The Pontiac Tempest intrigues me, with it’s half of a V8 engine (194ci), rope drive shaft, and rear trans-axle. This ‘62 is certainly a good looking car, and it has working AC, 3 speed manual, and proper hubcaps. And best of all, it’s a convertible!
AMG CLS63 S Shooting Brake “Performance with unique Design”.
MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE AND EFFICIENCY
The AMG CLS63 S-Model Shooting Brake provides a new dimension of performance and driving pleasure: rated at 430kW (585hp) and 800 Nm, the AMG 5.5-Liter V8 Biturbo Engine offers 20kW (28hp) more power and 80Nm more torque than the AMG CLS63 Shooting Brake. The AMG-specific 4MATIC all-wheel drive, an AMG rear axle differential lock and axle elastokinematics designed with an even greater emphasis on performance also contribute to the car’s outstanding driving dynamics. The CLS 63 AMG S-Model Shooting Brake ideally combines the driving pleasure of rear-wheel drive with the traction benefits of all-wheel drive – whether in daily use or on the race track.

AMG GT S “The Hammer ” ⚒😈🔨☠️
DRIVING PERFORMANCE FOR SPORTS CAR ENTHUSIASTS
The already outstanding performance of the Mercedes-AMG GT is boosted still further in the Mercedes-AMG GT S. The AMG 4.0-Liter V8 Biturbo engine with 375kW (510hp) and 650Nm delivers a further 35kW (48hp) of output and additional 50 Nm of torque. The AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension is adjustable in three stages – from comfortable through to sportily taut. Further highlights include the electronic AMG rear axle differential lock with variable locking effect and the additional “RACE” transmission mode, which configures the vehicle systems to make them suitable for circuit racing. The combination of aluminum spaceframe, V8 biturbo engine with dry sump lubrication, seven-speed dual clutch transmission in transaxle configuration at the rear axle, locking differential, sports suspension with aluminum double-wishbone suspension and the low kerb weight of 1570 kilograms delivers racetrack performance. The concept with front mid-engine and transmission in transaxle configuration makes for a beneficial weight distribution of 47 to 53 percent between the front and rear axle. In conjunction with the vehicle’s low center of gravity this translates into extremely agile handling and permits high cornering speeds. With a favorable power-to-weight ratio of 3.0 kilograms per hp, the Mercedes‑AMG GT S self-confidently lines up alongside the very best in its segment. The sports car also sets a new benchmark figure for fuel economy: fuel consumption of 9.6 – 9.4 liters per 100 kilometers (NEDC combined) constitutes a considerable increase in efficiency.

When things heat up, they expand. And when that thing is the axle shaft to your drive train, you’re going to have to make adjustments, or else.
Michael Guarraia kneels down next to a metal part that just popped off the rear axle. “OK guys, listen up,” he tells his team. “The drive train broke again and we need to find a sustainable solution. This can’t happen during the race.”
The team members nod and furrow their brows. Some scratch their heads.
Welcome to Kinetic Sculpture Race Club at Arbutus Middle School. Guarraia is a science teacher at the suburban Maryland school, about a 20-minute drive from Baltimore.
He and two dozen students are on an eight-month mission to design and build a human-powered kinetic sculpture that they’re going to race on a 15-mile obstacle course around Baltimore Harbor.
What, exactly, is a “kinetic sculpture”?
Basically it’s a giant piece of art that contains movement within it. It can be powered by people only — no motors allowed — so the designers have to get really creative.
