Someone can be madly in love with you and still not be ready. They can love you in a way you have never been loved and still not join you on the bridge. And whatever their reasons you must leave. Because you never ever have to inspire anyone to meet you on the bridge. You never ever have to convince someone to do the work to be ready. There is more extraordinary love, more love that you have never seen, out here in this wide and wild universe. And there is the love that will be ready.

Love returns and you have
just pulled yourself out of water.
Love comes in from the sand and
turns honey into topaz and topaz
back into honey again.
Its hands full, a shade of sun glow,
a basket of mornings.
But when love returns
your eyes are still tuning in
a lighter shade of blue.
Hair sneezing, breeze low, and slowly
stumbling into skin. Love,
returns, and you aren’t ready.
Love returns and you have
only just pulled your heart
out of water.

I’m ready.

I’m ready to take better care of myself this year.

I’m ready to document what’s going on and what I’m feeling day in and day out.

I’m ready to not let anymore time slip away where I am not trying my best to be happy.

I’m ready to try and ditch the sweatpants and sweatshirts, wear makeup again, brush my hair daily, and try everything in my power to make myself feel better and get my confidence back.

I don’t know when I let myself slip away, but I think I’m ready to come back.
