Ellie Goulding at 102.7 KIIS FM: Talks about her upcoming third album
“This album, it’s stuff from the past couple of years — and a lot of stuff has gone down in the past couple of years, so with that in mind, it’s actually turned out to be quite a positive, uplifting kind of vibe so far. I always like to make music that is hopeful. And even in my songs, I never like to leave it on like a, ‘What happened with that situation?’ I always like to give both sides of stuff.”

Penelope Wilton: How do you spend your Sundays?

Early alarm or lazy lie-in?
Early alarm. I’m good at getting up. I go walking about five miles every morning. It gives you time to yourself. You can sort out your day, clear your mind.

Fresh as a daisy or hungover?
I don’t drink very much nowadays, maybe a glass of white wine at the weekends.

Muesli or fry up?
I have fruit and things like that. I must sound very boring.

Roast dinner at home or pub lunch?
I cook. I do different things, chicken, roast lamb, roast potatoes, sometimes roast pork with crackling.

Sunday best or casuals?
Not quite tracksuits, but I stay casual – maybe jeans, laid-back wear.

What can’t you get through the weekend without?
My radio, I couldn’t get through any day without my radio. Classic FM, Radio 3 and Radio 4 Extra are my stations.

How will you spend the rest of the summer?
I will be taking the rest of summer off to spend time with the family.
