Does your OC feel isolated or unrelatable due to the experience their PA brings with it? If so, how do they deal with it?
Does their PA cause issues in daily life? I.e., if they’re inhuman in a human universe and they can’t go to a doctor or risk the doctor realizing they are not human, super abilities with physical drawbacks, they don’t have control of their abilities and must keep to themselves, et cetera… If so, how do they feel about it?
Does your OC’s PA affect their dietary habits so that they are unusual or problematic by their society’s standards?
What are some routines, if any, of self-care that your OC must engage in that are not typical of their society? I.e., having to file their teeth, maintaining magical rituals, drinking blood…
Does your OC have knowledge that they can’t share with the rest of their world that could improve it if it didn’t cause chaos? I.e., a character from the future knowing about technology not yet invented, but they can’t reveal themselves by sharing it?
Would your OC give up their PA if they could? Why or why not?
L. For the Writer/Owner

What do you consider the biggest themes in your character, if any?
Did you create the character to be like yourself, did they end up being like yourself, or are they very different from you?
Would you hang out with your OC if you could?
Which OC do you think is the most decent morally or behaviorally?
AKA, which is supposed to a “good guy”?
Which OC do you think is the worst morally or behaviorally?
AKA, which is supposed to be a “bad guy”?
Something I’ve run into quite a lot while doing the whole “project manager” thing is artist who are openly hostile to the idea of engaging with the “business side” of what they do. There’s this broad perception that that business side of art means advertising and merchandising and selling out, and while it certainly can mean that, a lot of it is much more basic - and it’s stuff that’s absolutely not optional if art is anything beyond a personal fun-time hobby for you.
1. Having reality-based metrics for time and resource commitment - or, in plain English, making sure that what you’re charging for your commissions is actually based on how hard they are to do.
It’s downright shocking how rare this is. I’ve encountered digital artists who routinely charge less for a spec that takes them much longer to do based on purely abstract notions of how “complex” the piece is, without reference to their actual, demonstrable time commitment. Heck, I’ve run into a traditional artist who ended up making nickles per hour for a major commission because she hadn’t correctly tallied up the cost of the art supplies expended in producing it!
The only way to arrive at appropriate metrics is based on evidence; your off-the-cuff estimates will always, always be wrong. Literally time yourself as you work on pieces of various types, and write down how long it took you. And never assume that it will be quicker next time; that’s called the planning fallacy, and it will eat you alive if you let it.
2. Having a lifecycle management plan for the tools you need to work.
Tablets don’t last forever. Neither do computers. Even software can become so outdated and incompatible as to lose utility over time. Basically, your tools have a finite lifespan, and you need to have a plan for replacing them as needed.
I understand that many independent artists don’t have the means to save up for new and replacement tools, and rely on second-hand hardware, gifts from friends and family, or donation drives on their blogs to fill the gap. That’s fine - artists relying on patronage has a long and distinguished history. The important thing is that these avenues be part of a plan, not a desperate scramble after some 100% foreseeable circumstance has rendered you unable to work.
Data on average time-to-failure for your hardware is readily accessible online; if, for example, that particular brand of tablet tends to last about three years, then you need to start organising your donation drive or dropping hints for your birthday at two years and six months, even if your equipment seems perfectly fine. The same goes for software; the vendor’s support window (i.e., the time after which they’ll stop publishing bugfixes and security updates) for your version of the software is a known factor.
3. Having a formal requirements-gathering and signoff procedure.
I know that sounds like a lot of boring paperwork, and to be honest it kind of is, but it’s also critical for anything you’re not drawing for yourself. Language is an imprecise medium; based on a few minutes of casual conversation, you can easily end up in situations where you and your commissioner have totally different understandings of what the job entails, yet you’re both convinced you’ve understood the other perfectly.
You should have a detailed written description of what’s involved, and your client’s explicit, documented confirmation that they’ve read, understood and agreed to it, before you draw a single stroke. This includes timelines and deliverables as well as content; I’ve run into numerous cases of clients who’ve alleged non-delivery of services based on their understanding that they’d be receiving a traditional, ink-and-paper piece where the artist understood the commission to involve only digital work, and more than one case where a client started hollering about breach of contract less than 24 hours after signing off because they honestly thought it would be done already.
You have to nip that in the bud; this level of documentation is a bare minimum for anyone who takes money to do art, not a nice-to-have.
So I finally went through omgeverythingplease and here are things that I didn’t know
Bitty is OBSESSED with food. OBSESSED.
Boy has a *problem*
Like I know we like to headcanon that Bitty goes into some sort of media, but he’s more likely to become a food critic. Basically he’s more into the “baking” part of “baking vlog” than the “vlog” part.
Holster is a grumpy messy bitch.
For real, the team seriously debated who was grumpier: Jack or Holster
(for like, a hot second, before the answer became obvious)
(It’s Jack. Jack is the grumpiest)
Ransom and Bitty are very close friends. Close enough that Bitty chirps Holster that he’s being replaced via tweet.
Ransom and Bitty get PSLs from “ ‘Bucks”.
That is a quote. Eric Richard Bittle has called Starbucks, ‘Bucks.
(I bet he calls Target, Tar-zhay too)
This one was a bit more analytical: we found out about Jack coaching peewee via Bitty’s twitter
Bitty is the one who tells us that the Jack says the kids call him “Coach Z”
Because Bitty is the one who typed out the tweet, if the kids called Jack “Coach Zed”, he would have spelled out “Zed.”
Therefore we can assume that the kids called Jack “Coach Zee” and not “Coach Zed”
However this revelation by Jack was immediately followed by a debate over Zee vs. Zed. So who really knows?
I still don’t know how either of them pronounces “pecan”
Aries: Sparks. Aries is the youngest sign, and can be seen as a microcosm of life. Their defining trait is their enthusiasm, and it is in this enthusiasm that they find their power, their immense capacity for good and for evil. They hold so much fire within them, and yet, there is a certain simplicity and purity of spirit in the Aries.
Taurus: Somewhere Tonight. Slow, steady, and stable, it may sometimes seem that Taurus has little going on in their life. This may be true. They are not always interested in exploring the extremities of life, but maybe they should be. Still, there is a certain beauty in continuity, so long as it does not lead to monotony.
Gemini: Heart of Chambers. Beneath Gemini’s many personalities lies a biting pessimism. They tend to bury themselves with hobbies and interests and change in order to escape reality. Gemini is much more complex than many may give them credit for, and a challenge they face is finding truth in themselves. There is so much going on inside of them that it’s hard for them to land somewhere.
Cancer: Turtle Island. The thing about Cancer is that they seem very dramatic, crying all of the time and making a big deal out of everything, but they’re not acting differently from the way that they truly feel. Cancer has deep emotions, and they’re not afraid to hide it. When their melancholy gets the best of them, they may retreat to sadness and be totally inconsolable, but I find they usually turn out okay in the end.
Leo: Lazuli. If the Leo nature could be shrunk down to one word, inversely, that word would be “big.” Even in the small things they do, they attract attention and exist with dignity. They are fierce individualists, but they pay a fair amount of attention to the way others respond to them. The goal of the Leo is to accept their magnetism without using it for manipulation.
Virgo: Take Care. Virgo is defined by a certain ethereal quality. Although they are Earth signs, something about them is certainly of the heavens (perhaps a trait borrowed from their sister sign?). They are masters of service and duty, so what better song to represent them than one about taking care of others?
Libra: She’s So Lovely. A beautiful, yet sinister song, there is hardly a better choice for the duality of Libra. All too often, Libra is seen as ordinary or forgettable, when they are really masters of intrigue. They carry immense power in the way they relate with others. Whether they use this gift for good or for evil is up to them.
Scorpio: Beyond Love. As a sign ruled by Mars, Scorpio may tend on the violent side, yet as a water sign, love is a big theme in life to them. They seek this all-encompassing, transformative experience that is literally “beyond love.” Scorpios can never settle for the commonplace affections that most people endure. They’re after something spiritual.
Sagittarius: Zebra. The carefree Sagittarian disposition may not be an act, but it can certainly be said that they have a hard time connecting with the consequences of their actions. They value freedom yet rarely consider permanence, so they live in a state of absolute honesty and truth, which is sometimes quite admirable and other times highly chaotic.
Capricorn: Astronaut. The sea goat’s journey is one of self-reliance, a quest to master themselves. Thusly, they believe that they should carry the weight of the world alone. Yet it is only when the Capricorn learns to trust in others that the are truly able to be their best selves.
Aquarius: Zebra. The Aquarius is adamant about becoming unknowable. They appreciate their privacy, and no matter how well one may think they know them, they always keep a bit of their character to themselves. They are wild and free, but their inner Saturnian sense of responsibility keeps them in check of themselves. They’re perfectly capable of existing alone, but they shouldn’t.
Pisces: Saltwater. Devotional love comes like second nature to Pisces. As the last sign, they are born with their hearts highest in heaven, and their love verges on angelic due to its pure, selfless essence. Their love is boundless and perhaps not based in reality, yet it flows in endless waves forever.
Our ego often clouds our minds, creating alternate realities based on current experiences. Many times in your day, bring your awareness into present and realise that you’re alright, regardless of anything going on.
I used to watch a lot of anime before, but when I moved away from my friends whom were fellow fans of Japanese animation, I became really bad at taking any initiative to sit down and watch anything new. So my New Years resolution was to simply watch more anime during 2016 (for inspiration and entertainment)! ;D And in order to prove to said friends that I am indeed keeping my promise, as well as to take the opportunity to recommend good shows to others, I will be sharing my progress list and general opinions.
OBS: Some of these shows are not appropriate for an younger audience!! Before viewing, please check out the recommended age restrictions, genre and potential trigger warnings!
END OF YEAR UPDATE: 25 shows in total! Not bad at all considering that I maybe watched 2-3 shows the year before. But I still have a lot of series that I want to see, so don´t be surprised if I make a new post for 2017. ;)
My personal top 3? I would say Death Parade, Re:Zero and Madoka Magica.
Mushishi (S1) - Not a single cliffhanger in the whole show, so it makes for perfect bedtime stories for teens/adults. The english dub was really good and the landscape art is 10/10.
Kino No Tabi/Kino´s Journey (S1) - Do not let the simple and cute style fool you! This show contains murder, cannibalism, suicide and war!! And it asks the hard questions in life!! RUN if you do not want to contemplate the meaning of existence!!
One Punch Man (S1+3OVA) - OK, now I know why this is in 4th place on IMDB´s “Best TV-series” list. The animation is some of the best I have ever seen in an action anime! It is simply stunning to look at and it is fun ride all the way to the out of this world (literally) finale.
Sakurako-san No Ashimoto Ni Wa Shitai Ga Umatteiru/Beautiful Bones: Sakurako’s Investigation (S1) - Pretty much like an anime version of the TV-show Bones. I love mysteries where you have to follow clues in order to solve a murder so a second season is strongly desired.
Owari No Seraph/Seraph Of The End (S1+S2+10OVA) - Pretty predictable, but the the bloody fight scenes are fabulous. Needs even more angst thou (…she said even though a bunch of children are butchered in the very first episode….). >:3
Death Parade (S1) - And there is all the angst!!! Do not watch if you do not like pain in your soul!! Heart cannot be repaired!! AHRUM!! Excuse me. The show is really well written and the artists really knew how to create the perfect atmosphere to tell this dark story.
Free! (S1+S2+4OVA) - It feels like everyone and their grandmother has seen this show, so of course I fell on the bandwagon. For the first 11 episodes thou I was very neutral to it… But goddammit the first season finale had me sheering, squealing and tearing up!! (Let Rin be happy!!) Sadly only the S2 OVA had me laughing; apart from that episode, the humor was not at all up my alley.
Zankyou No Terror/Terror In Resonance (S1) - I really like the style and the smooth animation in this one. And DANG, THAT ENDING! If you like thrillers that are completely based on reality and science (like Beautiful Bones) then this could be perfect for you.
Wolf’s Rain (S1+4OVA) - I remember trying to watch this when I was like 15, but I never got past episode 3 for some reason. Which is a real shame because I think that I would really, really liked it then. Perfectly angsty and tragic for little wannabe-emo-teen-me. Do you like dark fantasies with pretty people/wolves? Then do not miss out on this one!
Mahon Shoujo Madoka Magica/Puella Magi Madoka Magica (S1+1 movie) - Oh shit. Oh holy shit. I would never have guessed that this show, this thing that looks so darn innocent and cute in design and summary, would have me in so much emotional turmoil (very much like Steven Universe in that way). But seriously; amoungst all of the animes on this list, this is in my opinion the one with the most captivating story-line, plot development and characters (I simply had to watch all 12 episodes in one sitting). Some people hate the ending, but I think it worked really well (even though all the tears could have clouded my judgement). And if you liked the show, then you MUST watch the movie Rebellion! Also: One of the the best English dubs I have ever heard in my life!! UPDATE: I have now seen everything twice… I cry every times I see Homura on screen. (O_Q)
Kuragehime/Princess Jellyfish (S1) - I watched this before when it first came out but I had a hard time remembering anything from it apart from the characters. Glad I gave it a re-watch because it´s super cute and silly; perfect for when you just want to give your feels a break from all the angst and suffering other shows come with (*stares at the one above*). I also highly recommend the live-action movie based on this! :D
Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi/Erased (S1) - This show is both intriguing and stunning! I love how modern animation uses lightning and this show is a good example of that (same goes for Death Parade). Downside: Stress, stress and even more stress!! Please, just let the small children live!!! My heart cannot take this torture!! D,,X But the stress aside, it was all worth it at the end.
Jigoku Shojo/Hell Girl (S1) - My Golb, the young girls in this look exactly like the characters I would draw at 14-16. X,D The animation is just okay, and it takes a long time before we learn anything worthwhile about the main characters. But what made me watch a whole season (26 ep) was because of the interesting stories in each episode. It was fascinating to see how little/much it was required for people to give up their souls for eternal damnation in return for the death of a person they hated.
Steins;Gate (S1+1OVA) - It took me a while to get into the story, but by the half way point, when shit got really intense, I was waaay hooked. I usually do not like stories that involve time-traveling because it makes my head hurt, but this (Like Madoka Magica) was really well written. I have very little to fault the show on ((apart from how the harassment of a trans girl is used for comedy in at least 2 episodes…)) and would recommend!
Love Live! School Idol Project (S1+S2+1 movie) - Decided to watch something really cute with sis again and this is what we ended up with. And oh darn it, it is cute alright! Everything is so sugary sweet and lovely, and good music too that you will hum on for weeks. Apart form the occasional funky looking CGI (which actually looks really good in the movie), the animation is top notch. A simple story about a bunch of girls and their lives and friendships when guys are not in the picture.
Makura No Danshi/Pillow Boys (S1) - Finally met up with my anime loving friends and this was one of the things we saw. The episodes in this are very short, all of which are about different types of guys talking to YOU before you go to sleep. It´s… different to say the least. Who was my favourites? Hmmm… I guess the guy from Ep 2, since I recall him the clearest. He also felt like someone who had known me for a while and I appreciated that. WARNING: Ep 10 did give me some extreme rapist vibes! BAD TOUCH!! (O_O)
Koutetsujou No Kabaneri/Kabaneri Of The Iron Fortress (S1) - If you like bloody action of high quality with humans fighting against superhuman enemies then this is most surely something for you. Many parallels can be pulled to Attack on Titian, but I would never call this a rip-off. All the animation is in the A+ class and there is this wonderful colouring/lighting effect they sometimes use for close ups which makes the characters look absolutely stunning. The level of details on the character designs also stuck out to me (A+ there too).
Shokugeki no Soma / Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma (S1+S2+1OVA) - Also known as food porn. I had never heard of this until Dan and Phil mentioned it in a video and when I understood that it was about food I had to check it out. I love shows/stories that are centered around cooking (Hell´s Kitchen, Master Chef, Kitchen Princess, etc) so I really got hooked on this. Not only is the food animated beautifully, but you learn a lot at the same time. And the absurd (dirty) humor is so redicoulus that I cannot help but laugh.
Re:Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu / Re:ZERO - Starting Life in Another World (S1) - When I first saw posters for this show they never caught my interest. It looked so much like the generic fantasy harem anime that I just ignored it. But then a friend forced me to actually see it and BOY was I wrong. Let me put it this way: Imagine Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni but with a higher budget and set in a fantasy land. So if you enjoy blood, gore and mind games, check this baby out!
Ghost Hunt (S1) - I know that I had seen this anime when it was new, but apparently I never saw the final episodes of the season since I had no idea what was going to happen. But glad that I saw this again! Not the scariest or goriest show out there, but it is fun and entertaining. My favorite part is how all the characters get along even though they have different beliefs and ways of dealing with the unknown.
Psycho-Pass (S1 + S2 + 1 movie) - Everybody were recommending this show to me and I understand why. There is detective work, blood/gore, and some kick-ass action; just right for me. However, I am not into all the tech porn (you know - when the put so much time and focus on weapons and other technology when they open up, charge, fire, etc. Not my thing!), but it was still a good anime. The only downside was that I felt very little when characters died, which was strange since I usually get attached very easily and morn fictional characters on a regular basis.
Mayoiga / The Lost Village (S1) - Oh maaan. I was expecting something along the lines of Battle Royale, but this was nothing but a big disappointment. There was so much potential in the first episodes for this to become the next Another or Corpse Party, but nooo. Lack of death aside, I guess it had it´s creepy moments, but the finale was not worth the wait in my opinion. I was actually so upset by the final twist that I sat down and basically created an alternative version of the story. Same basic structure, characters, feel and pitch, but with a more classic psychological horror plot. I would also have put the focus on other characters over the two basic cardboard cutouts (I vote for Valkana and Nanko!).
Corpse Party: Tortured Souls - Bougyakusareta Tamashii No Jukyou (5OVA) - I had seen this before when it first came out, but since I am still in a Halloween mood I decided to give it a re-watch. Totally one of those shows that I cannot look away from (not only because I need the subs, but you know what I mean). Spooky details all over the place blended with intestines and body horror. I may not be a big fan of the Elfen Lied-wannabe character designs, but I would totally watch it a third time when I once again forget the ending. I was so shocked that all I could do was to stare at the screen while the credits passed by.
Mira Nikki / The Future Diary (S1) - That moment you like the premise and concept of a show, but dislike the main characters. Damn that moment. It could be that the English dub makes the protagonists seem more douchey than what they actually are in the oringal Japanese version, or it´s just that they are both written poorly (IMO). But I like the background characters and there is some genuine tension throughout the show, so I watched it all.
Yuri!!! On ICE (S1) - I had been looking forward to this since the first trailer, so it was really really hard for me to wait until all episodes had aired before I had a marathon. But gah! It was worth it! There are no cliffhangers no, but the show just makes you feel so warm and fluffy that you want to see more right away. It is a sports anime, but the characters and relationships are so well developed that I would say to give it a chance even if sports isn’t for you. You will still fall in love with everybody and you just want them all to win gold and be happy!!
PS: Oh dear brother of mine, if you are reading this, be prepared for an anime night next time we meet. You and Jorge will love this! ;D
Kimi No Na Wa / Your Name (movie) - Hands down one of the best MOVIES I have seen this year. Well made, a story that pulls you in, heart-wrenching and beautiful music. This is totally up there amongst Wolf Children and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and I will definitely be showing this to all my friends, no matter if they are into anime or not.
please, stop the milk fic jokes, it’s 2017 and the milk fic was never relevant. also even if there wasn’t all that stuff about the author the fact the people have repeatedly brought it up to ryan and brendon is just unpleasant, crosses so many boundaries and even if the author wasn’t gross that in itself would be enough to say let the milk fic die.
i can’t fucking stand seeing people say they think harry looks ungrateful or comes across like a diva by not posting on social media or attending events or breathing the way they’d like him to. because harry, aside from dunkirk and another man, really did take a break from the public eye for the past year, and somehow, even though he’s barely been seen, people still want to scrutinize him for NOT being seen and say that that shows he’s snobby or above everyone for not tweeting or some other bullshit excuse or say that him working on an album is completely implausible because he hasn’t talked about it and the rumors about an album merely existing make him look bad. and i just don’t understand this incessant need to tear him down when he literally, LITERALLY has not done anything.
because here’s the thing - he’s had his life on display since he was SIXTEEN YEARS OLD, and when he was younger, you could tell he was much less guarded. and you can see as he got older and saw the way the media twisted his words specifically, the way the media made him into the person they wanted instead of who he is, and the way the media ignored everything he actually did and said in favor of making him their punching bag, he pulled back and became more private, and can you blame him? if you had to try to justify WHO YOU ARE to the entire fucking world and no one would listen and would continue to print shitty articles about you when you’re only nineteen years old, i guarantee you’d pull the fuck back and want some genuine time away from everything, too. he’s never been one to post about every little thing he’s doing, and why so many of you are against him doing anything at all in the public eye is truly fucking baffling and proves you hate him even when you say you don’t, especially when people on here try to jump through hoops to make up stories about how awful he is.
to watch people consistently put him under a microscope because he doesn’t follow the plans they have crafted for him themselves that aren’t based on reality is ridiculous and infuriating. he doesn’t have to live up to whatever random career path people of tumblr dot com have come up with for him, and to get mad at him over some weird plan random people on this website have made up is beyond fucking stupid and i’m tired of seeing it.
It’s the Leftists who police beliefs: Thoughtcrime.
It’s the Leftists who have delusional beliefs not based in reality: 2 + 2 = 5.
It’s the Leftists who engage in contradictory beliefs: Doublethink.
Newspeak: The Left has created a defined grammar and language for people and failure to use it results in verbal abuse and harassment. Two good examples are the use of the terms “Person of Color” and insistence on the use of special pronouns “Ze/zir/zirs”. Misgendering someone is a serious offense.
Thoughtcrime: The Left has blacklisted a plethora of beliefs and ideas as unacceptable. Belief in the existence of race as a biological reality. Belief in the existence of sex as a biological reality. Belief that transsexualism is a mental disorder. Belief that diversity is undesirable. Any of these positions will get you mercilessly harassed by Leftists (in person you may receive a beating).
2 + 2 = 5: The Left has erected all kinds of dogmatic belief systems that one must believe. You must believe homosexuality is acceptable. You must believe feminism was and is a force for good. You must believe in all kinds of privilege, most notably White privilege and male privilege. You must believe that diversity is a strength.
Doublethink: This is highly related to 2 + 2 = 5. While the prevailing dogma is that sex is a social construct, one must also believe that a man can remove his genitalia, pump himself full of female hormones, and become a woman.
The Left lacks self-awareness to the point that they can sit around and watch 1984 and think “Wow, this is exactly like Donald Trump!”
bachelor parties that are “prison” themed (because marriage is a prison??? get it??? GET IT???)
“it’s not a real relationship unless you fight once a day!!!!”
<proposes to girl> <marries girl> <spends rest of life complaining about being married to girl>
“today my wife asked me to go with her… TO THE MALL! WOMEN AMIRITE?!”
men who have been married to a woman for 10+ years who STILL freak at the mere mention of periods
that whole “men are from mars women are from venus” bullshit that happened in the 90s (which, i may add, was based off a book written by somebody who claimed to have credentials he didn’t really have and has had all his theories debunked)
women being expected to cook and clean for their husbands and remind them to bathe and essentially act like their mothers
women being expected to take their husbands’ last name but people absolutely balking at the idea of the man taking the woman’s
wives on tv who are portrayed as shrewish killjoys for… expecting the husband to pitch in and help with the housework once and a while
tv marriages where the couples seem to borderline hate each other
tv marriages that are based entirely on manipulation, name-calling, and nonstop fighting and most of the conflict comes from both parties refusing to just sit down and talk about it or to compromise
entire reality tv shows based on dysfunctional marriages where the couples goes on tv to fight it out
i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again: straight people are fucking weird
