ramires nascimento

You know what will hurt? Not seeing that adorable guy who was always making fun of everyone around him, joking away, laughing, crying, singing, dancing, giving his all for the club he played for; everyday in training. My eyes will always search for that cute guy with the curliest hair and that child-like smile and tears will start rolling down when I realize he won’t wear that Chelsea badge when he goes out to play any longer. Just hope he will remember us and cherish the time we spent together. You’ve surely won a million hearts. Thank you Geezer, thank you for the million smiles you spread and the love you sent our way. Please don’t forget us David!! 😢💙

Happy Birthday Rami - 27 years today! Arrived at Chelsea since 2010 and been an integral part of the team ever since! Have some great memories of his first season - he scored some fabulous goals in important matches to help Chelsea win important points. The trend has continued over the seasons. He has now almost cemented his place in Jose’s starting XI with some solid displays at DM alongside both Matic and Lampard. He has also impressed when selected to play for his nat'l team.

Wish you the best Rami! Hope this year brings success at both int'l and club level! Love you, Rambo! 😘💙

CHELSEA FC - FIRST TEAM: Ramires, Midfielder

Ramires Santos do Nascimento joined Chelsea in the summer of 2010 on a four-year contract after one season with Benfica.

Quick, direct and tough-tackling, yet also renowned for his ability to score goals of both high quality and great significance, the Brazilian displays all the hallmarks of the perfect modern footballer.

‘Every player in the world would love to play for Chelsea and it’s a great opportunity that was given to me. I will give my best to repay this chance.’ Ramires on signing for the Blues in August 2010.

Rarely out of the team when fit, his combative, box-to-box style of play has endeared him to managers and supporters alike, and there were few more influential players in our Champions League triumph in 2012.

Drogba had equalized just before the end of normal time. It was a fine corner from Juan Mata and Drogba scored via a perfectly well-timed header that Neuer couldn’t save. The match went into extra time. Chelsea held on, for another half hour. They were not going to let this slip, not without they had put in their best effort. ET ended 1-1 as well and it was time for penalties.

Phillip Lahm, Mario Gomez, Manuel Neuer, Ivica Olic, Bastian Schweinsteiger took penalties for Bayern. Juan Mata, David Luiz, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Didier Drogba took the penalties for Chelsea.

Juan Mata had missed the first penalty for Chelsea, Bayern took a 3-1 lead; but Chelsea scored 3 penalties after that first miss, while Olic and Schweinsteiger missed for Bayern. It all came down to the last kick: Drogba was to take it. He got ready, and went for it, his strike was well-placed and powerful and he had sent Neuer the wrong way. He scored. HE HAD DONE IT! HE HAD DONE IT FOR CHELSEA!!!

Looking back, it has been 2 years. Drogba had won that trophy for Chelsea which had eluded them for years: They had made it to multiple semifinals and a final, and had come so close to winning but it was not to be then; but today was Chelsea’s day and his day, and he did not disappoint. In what was his last match for Chelsea, he had won the Champions League for Chelsea through what was his last ever kick in a blue shirt.

That night was blue. Chelsea had painted Munich blue on that night. The fans were rejoicing, the players were rejoicing, the staff was rejoicing. They had overcome all odds, at all possible levels, including beating their final opponents on their home turf. They had done it. We had done it. :’) 💙
