“Are you sure it’s okay with you meu bem? ” Rafinha shouted from downstairs.
“You know that I still can cancel with the guys” He continued, I rolled my eyes playfully and made it successfully to the last step without falling. I had piled every Dvd we owned on my hands, to lazy to do a back and forth.
“Rafael, go and have some fun, you need it” I told him, deposing the stack of Dvd’s on top of the couch. Rafinha just came home this morning from his match in Rio de Janeiro. After a successful victory from the team and an outstanding goal from my lover, Neymar invited his teammates to celebrate it all in a club. I was a little upset that I couldn’t have him for myself for a moment, but I understand that he needs time to have fun.
“I am going to have plenty of fun without you anyway” I said smiling at him, gesturing towards the couch that had all the movies, food and fuzzy blankets needed for a nice and warm evening. He sighed, making his way towards me. He looked handsome tonight, not that my boyfriend was ugly the other days, far from that. Tonight he dressed to impress I guess, he had a denim shirt that hugged all his muscles perfectly. He had rolled the sleeves of the shirt till his elbows, giving that extra style.
“If I didn’t know better, I would say that you want to impress someone mister Alcántara” I told him, rearranging his collar. I looked up at him through my eyelashes, finding a teasing smile on his lips.
“Why would I want to impress when I’ve got all I need at home?” He said with that tint of seduction in his voice.
“You’re all I need (Y/N)” He whispered, taking possession of my hips, bringing me closer to him.
“Come on stop it Casanova before I forbid you from going out” I told him, getting his hands off my body.
“Have fun and don’t worry about me, they will take good care of me” I told him, realising after because of his frowning that I shouldn’t have of said that. I wasn’t going to stay alone again tonight so as Rafa was going out I decided to invite some of my friends. That included my childhood friend Louise but also her boyfriend and his brother, my ex. You can guess who’s presence is not a happy one for Rafinha.
“You are making it harder for me not to stay” He told me grudgingly.
“I trust you amor, it’s him that I do not trust, if I could ban him from seeing you I would. But it’s not fair, and I understand that” He added kissing my forehead. A horn sound interrupted us. His friends were here.
“See you later” I told him, getting him out of the door.
“Hey (Y/N), you look as smoking as ever” Shouted Neymar from his car, sending me a kiss. He always did this just to enervate Rafa, we were used to it now.
“Be safe” I whispered to Rafa, giving him a quick peck on the lips. He nodded, stealing another kiss from me before making his way to Neymar’s car. I closed the door behind me and organised everything for my friends’ visit. I had put every candy in a big bowl, the pizzas that I ordered were all on top of the coffee table and the lights dimmed down.
“You didn’t have to stay helping me River” I said to my ex, taking the carton boxes of his hands. The night ran through quite well, but like all events, at the end we have to clean. Louise and her boyfriend had gone home already, it was already one a.m and they both had work tomorrow. River stayed helping me even though I told him not to.
“It’s the least I could do babe” He said, giving me his shining smile. A smile that some years ago made my heart flutter, it’s incredible how now it does not affect me the slightest. All night he tried some not so subtle approaches and it kind of pissed me.
“You are staying alone tonight?” He asked, looking around the big flat that my boyfriend and I shared.
“No, Rafa went out so he’ll come a little later than usual” I explained to him. I don’t see why I did though. He shouldn’t ask that kind of question.
“You don’t deserve that type of relationship, you should be with a boy that is always with you not across the world when you need him the most” He said leaning on the counter, watching me washing the dishes.
“And I am supposing that boy is you?” I asked him raising a eyebrow.
“You see, a while ago I thought I needed a boy like that but now that I am dating a man I am way happier” I added cutting the conversation straightly.
“(Y/N)” Voiced my boyfriend.
“In the kitchen Rafa” I answered back, giving a last glare to River.
“How was your night gata?” Asked Rafinha before kissing me deeply.
“Oh hi River, how are you?” He added giving a nod to my ex. He knew he was here, but he liked to claim what’s his all the time.
“Good” I whispered smiling at him and his wondering hands that took possession of my lower back. Extreme lower back.
“I’ll go now, thank you for tonight (Y/N)” River said with no emotion whatsoever in his voice.
“Bye” I said with the same tone.
“Otário” Mumbled Rafinha, earning a tap on the shoulder from me.
“Rafael don’t be rude” I said to him trying to be stern but my laugh gave away my true feelings.
“One day I’ll beat him up I swear” He told me. He made his way to the fridge opening it and taking out all the ingredients needed for a sandwich.
“Violence is not the solution” I told him, bringing out the bread from the cupboard.
“If the person is persistent and touches what he shouldn’t, then a punch to the nose won’t do him badly” He explained, stacking up his sandwich. I smiled and shook my head before making my way to the stairs.
“Touching is too general of a word, its too easy for him to touch me Rafinha” I told him.
“What do you mean? Where did he touch you? (Y/N)? Don’t ignore me princesa, I will hunt him down and you know it! (Y/N)!” Rafinha shouted while I quickly ran upstairs hearing his steps behind me. I tried to escape from his grasp but it was only a matter of seconds before I was laying in my back on the bed with Rafa on top of me. He managed with one hand to hold both of my wrists, disabling me to do anything.
“You know what you deserve for giving me a heart attack like that?” He asked looking at my vulnerable state proudly.
“Don’t you dare Rafael” I told him, my eyes growing wider at his idea. But it was too late. Being the big meanie that he was he started peppering my stomach with sloppy kisses making me wriggle around. After all sorts of inhuman noises from me and occasional little bites from Rafa, he stopped his torture and posed his head on top of my chest getting comfortable.
“All mine” He cooed, brushing his head against my breasts, humming approvingly. I rolled my eyes at his antic, getting my little arms around his large frame. ‘All mine’ I thought too, closing my eyes.
A Secret Between Us
I woke up to see another beautiful day. It had been a Saturday morning free of worries. Last night was quite the party. I had invited a little over a 100 people to celebrate my birthday. Twenty second birthday to be exact. This meant a new chapter in my life had just opened. I propped myself on my elbows and looked over to the clock. It read 9 am. A bit early, but I was ready to start making breakfast. I got up from bed and headed into the bathroom. After I finished I walked out into the hall and towards the guest bedroom.
“Wake up Rafa.” I whispered.
“Shit, what time is it?” She groaned.
“Time to get up, isn’t your brother coming to pick you up?” I asked, leaning against the door frame.
“I told him to come a little later instead of coming so early, don’t know if he got my message since the connection was a bit off yesterday.” She threw the comforter to the side.
“Should I change?” I asked, admiring my silk robe and freshly shaved legs that looked model-like.
“You’re asking me if you should change?” She chortled, as she made the bed.
“I don’t know, it’s so awkward when he’s around.” I shrugged.
“It’s Neymar what do you expect.” She rolled her eyes playfully and headed into the bathroom, closing the door behind her.
“Start making breakfast I’m hungry!” Her voice muffled though the door.
“I’m already on it.” I yelled as I walked downstairs.
I walked into the living room, nothing but streamers and low-helium balloons sprinkled all around the floor. Popped champagne bottles were on the coffee table and I noticed a bit of frosting smeared on parts of the carpet. It was one hell of a party. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a skillet from the cabinetry. Then I grabbed two eggs and some veggies from the fridge. I quickly chopped the vegetables, whisked the eggs, and set the omelet mix aside. Then I put some fresh coffee grind into the coffee maker and made two mugs of creamy lattes.
“You done yet?” Rafa asked as she walked down the stairs.
“Wanna make the omelet?” I handed her the bowl and she started cooking.
I took out table wear and set it on the kitchen island. “Is someone at the door?”
“You’ll have to answer i’m in the middle of making the perfect omelet.” She hummed.
I walked over to the door and opened it with a bit of hesitation thinking it was Neymar. “Cleaning service.”
“Oh thank you for coming, the living room needs a bit of cleaning.” I sighed in relief remembering I had called then earlier to clean the mess from the party last night.
The lady rolled in her cleaning supplies and began doing her work. I walked into the kitchen and took a seat on the high stool. “Wow they smell good.”
“Let’s eat.” Rafa chuckled as she plated the omelets.
Rafa took a bite of her breakfast and a sip of her coffee. “You should go change.”
“It’s no big deal, and can’t I be comfortable in my own home.” I rolled my eyes.
“You said it not me.” She nudged my shoulder.
“Miss, there are so many stains.” The cleaning lady laughed.
“That’s the aftermath of a party.” I laughed.
It wasn’t long until the lady had finished cleaning. I threw my dishes into the washer and walked over to pay her. “Have a nice day.”
She walked out the door and left. I turned around and closed the door behind me until felt the knob being pulled back the opposite way.
“What the hell?” I turned around and saw Neymar standing in the frame.
“What? You don’t want to let me in?” He laughed opening the door further.
“I don’t know? Should I?” I mocked.
I let go of the door and allowed him to come inside, he closed the door behind him and walked slowly into the kitchen. I followed.
“I see you guys are still in your pajamas. Well y/n still is.” He smirked.
“It’s 9 am?” I rolled my eyes and tugged down on my robe.
I walked toward the staircase. “I’m gonna go change.”
“Why it’s only 9 am.” He teased.
“Don’t be a smart mouth in my house.” I scoffed.
I headed upstairs and quickly grabbed some sweats and an oversized t-shirt. I threw them on and hung my robe on the hook of my door. Then I headed back downstairs.
“Already leaving?” I asked. I noticed that Rafa had her purse around her shoulder and Neymar was beside her.
“It’s been fun, but I have a lot to do today. Happy birthday again babe.” Rafa hugged me.
“see you later.” I hugged her back and watched her head out.
“I’ll be in the car.” She yelled from outside.
“Yeah I’ll be there in a sec, just have to use the bathroom.” Neymar lied.
“Why’d you change?” He licked his lips and looked over his shoulder to make sure Rafa wasn’t around.
I took a seat in the sofa and answered. “Because it’s be weird.”
“She’s going to eventually find out sooner or later.” He sighed, leaning in.
“When it happens it’ll happen.” I kissed him goodbye.
He should’ve been celebrating with the rest of the boys but instead Rafinha found himself sat at the back of the plane, earphones plugged in as he stared solemnly out the window at the view of Barcelona beneath him.
It was an occasion to celebrate in every way - any rational human being with a brain would be doing so - yet he was sulking and it was evident to everyone around him. They’d long given up on trying to cheer him up, even Neymar of all people had stopped pestering him and had decided to just let him be.
Rafinha replayed the conversation from earlier on that morning in his head, groaning internally when he reflected on his reaction.
“Have you seen my phone anywhere? I can’t find my phone,” he muttered, shuffling around their bedroom looking for the device.
She giggled, holding it up.
“It’s right here, Rafa,” she replied. He sighed in relief and took it from her, tucking it into his pocket and grabbing his mini-suitcase.
“I’ll see you tonight then yeah? Love you,” he spoke, turning around to get out the door. He was already running late and Lucho would probably bench him as punishment. He was nervous enough about the game.
“Rafa - wait! I have to tell you something,” she spoke up from behind him, getting out of bed and following after him.
“What is it?” he asked impatiently, sighing when she tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear.
“Um - I wanted to tell you last night but I was with Anto the entire time and when I got home you were already asleep - and I really don’t want to keep going without you knowing-”
“Babe, just tell me, please. Quickly,” he cut her off.
“We’re - well, I’m pregnant, Rafa.” She finally said, biting her lip at the end.
As if on cue, a horn honked outside and Rafa was left dumbstruck both with the news and the sudden sound. He didn’t have a response to her, only staring at her as she patiently stood there with her lips pressed together, waiting.
“I - I have to go,” he stupidly answered, hating himself for the way her face fell and he turned away from her, walking out the door.
He cautiously pushed open the door to their home, knowing he wouldn’t be surprised if he found it empty. Wasn’t his reaction to the news of a baby what had driven her away from him the last time? Who was to say it wouldn’t do the same again? I almost let out a shout of relief when he found her sat in the lounge on the floor with a little Thiago Messi next to her, gibbering away in the best Spanish he could articulate at the mere age of 3 whilst surrounded by various plastic toys.
She looked up at Rafinha and when their eyes met, a sudden sense of calm overcame him. She wouldn’t leave him - how could he not understand that? How could he even doubt her?
“Feen-ya!” little Thiago announced, holding up his toy car.
“I didn’t know we had a little guest coming over,” Rafinha spoke with a smile, unsure as to exactly what his girlfriend’s sentiments were towards him.
“They had to keep Anto and Mateo overnight, so I offered to look after Thiago for the night,” she replied.
She didn’t sound angry - but she didn’t sound overly delighted either. That was a good sign, right?
Assuring himself that it was, Rafinha proceeded to get showered and ready for a bed he hoped he wouldn’t be kicked out of. He wondered if she’d told Pep or his brother yet. Well, considering the only message he had from Thiago in his inbox was one congratulating him and the Barca boys on the win over Atletico, she probably hadn’t confided in him just yet. But what if she’d told Pep? What if the reason she was so calm was because she and Pep had this whole plan to have him killed in his sleep?
Jesus, Rafael, calm down, he thought to himself, shaking his head.
When he was finished worrying himself to death he made his way out of their room to look for her, finding her in the guestroom.
He stood in the doorway, feeling his heart melt for her and expand with nothing but love for her as he watched her rock Thiago in her arms as she hummed to him. He shared the little boy’s fascination for her - his feelings mirroring the way Thiago held the long strands of her hair in his fingers and the way his eyes remained fixated on her.
There was something about her that had hit him the moment he’d seen her all those years ago when they’d been younger. It was the same thing that had kept him chasing after her, never ceasing his calls and messages to her even when he was met with silence from her end.
And it was the reason for the promise he’d made to her at his brother’s wedding when he’d begged her to give them a chance - he did want to start a family with her, he did want her by his side as he grew old - so why the hell was he being such an ass to a girl who was clearly made for him?
He straightened up once she set a sleeping Thiago down and tucked him in, turning around to find him stood in the doorway. She silently walked over to him and he stepped aside as she pulled the door halfway shut.
The silence between them as they looked at each other lasted 4 heart beats before Rafinha let out a defeated breath, enclosing her in his arms and burying his face into the side of her neck, crushing her against him. She seemed to relax under his touch, her fingers finding the back of his head and gently running them through the short strands of his hair.
“I’m sorry about how I reacted,” Rafinha spoke, muffled against the side of her neck.
“I’m sorry I threw that at you so suddenly. I should’ve waited until you got back,” she replied in a timid voice.
Rafinha pulled back to look at her, taking hold of her face in his hands.
“Don’t be - I know that after what happened last time…I don’t exactly have the best track record for when it comes to things like this. And I shouldn’t have reacted like that. It’s far from how I actually feel, I promise you.” He reassured her. “Seeing you with Thiago…it put it all in place for me. I can’t wait for our baby, amor. You’re going to be such a good mom.”
She blinked away the tears in her eyes, her face breaking out into a huge grin.
“Rafa…we’re having a baby,” she whispered in disbelief.
Rafinha laughed, bringing her face to his.
“We’re having a baby,” he spoke against her lips.
And there was nothing that could’ve made him happier.
