The written appreciation and understanding of literature, or any kind of artistic endeavour, is absolutely central to a decent society. Why d'you think books are the first things that the fascists burn?

REBECCA EPSTEIN (Starter for Ten)
Alright, slightly an excuse to post some Rebecca Hall because I love her, but I do also adore this character. I was a student activist, so anyone who spends their Christmas leafleting against the government is fine by me. A wonderfully complex character whose background is only hinted at, but I think that’s a good thing. (Also, if you haven’t seen this film, track it down. Not sure how well it works for a non-British audience, but definitely worth a look.)
