[Suda] brought the original planning documents to me and asked if I could work on the action parts of the game using this scenario, but… unfortunately, the original planning documents were really strange and incredibly difficult to understand. As you may know, from the past work that Suda51 has done… well, it doesn’t really make much sense, in terms of storylines and scenarios. I read it over and over again but still didn’t get it.

This week’s Japanese magazine leaks reports that Killer is Dead director Goichi Suda is working with Namco Bandai on an upcoming PlayStation 3 side-scrolling game, Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day.

The game is based on Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo’s upcoming film, Short Peace, which will play in theaters later this month. The film is made up of four short films with different styles and stories, directed by Otomo and others. Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day will be considered the fifth short story of the film, but it’s a video game.

Goichi Suda, known for Killer is Dead and No More Heroes, is the scenario writer for the game. He will team up withTokyo Jungle director Yohei Kataoka who will be the directing the upcoming title. According to leaks, Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day is a 2D side-scrolling “high-speed effect action” game, that will require the use of “effects” to take out enemies. The game’s theme will be in a modern day Japan setting.

Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day is currently in development for PlayStation 3.
