وجعلنا منهم أئمة يهدون بأمرنا لما صبروا وكانوا بآياتنا يوقنون “And We made from among them leaders guiding by Our command when they were patient and [when] they were certain of Our signs. “ [as-Sajdah 32:24]. (patience is a prequisite for leadership in religion!)

The Sahaabah of the Prophet
صلى الله عليه وسلم
and those who followed them upon righteousness would spend 6 months asking Allaah to ensure they reach Ramadhaan, saying “oh Allaah let us witness another month of ramadhaan” and then the other 6 months they would make dua’ah to Allaah and ask “oh Allaah accept the month of Ramadhaan from us.”
Our generation struggles to find 6 days to dedicate in worship, du’ah and Qur’an. We have grown haughty and negligent, our words say one thing and our actions bear witness to something else.
May Allaah purify our hearts, rectify our intentions and solidify our faith so we willingly, happily and hastily run to Allaah’s obedience.
Narrated from from Aboo Sa'eed al-Khudree (رضي الله عنه):
Allāh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “There is not a servant who fasts a day in the way of Allāh (sincerely), except that Allāh removes his face from the Fire by the distance of seventy years because of that.”
[Reported by al-Bukhārī and Muslim (no. 1153). Translated by Aboo Talhah Dāwood Burbank رحمه الله رحمة واسعة]
Allah was always ready to listen to me, I was just not ready to hear him.
We speak to Allah five times a day atleast, he is always listening, he is the best listener there is. But when did you last allow Allah to speak to you? When did you last long to hear your Lords word? Allah speaks to us through the Qu'ran. Cling tightly to his word, hold it close to your heart, I promise you his word is like a love letter to the soul of the believer.
The month of Ramadhān in which was revealed the Qur’ān, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong).
So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadhān i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Sawm (fasts) must be made up] from other days.
Allāh intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allāh [i.e. to say Takbeer (Allāhu-Akbar; Allāh is the Most Great) on seeing the crescent of the months of Ramadhān and Shawwāl] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him.
