radiance primer

uninterestingproductions  asked:

I want to give my makeup a dewy finish, but my skin is incredibly dry, how do I do it?

When you’ve got dry skin the first thing you usually want to do is restore radiance and give it that beautiful, glossy finish. Dewy skin looks great, but many brands get it wrong with their dewy skin formulas making skin look more like a shiny disco ball than gorgeous and healthy. I’m known for having super glowy skin in my photos and tutorials!

Prep Your Skin Well

Skin prep is the most important thing in makeup, if your skin doesn’t look great then neither will your makeup. First up prep your skin by cleansing gently (I like to use a micellar water) after cleansing apply a good moisturiser, you want something that provides a lot of hydration, but doesn’t feel super heavy on the skin. I love: Trilogy Very Gentle Moisturising Cream and Crop Natural Hydrating Daily Facial Moisturiser. A primer can also be of huge benefit to you if you are after a dewy finish, try something with light reflecting particles like the Laura Mercier Radiance Foundation Primer. I’ve also created a tutorial showing you how to properly prep your skin for makeup.

Use the Right Foundation

If you want dewy skin, you want to be using the right foundation. Stay clear of anything that is mattifying or super full coverage and instead opt for something dewy and light. I recommend: Stila Aqua Glow Serum Foundation, Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation.

Use a Lot of Creams

If you are using a lot of powders variations of products such as highlighter, bronzer, contour and blush  this could be an issue. If you want your skin to look dewy and glowy you want to be skipping the powder and opting for cream and liquid formulas wherever you can. I swear by the Kevyn Aucoin Creamy Glow Formula, it blends beautifully over foundation and is available in a wide range of blushes, contour and highlight shades.

You're really pretty. What's you're skincare/makeup routine? I love to know what products ppl use!!!!

what a great ask! i can’t believe you actually care, but i’m going to tell you everything now! i’m gonna do links and everything that’s how into this i am.

right so, skin care routine is simple, i only use two products to cleanse and moisturise twice a day

liz earl cleanse & polish hot cloth cleanser

bee good plump & firm moisturiser

everyday make up (if i’m leaving the house, like. otherwise i don’t wear anything):

primer - laura mercier radiance primer

base - nars sheer glow foundation in siberia mixed with nars illuminator in copacabana and then nars concealer in chantilly for dark circles, spots etc… all blended with a beauty blender because they are magic!

cheeks - nars blush in orgasm, sometimes i’ll use a random bronzer to contour a bit it depends on my mood

highlight - either some more of the nars illuminator or nars highlight powder in albatross depending on how sparkly i want to be

mascara - benefit roller lash

lips - all sorts really, but i favour a matte liquid lipstick and lipcote to make it stick

if i’m going out i might also slap on some eyeshadow and gel liner. possibly false lashes if i’m feeling super fancy but i’m not picky about what i actually use

now everyone else do theirs, this was so much fun!!

Makeup Tips to Hide Being Sick

We’ve all had those days… A friend’s birthday, a special occasion, a party, work, an important meeting. Sometimes these are things that you simply cannot afford to miss, despite the fact you’ve just come done with a tummy ache, a cold or a headache or simply aren’t in the mood to go out but the world still moves around and sometimes you just have to pull yourself together, get dressed, put on some makeup and conquer the day. Whilst the last thing you probably feel like doing when you’re sick is putting on makeup, it can make a lot of difference to how your feeling and your state of mind.

First and foremost your number one concern should be your skin. When you’re sick it’s easy to forgo your skincare routine and either just wash it or do nothing at all. Instead, try and stick to your regular routine and consider adding an oil or hydrating serum under your moisturiser. When your immune system is down it can take a nasty toll on your skin - and don’t you dare even think about forgetting lip balm!

How to Choose a Face Primer

Face primers are fantastic, and even though I don’t wear one every time I do my makeup , if I need my makeup to look last and look flawless all day I’ll use one. Don’t be fooled into thinking they are just another product to buy so brands can get more money, they are much more than that.

In short, primers are amazing products that you apply after you’ve cleansed and moisturised your skin, but before you apply any coverage products like foundation or concealer. Majority of primers are designed to help make your makeup last a lot longer and smooth over the surface of the skin so your makeup applies evenly.

If the only thing that’s endless about your summer are your days at the office under fluorescent lights, you and bronzer are probably already best friends. But even without a grueling schedule or aversion to the sun, this glow-getter can illuminate your world in unexpected ways. Below are seven secrets that’ll make you a believer faster than you can say, “Look, Ma, no tan lines.” MELISSA LANE

LOSE FIVE POUNDS IN TEN SECONDS
TIP: Forget the juice cleanse. Contour your face with bronzer along the hollows of your cheekbones, temples, and jawline, and you’ll look like you doubled your gym routine without lifting a finger.
TRY: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil

MAKE YOUR EYES POP
TIP: Tired? Dab bronzer on your lids for a brightening pop of color.
TRY: Urban Decay Bronzing BB Cream.

SKIP THE FOUNDATION
TIP: Sometimes you’re just not feeling full-face coverage. In these cases, mix a small amount of cream bronzer into your moisturizer for a smooth complexion—and a subtle glow.
TRY: BECCA Bronzing Skin Perfector.

ENHANCE YOUR CLEAVAGE
TIP: Your brassiere doesn’t have to do all the work. Dust bronzer along your cleavage, blending upwards towards your décolleté to slyly deepen the divide.
TRY: Diorskin Nude Tan Nude Glow Sun Powder.

NUDIFY YOUR LIPS
TIP: You’ll want to kiss and tell this beauty tip. Customize a nude shade for your pucker by blending a small amount of bronzer with a pink or berry gloss.
TRY: NARS Multiples Regular or Matte.

EXTEND YOUR TAN
TIP: Be a golden goddess from head to toe. Mix your body lotion with bronzer for an instant, all-over glow.
TRY: Laura Mercier Radiance Bronzer Primer.

TRANSITION BETWEEN SEASONS
TIP: Too soon for your summer complexion product, but getting late in the game for your winter shade? Try mixing it with a touch of bronzer. This will allow you to calibrate things until you are ready to make the jump to your my-office-is-a-beach-towel shade.
TRY: Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder.
