“CATCH OF THE DAY”

by How & Nosm

Identical twins Raoul and Davide Perre, aka How & Nosm, say they originally arrived at the limited red, black, and white palette for their intricate designs, purely out of practicality—both as a cost savings measure but perhaps even more importantly to limit the volume of cans to be hauled on jobs. Born in Spain, of German heritage, and living in New York they have worked around the world, including South America, Europe, Asia, and across the U.S. Their mesmerizing composition seem friendly and innocuous, but the pair quickly points out that as you peel back layers of detail you find commentary on the darker parts of society. Painted for Coney Art Walls outdoor museum in 2015 this wall is just steps from the ocean and would appear in places to deal with troubling aspects of today’s fishing practices—along with a nod to Nathan’s famous hot dog stand next door.  @hownosm  @coneyislandartwalls
