another pic of me and Audree YEARS later

Am I Native? Yes

Do I look traditionally Native? No

Does that mean I am not going to label myself as native? HELL TO THE FUCK NO.

Please reblog and share so that people can understand that there are white passing people of color. Yes even some that pass as white as me. We do exist and no that does not give you the right to basically white wash us. I am proud of my native roots and I will share everything and anything you want to know. The more educational resources we can get out there the better. DON’T BE AFRAID TO SHOOT ME AN ASK. I LOVE IT, but please do not be a dick like this one and phrase it so accusingly. Much appreciated, thank you!

idk why but it seems all the opposition to nazis from white goyim seems so…….performative.

like y’all will go on and on about punching nazis, but you won’t even mention how jcc’s are getting bomb threats, or critically examine the rise of antisemitism on the left. hell, most of the gentile blogs that i follow that talk about “i hate nazis i wanna punch them” say almost jack shit about actual antisemitism…..

it just gives me a really bad feeling overall. kinda seems like you care about seeming progressive, but don’t actually care about our lives.

(I really want gentiles to reblog this btw)

Things I have learned since becoming an Adult™

-don’t tell ur coworkers jack shit. You might think they’re your friends but they will sell you out for a paperclip
-everything men tell you is a lie
-store brand vanilla ice cream is better than name brand
-pregnancy tests from the dollar store work just as well as $20 ones
-don’t lie to your doctor
-seriously don’t
-at some point your card will get declined for $6 and nobody but you will care. It happens to everyone at some point in their life
-you will become bffs with your mom (unless she’s a mean person, then skip this one)
-you’ll wish you took the advice adults gave you when you were younger, even though it annoyed you at the time
-people you went to high school with will become teachers, doctors, etc but they will still do drugs and it will be weird. That’s life, my dude
-never underestimate the power of new underwear

It’s quiet uptown, Alex dies, Eliza sings

ANGELICA:
There are moments that the words don’t reach
There’s a grief too powerful to name
You fight your tears back as well as you can
Once more burdened with the unimaginable!

The moments when your’re in so deep
It feels easier to just swim down
Eliza Hamilton moves uptown
Consumed again by the unimaginable!

ELIZA:
I spend hours in his study
I pour over his words once more
And it’s quiet uptown
A quiet we both felt once before

I take my sister to church with the children
A sign of the cross at the door
And I pray…
I don’t know how I’m going to endure…

ENSEMBLE
If you see her in the street, walking by herself,
Talking to herself, have pity!

ELIZA:
Alexander, you liked it uptown!
It’s quiet uptown!

ENSEMBLE:
She is going through the unimaginable!
She stays up at night, sitting where he used to write
Taking in his words and the city!

ELIZA:
Look around! Look around!
How lucky we are to be alive right now!!

ENSEMBLE:
Can you imagine?

ELIZA (Imagining Alexander beside her):
Look at where you are!
Look at where you started!
I really don’t know why I deserve you
But hear me out!
That would be enough!
If I could spare your life!
If I could trade your life for mine!
You’d be standing here right now
Your dreams alive
And that would be enough!

I don’t pretend to know
The struggles you were facing!
When you wrote that cursed pamphlet,
when you set your world ablaze.

But I’m not afraid!
I know who I married!
I’ll keep your legacy alive…
Could that be enough?

ENSEMBLE:
If you see her in his room
Reading to herself, sobbing to herself
Have pity!
She is going through the unimaginable!
See her sitting all alone, facing the unknown
Looking out at her husband’s city

ELIZA:
Why did you write like you were running out of time?

ENSEMBLE:
She is going through the unimaginable!

ANGELICA:
There are moments that the words don’t reach
There’s a sadness too terrible to name
We find resolve as best as we can
To push away the unimaginable!
We are standing at his headstone
I am standing by Eliza’s side
She reads his words:

HAMILTON (voice):
This letter, my very dear Eliza, will not be delivered to you, unless I shall first have terminated my earthly career; to begin, as I humbly hope from redeeming grace and divine mercy, a happy immortality.

ELIZA/HAMILTON:
I need not tell you of the pangs I feel, from the idea of quitting you and exposing you to the anguish which I know you would feel.
Fly to the bosom of your God and be comforted. With my last idea; I shall cherish the sweet hope of meeting you in a better world.

ELIZA:
Adieu best of wives and best of Women.
Ever yours

HAMILTON:
Alexander.

ELIZA: It’s quiet uptown!

ENSEMBLE:
His legacy…Can you imagine?
His legacy… Can you imagine?
If you see her in the street, walking by herself, talking to herself have pity…
She is going through the unimaginable!

Dear RPers who have wanted to interact.

I feel like i need to address this because i find it’s an issue many people, especially newcomers, have in RP.

PLEASE. DO. NOT. BE. SHY. TO. SAY. HI.

There’s no reason to be anxious or hesitant if you want to talk to me. I will happily accept a random starter, or a random tag, or an inbox message! Even if we’ve never interacted or even acknowledged one another, i will still HAPPILY interact with you!

You’re not bothering me. You’re not annoying. You’re not making me uncomfortable. I LIKE to interact with new people, it’s very exciting and fun!

Please, PLEASE, don’t be hesitant when sending in ANYTHING. I’m having a lot more fun than your anxiety tells you!

(what is that?!) for 97 more years morty (what are you talking about!?). i want that mcnugget dipping sauce morty!

anonymous asked:

You said its much more interesting to have a character try to fit into their role and fail then a princess character who automatically rebels. Can you tell me more about it and what makes it interesting? I really like your insight when it comes to stories and fairytales.

Ah! Thank you! Well, I really dislike the ‘Rebellious Princess’ narrative for three reasons, and I’ll just go into them below before talking about more interesting approaches

  1. It’s Classist

This is the most obvious issue. Your hero is a rebel princess, born into a life of status and privilege. She is the 1%.

You remember this comic making its rounds on social media?

Your rebel Princess is Richard.

Every time the Princess laments that she’s trapped by her own wealth and status, she ignores the fact that her problems are minute and petty in the grander narrative. Princesses are inherently privileged, and it’s ignorant to ignore their own wealth in favour of chasing some bohemian ‘freedom’.

We get it, kiddo. You hate needlework and you don’t want to be Queen. But your kingdom is in the middle ages, people eat dirt and no one is happy. The Princess might yearn for some vague concept of ‘something more’, but that’s myopic and selfish when her people yearn for electricity and proper sanitation.

I have extreme difficulty enjoying Star vs the Forces of Evil.

2. It pits the hero against other women to make her rebellion look good.

So you have your Princess who rejects the institution of traditional femininity. All well and good. But in order for her to be rebellious, there must be an institution in the first place for her to reject.

Enter The Institution. Call her St Olga’s Reform School for Wayward Princesses, call her Prudence, or Marina Del Rey. No matter what she looks or acts like, you know you’ve seen her before. She’s prudish, traditionally feminine, tough as nails, and probably sews her own ballgowns on her weekends off.

She is a perfectly good woman in any other sense, but since she’s everything your princess doesn’t want to be, conflict has to arise from the princess fighting her and her ideals.

And of course, the princess will win, because traditional femininity is evil.

Oh, Prudence, you deserved so much more than the Disney Sequel you got.

In a feminist world there’s nothing wrong with fighting old ideas of what women should act like - but in a postmodern feminist world, one must be aware that some women willingly are quite happy to be traditionally feminine, and some don’t have the luxury of choice to pick whatever kind of femininity they embody.

Pitting the ‘feminist’ rebel princess against traditionally feminine women is a microaggression in itself: we have never needed to sell men an empowerment narrative by pitting men against each other, so why start here? Also note that Disney is extremely fond of this, especially in marketing Frozen and its reboot movies by saying it’s better than ‘classic princess’ movies because ‘classic princesses’ needed men:

“That’s a bit different from the animation, I think, it’s not about Cinderella just being rescued by a man.”

3. It’s a White-Feminist narrative.

Oh GOD is it a White-Feminist narrative!

I said before that some woman don’t have the luxury to be rebel princesses, and some willingly want to be traditionally femme. This is especially so in POC cultures.

In Chinese culture, the concept of filial piety is a very important one: to be dutiful and respectful to your parents, and placing your family’s honour and their values above your own.

Mulan does not have the luxury of ‘rebellion’. Rebellion would dishonour her family, rebellion would shame her parents. Mulan’s entire character arc exists to teach her to balance her parent’s needs with her own, and it ends with her bestowing her war prizes to her father - at the height of her own glory she doesn’t forget where she came from - and it’s the greatest show of honour she could possibly give.

To turn Mulan into a rebel princess would be to undermine everything her culture and the folklore surrounding her represents. A lot of these themes are repeated in Moana - how much of yourself do you give up to make your parents happy? What is the true meaning of tradition? When you exist for other people can you still know who you are?

Moana is great. Watch it.

Making White Feminist statements like ‘my princesses isn’t like a classic princess! she feminist and doesnt need to listen to anyone!’ does a massive disservice to other cultures who have to balance force of will with filial piety.

So, about those Interesting Narratives…

Pans Labyrinth (2006) is thematically about ‘rebellion’ - it’s set in the Spanish Civil War and half of its narrative is about fighting a military dictatorship. It’s other half is about Ofelia (a fairy changeling), who is given instructions so that she can return to the magical world. Ofelia proceeds to mess all of them up: she eats from a magical table when she’s told to take no food, she refuses to kill an infant to open a gate to her homeworld. While excited to be a princess, Ofelia struggles to cope with the morally dubious or downright strange demands she’s presented with. Her rebellion isn’t a girl with a weapon in her hand: it’s a girl who legitimately wants to be a princess but isn’t cruel enough to do what it takes to get there.

intro: what am i to you is a masterpiece and it deserves to be talked about more. that song is only 2:46s long, and yet namjoon tells a full story that begins with emotions like excitement, happiness, and hope and ends with complete opposite emotions (anger, despair, helplessness) with only love as the emotion that bridges them. for me personally, the best part of the song is the transition. the build up. i love the way the music, along with namjoon’s voice gradually sounds more and more desperate. and when the emotions finally flip, so does the music: the light violins and synth sounds are pushed back and replaced by heavy drum beats that the now angry lyrics bounce off to. and despite all of this change in a short frame of time, it still flows perfectly. IT STILL FLOWS PERFECTLY. what the fuck honestly?????? genius

Things I’d like to see on Booklr
  • Reviews for backlist books. I don’t care if you’re reading something old for the first time. You just read Sabriel by Garth Nix? Or the Lumatere Chronicles by Melina Marchetta?  Or maybe Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz? DO A REVIEW FOR IT! Maybe it’s not the newest and hottest book right now, but there are so many older novels to discover and reviews help that!
  • Buzz for non-YA novels. I love the Young Adult genre/age group. But there’s a TON of books that aren’t Young Adult that would be fun to discuss and share! Occasionally we get non-YA books that get popular because of their appeal to the YA audience (The Night Circus, Shades of Magic, Song of Achilles, etc) but I wanna hear about more! Tell me about the mystery you’re reading, the poetry book you picked up, the old sci-fi series you found on sale! There’s a lot of books out there! If YA isn’t your thing, no worries, I still want to see blogs and posts for books outside that area!
  • Support Reviews. I’m just as guilty of this. I don’t tend to reblog or like reviews, even though I constantly skim, read, and look at what bloggers have to say. Reviews are essential to book blogging in general and great for the book industry! We should reblog and comment on them more! Show reviews your support, that you’re out there reading what they have to say, let them know if you pick up the book or not, share the review so others see it and maybe discover their next favorite book!
  • Discussion Posts. I know that some say that longer posts just don’t work on tumblr, but I love seeing discussion posts and reviews on booklr! Wordpress blogs are more likely to have discussion posts or just longer posts about books and stuff in the community, but I would love to see this stuff on here to. The fun thing about tumblr is it’s a very versatile blogging platform, from just reblogging to adding your own content into the community. Maybe we’ve all skipped over a long post because “TL;DR” but I think that reblogs and comments are perfect for talking and adding to discussion posts, so why don’t we all utilize it more?
  • Support non-English Readers! Every time I see a photo of a book that’s not in English, I notice that it has significantly fewer notes than of pictures of that book in English. I’m not sure what’s up with that? A lot of times you can recognize the book because the covers are the same, it just happens to have the title in Russian or Spanish or whatever language. Lots of people don’t read in English and that’s GREAT! There’s a lot of languages out there and those who read in their native language deserve support for their blog too! (Obviously)
  • REBLOG REBLOG REBLOG. bookavid used to talk about this sometimes, but likes aren’t always great for bloggers. I put a LOT of love and work into my blog and so does everyone else in the community. We work hard on posts, reviews, and photos! Reblog them if you like them! That lets us know you like what we’re doing and more people see it and we feel validated for our hard work. It’s always depressing when I post something and it gets 10 likes so I post it again and wonder if people don’t like it? Is it worth putting the work into if no one sees it or seems to care? I know some people try to stick to the theme of their blog but when you can, support bloggers and reblog instead of just liking it and scrolling on!

I know booklr has felt dead recently, but I’m not giving up until you pry this blog from my cold dead hands! Reach out, talk to people, let me know if you want me to check out your blog, talk to me about books, talk to other people about books, make posts even if you feel your blog is small and unimportant (it’s not, fyi). I love this community and I want to see it thriving again! I want to talk to you guys, hear your thoughts, get recommendations, and make friends

-Dakota
