Will Clark

I met him at Jack Russell Memorial Stadium in Clearwater, Florida when the Texas Rangers came to play the Philadelphia Phillies in a spring training game in 1996.
This was one of my most memorable autograph experiences. I knew the visitor’s side clubhouse manager, so he invited my brother and I to hang out in the clubhouse and help out. Around the 3rd or 4th inning, Will Clark walks in by himself, as his day was finished. I looked up in awe as I was hoping to get him to sign a picture for me. He looks at me and yells with a booming voice, “WHAT THE F*** ARE YOU LOOKING AT!?” I immediately start stumbling over my words. He then starts laughing and says, “I’m just f***ing with you.”

Will signed an 8x10 photo.

Deltron 3030 (Del the Funky Homosapien, Kid Koala & Dan the Automator)

On April 2, 2014 I went to see Deltron 3030 perform at State Theatre in St. Petersburg, FL.
Hours before the show I met Kid Koala and Dan the Automator. I met Del immediately after the show ended.
I hate asking for multiple autographs, but I really like getting CDs personalized. I knew there’d be limited space having 3 guys sign a CD cover, so, I asked them to sign the Deltron 3030 CD and personalize their solo CDs. Dan the Automator seemed to get a kick out of signing his CD for me. When I asked him to make it out to Dan, he says to Kid Koala, who was standing nearby, “hey, Eric, to Dan from Dan.”
The bottom picture was taken by Domino of Hieroglyphics and posted on Deltron 3030’s Twitter account. I spotted myself in the shot.

Deltron 3030 (Kid Koala, Dan the Automator & Del the Funky Homosapein) signed their self titled debut CD as well as their individual solo CDs, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.A Better Tomorrow EP and I Wish My Brother George Was Here, respectively.

De La Soul

On June 6, 2013, The Kings of the Mic Tour (LL Cool J, Ice Cube, Public Enemy, and De La Soul) performed at The Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The weather was absolutely horrible on this day with heavy rain and strong winds. That didn’t stop me from arriving at the theater at 11am that morning (completely soaked), hoping I’d get the chance to meet the artists as they showed up for sound checks.
De La Soul were the only performers that made the short walk from their hotel to the theater, though, they didn’t walk together. Maseo was the first to arrive of the 3. About an hour later, Dave showed up. At this point the start of the show was approaching. I overheard someone say that it was 7:30, so I started heading for the entrance. I walked half way around the building before realizing that De La Soul were the opening act and Posdnuos still hadn’t showed up. I immediately headed back to where I was standing before. As I’m approaching the spot, I see Pos signing autographs and taking pictures. I got there just in time. It was such a thrill to get one of my all-time favorite albums signed by the whole group. Then, roughly 10 minutes later, I was inside the theater watching them perform. It was an amazing time.

Maseo, Dave and Posdnuos signed the front cover of their debut CD, 3 Feet High and Rising.

On May 10, 2014, Rakim and Slick performed at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Tickets were $25, but for $50 you could get a VIP ticket which included a meet-and-greet after the show. I opted for the more expensive ticket to guarantee myself a chance at meeting 2 of my favorite Hip Hop artists.
I think Jannus may have underestimated how many VIP tickets would be sold, because the VIP area was jam packed after the show. As people were shuffled into the green room, security made it clear that autographs were not allowed. This was disappointing, but as the line was rather large, I could understand that they just wanted people in and out as quickly as possible.
Also disappointing was finding out that Slick Rick did not stick around for the meet-and-greet. Had I known this, I would’ve waited outside for him to leave before getting in line to meet Rakim.
After meeting Rakim and getting a picture with him, I decided to wait outside the venue to see if he would sign for me when he was leaving. About 20 minutes later I see him come out and I approached him for an autograph. He was very cool about it and signed my CD for me.

Rakim signed the cover of The 18th Letter: The Book of Life double CD.

King Kong Bundy

I met him at Philadelphia International Airport in Pennsylvania. I was on a layover on my way to Florida when I happened to recognize him as he was walking around. I pulled out a dollar bill and asked him for an autograph. He then tells me has something better to sign and he opens his bag and pulls out an 8x10 photo. He had told me that he was on his way home from an autograph appearance, that’s why he had the extra photos on him.

King Kong Bundy signed an 8x10 photo.
