ręce-dziesięć bezwładnych palców
opuszczone absolutnie
niepotrzebne nikomu
ślepe

hands - ten fingers disabled
abandoned absolutely
useless to anyone

Pomiędzy słowem i miłością
(Eng. Between a Word and Love)

self-portrait
poetry by H. Poświatowska (excerpt)
translation by Marek Lugowski

nie ma żadnej przestrzeni
pomiędzy słowem i miłością
jesteś w przestrzeni
pomiędzy słowem i miłością
nie ma żadnej pewności
tylko słowo miłość
miłość w słowie

kocham cię bardziej niż wszystkie słowniki świata

there is no space
between a word and love
you are in the space
between a word and love
there is not any confidence
only the word love
love within a word

I love you more than all the world’s dictionaries

ten pocałunek
pachniał jak rozgryziona łodyga maku
czerwono posypał się z warg
ten pocałunek
zakwitł
w miękkim wgłębieniu dłoni

this kiss
smelled of a chewed poppy stalk
red it spilled from the lips
this kiss
blossomed
in the soft hollow of the palm of hand

self-portrait
 (November 4, 2015)
 TX, U.S.

I had about half an hour of nice daylight today after a few cloudy days. I was trying my best, but it wasn’t that easy as my kitten has got fascinated about my tripod and camera since she arrived to my arms (=home). No, she wouldn’t pose for me; she dreams to be a photographer. By the way, I believe she must be bilingual. Her American name is Prada.

zielonymi księżycami płonę
nad umarłym ociemniałym dniem
nagle wiesz - że mam usta czerwone
- słonym smakiem nadpływa krew -

I burn as green moons
over the dead darkened day
suddenly you know - that my lips are red
- salty tasting here comes the blood -

self-portrait
 (November 8, 2015)

I was invited for a dinner to an Indian family during Diwali. I put on a yellow Indian dress which I was offered a year ago and never worn, but with all the accessories I chose for that outfit and my hairstyle it turned out that I looked more like Frida Kahlo, I guess. Ah, well, everyone has their “fashion idols”. ^.^

Chcę cię nakarmić sobą II

chcę cię nakarmić sobą
dotknij ustami
wypukłego brzegu ziemi
niech cię upije
bolesna świadomość wieczności
kwitnący a przydrożny
zgięty przeczuciem plonu
jak sad jestem

I want to feed you with myself
put your mouth
to the ground’s convex edge
let me make you drink
eternity’s painful awareness
I am like an orchard
blooming and roadside
bent under the portent of the crop
