“No way I would be a journalist. You guys have tried to kill Roger often. But he’s always come back and proved you wrong. So one thing I would not do is make the mistake of saying Roger is dead.“ - Rafael Nadal
"I’ve done and lived the most with him. From five-set matches on court, to promoting a tournament in Qatar, to doing foundation work together. And I’ve gone to dinners with him. I know his family the best, as well. I know his mum, dad and sister. Yeah, our bond goes further back than the one I have with Novak or Andy. And for that reason I feel closest and most connected to Rafa.” - Roger Federer
I probably have to pick Rafa [as my toughest opponent]. The way he played or plays against me, it’s always been extremely difficult for me. Plus I played way too many clay court matches against him, that kind of scarred me against him. He beat me [chuckling] a lot of times in those finals, time and time again, and he just showed me what he could do. That’s why I hope for him that he can come back extremely strong again because I think the world needs Rafa and his game. I think his game is extraordinary, his fighting spirit and his proffesionalism that he brings to the game. I reall enjoy watching him and it’s been tough against him. I feel like every match I’ve won against him, almost counts double for me.
“I feel healthy and that’s the most important thing. I feel that my knees are not suffering now and hopefully it will keep going like this… I believe that I can compete for important things in the next three years.” – RAFA NADAL
