Andrew Scott being so wonderful.. – {WARNING} Beautifully hot speech ahead

Well I just died.

There’s another chance to listen to Orpheus & Eurydice: His Story, starring Nico Mirallegro and Emily Taaffe, as it’s back on BBC Radio iPlayer - for 4 weeks only!

“Grief-stricken, the young singer Orfeo tries to find his way to his dead wife Eurydice. His path is the way of dreams, fractured memories - a journey into the Underworld to bring back his love from the silence. But is love stronger than death if everything can be destroyed by a backward glance?

With music composed by PJ Harvey

Directed by Nadia Molinari

Orpheus and Eurydice by Linda Marshall Griffiths was first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in September 2015 and won the Grand Prix Marulic in 2016.”

There’s also Orpheus Underground, a Neil Gaiman documentary which explores the myth of Orpheus.

Hello! You wrote a post, which I reblogged, listing reasons to read Good Omens. I went out and bought the book and I would really want to thank you, because I loved it! I have only just finished it and I have heard there is a radio recording (maybe?) so if you could list me a few Good Omens related things to investigate, I would be hugely grateful. No pressure though. Thank you so much!

Hello my dear!  I’m so glad you liked it! :D  My work here is done!   Here are some things:

-BBC radio 4′s audio drama adaptation.  It was available to listen to for free when it first came out, but I’m not sure it is anymore.  I would definitely say that buying the CDs is worth it since they have quality bonus content.  Also, transcripts for the audio drama are available here.

-There is supposed to be a TV miniseries soon.  There’s been a lot of fakeouts on this, but this time it looks real.

-Here’s Neil Gaiman’s version of what Aziraphale and Crowley’s New Year’s resolutions would be.

-Oh, also after the book Aziraphale and Crowley got a cottage together in South Downs, apparently??

-Good Omens comprehensive reference guide (Ie I Don’t Get That Pop Culture Joke Can You Explain It)

-Good Omens theological reference guide (Ie I Never Learned That In Bible Class What Are They Talking About)

That’s about it as far as canon stuff goes, I’m afraid.  If you’re into fandom stuff, here are some things that might interest you:

-My list of recommended Good Omens blogs

-Fanfic recs from this corner of tumblr

-TV tropes fanfic recs

-Good Omens fandom starter kit

-Here’s another starter kit! (some updates)

-Good Omens Holiday Exchange, a yearly event where fanfic writers and fan artists collaborate to make gifts for each other, which everyone is welcome to enjoy.  Going on right now, actually!!

The world is currently full of all sorts of horrible things, and while it’s important that you be well-informed global citizens, sometimes you just have to call time and refuel.  For that I highly recommend John Finnemore’s Double Acts, five episodes of which are currently available – that’s two and a half hours! – and three of those are particular favourites of mine, but I leave you to guess which ones.

Here is the wide shot of the above, which will be slightly less surreal to you once you’ve listened to them, but which, I hope, will be no less funny:

Psst … @almaviva90@mari-kilkenni@clarasteam …

For those folk who expressed an interest in BBC Radio 4’s 2007 Classic Serial adaptation of E. M. Forster’s Maurice (unrepeated since, and not on i-Player), the Bertie Faerie has worked some practical magic. Message for details. :)

Radio 4’s Maurice starred Alex Wyndham as Maurice Hall, Bertie Carvel as Clive Durham, and Joseph Kloska as Alec Scudder. My edit above is entirely unofficial and nothing to do with the BBC. (Any original press-kit pics/info seem to have vanished into the mists of the noughties.)

Mansfield Park is a 10-part radio dramatization of the Jane Austen novel of the same name aired in 2003 starring David Tennant and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Of course, if you really want to learn a character, you animate him … I don’t plan to do this with everyone, but I needed to do a demo for my animation class (hi class!) so why not?

Audio from the brilliant radio play that got me into this mess; Titus is played by Mark Meadows, who somewhat confusingly also played Scott in a later radio thing …

The Worst Journey in the World
In the austerely beautiful icescapes of Antarctica, Apsley Cherry-Garrard is on the adventure of a lifetime. But things are about to go disastrously wrong.

After seven years, BBC Radio is rerunning the drama that got me hooked on the Scott Expedition.  I can’t put into words how much it means to me, though I can say without a hint of exaggeration that it changed my life.

EVERYBODY LISTEN! JOIN THE POLAR PARTY!

You’ll be introduced to some of the most wonderful people you’ll ever meet, in an amazing story that you’ll think has to have had major dramatic licence taken, but it didn’t!*

And as it’s radio you can listen while doing boring responsible grownup things, so you don’t even have to feel guilty about it.

(I first heard it while sewing my Halloween costume, so you are not obligated to be doing something boring or grownup or responsible.)

Need to escape the family for a bit on Thanksgiving weekend?  Want to put Black Friday in perspective?  To take the edge off those early nights? To make you swear you will never again complain about the cold?

*There are small changes to timeline and locations that help streamline it into two hours, but the big stuff, and the stuff you can’t believe actually happened, actually happened.

LISTEN TO IT HERE!

BBC - Radio 4 to make first ever dramatisation of Good Omens - Media centre

It’s the end of the world - just not quite how we might be expecting it - but then this is Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s version of Armageddon.

Yeeeessss Dirk Maggs is finally doing a Radio Pratchett! I’ve been hoping for this day since his Douglas Adams adaptations played against the radio Discworlds.  And what a cast! With this and the Cabin Pressure finale it’s going to be a gooood Christmas.

A new, upcoming BBC Radio 4 drama with Blake
