The Bletchley Circle, if you haven’t already watched it (I’m a bit late on this train), is incredible. So many of my narrative kinks hit time and again. It’s a recently done BBC 3-part miniseries about female code-breakers who use their skills to track down a serial killer. It features women being skilled, competent, passing the Bechdel test, having intense friendships, having lives beyond traditionally female roles, and beautiful acting from a few of my period-piece favorites, Anna Maxwell Martin (Bleak House) and Rachael Sterling (Tipping the Velvet) who is not only aging in reverse but sporting an even lower voice than before.
