quick-dry-top-coat

Your nails... !!!!!! How?? *0* So purdy. :D

Hey, thanks! It’s pretty easy. I first painted all my nails with white polish, then used a quick drying top coat. Once they were dry, I used a couple strips of scotch tape to make a triangle stencil on every other nail. To do the gradient, I cut a makeup sponge to the length of my nail and painted stripes on it in four colors—coral red, yellow, light green, and purple. I dabbed on the gradient in two thin coats, reapplying the polish each time. I removed the scotch tape on the triangle nails as soon as I finished the second coat of gradient. (Ideally, I would have paid more attention to making the gradient straight and even, instead of watching Netflix while doing a half-ass job of it :P ) You could use a liquid latex first to make the gradient cleanup easier, but I don’t have any; I just scrubbed up with an orange stick wrapped with some cotton dipped in polish remover. Then I finished with top coat and stuck on the charms with nail glue.

happy birthday suzuyas i love you you're fabulous

4:16 p.m.

Touka decides to opt for a pale pink nail polish that day. It’s gloomy, it’s raining, and she doesn’t normally go for such a bright color (she really doesn’t opt for nail polish in general) but she decides to go for pale pink coat.

The smell instantly fills her room the moment she twists off the cap. She wishes she’d opened the window before starting but it’s too late now; Touka knows better than to try to do anything when her nails are glistening and wet. She just gives a sigh and continues to sweep the brush over her nails with the utmost concentration, gives a click of the tongue when small specks get on her finger.

“Stupid…”

“Tooouka-chan! What’s this? You’re actually putting on nail polish? The one I gave you?!”

Rolling her eyes at Yoriko’s sudden excitement, Touka nonetheless doesn’t protest as her roommate pulls up a chair to sit next to her. Her fingers are taken by Yoriko’s and cool breaths hasten the drying; Touka sits and waits patiently while Yoriko slowly and expertly paints her nails, has the brush fanning out over the curve of her finger professionally.

Touka doesn’t like painting her nails, but since Yoriko gave her a bottle for her birthday, she might as well use it, if only to make Yoriko happy. Truthfully, she was beginning to get impatient, watching as Yoriko begins the third coat (honestly, did she need that many coats?) but stays quiet, lets she do as she wants. For all of the nights that Yoriko had to deal with Touka staying up, stressing out, her temper getting the better of her and ranting, the least she can do is allow Yoriko to do her nails.

“Hey, Yoriko, ready?”

Nagachika Hideyoshi shows up at the door and Touka gives him a passing glance. He’s not dating Yoriko and Yoriko insists they’re just friends, but she sees the way Yoriko blushes. She asks Hide about it once, straight and blunt as always, and he just stare at her, echoes they’re just friends.

Touka has plans for Hide if he hurts Yoriko.

“Yeah, just give me a moment!” Yoriko chirps and Touka notes that Yoriko exemplifies how good a friend she is by not budging or looking up from doing her nails even when her possible-maybe crush is standing at the door.

“Sure thing!” Hide grins, leans against the frame with his arms crossed. “Oh, my roommate’s got your history textbook. I told him to come here though, so you can get it back in time for the test tomorrow.”

“Ah, that sounds good! Thanks!”

Hanyaan's Cosplay Makeup Kit List

One of my favorite things in cosplay is makeup. Makeup can really help make or break your costume, and I think that everybody who cosplays should wear some, regardless of gender. (Unless you’re under a mask, but that’s a different story.) This is a guide to what’s in my personal kit. Maybe some of this might work for you and maybe some of it wouldn’t, but this is the stuff I don’t want to be without.

Black and Silver Wavy Tips

After cleaning filing and shaping the nail and applying a base coat:

  1. use the brush from the bottle of silver polish to paint the top half of the nail making the edge of the silver look like 2 waves/mountains/humps
  2. use a very small striping brush and some black polish to make really uneven, lumpy lines outlining the edge of silver area and also filling it in with stripes. Continue to mimic the shape of the original waves with each stripe as you go toward the tip of the nail.
  3. apply two thin coats of quick dry top coat (I always apply two coats of top coat when I have done a negative space look because it helps the nail feel smoother and more cohesive when you physically touch it)

This at the Dolllar Tree store?? What kind of trickery is this??!?!? Don’t mind if I do, lol… I’ll get to the bottom of this, lol

*Edit* nice try Dollar Store wanna be Seche Vite… U sir, are no Seche Vite… I shall be contacting Seche Vite and alert them of ur deceptive ways 😡 *Edit 2* ugh, this stuff is a way no go! It looks like dried gel, like if u spilled jello & it dried… No shine… Seriously??

Criss-Cross Applesauce

I mistakenly thought that this would be a really quick, simple design.
It was not.
All the little lines took so long; by the end of it my roommate was questioning my sanity. On the bright side, it looks pretty cool!

I friggin’ love robots, so I had to go for that, but which bots? There are so many great robots! I finally went with everyone’s favorite musicbots, Daft Punk! Each nail is inspired by a different helmet or outfit. Mostly based on this picture:

External image

Base color of all nails is Sinful Colors Black on Black over Revlon Gel Smooth basecoat. All nails except pinkies have Revlon Quick Dry top coat.

Thumbnails are the Random Access Memories helmets. Left is Maybelline Color Show Pedal to the Metal, right is Covergirl Outlast Glosstinis Seared Bronze.

Index fingers are the Tron Legacy helmets. Both nails have Sally Hansen Triple Shine Sparks Fly (which I promise is blue and silver in the right light).

Middle fingers are the Alive 2007 helmets. Both nails have a stripe of Maybelline Color Show Crushed Clementine done with a small paintbrush.

Ring fingers are the rainbow/Daft Punk helmets. Both nails have Nicole by OPI Be Awesome.

Pinkies represent their suits and leather coats, and just have NYC Matte me Crazy top coat.

YAY ROBOTS.

Out of the Blue - Chapter 13

He’s never seen Beckett spend so much time in her pajamas.

Overall, she made the right choice and they both know it, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t still reeling from the impulsive way she told the task force to shove it. That doesn’t mean she hasn’t spent the last two weeks mulling over her decision and her professional future.

It also doesn’t help that she’s on edge, uncomfortable, hasn’t seen her feet in at least three weeks other than to stretch them out in front of her, and her doctor has requested she stay close since she’s officially in the home stretch of her pregnancy. Less than three weeks to go. He just hopes this baby has Kate’s sense of timing, and not his love of procrastination; neither of them want her to go past her due date.

To mitigate the cabin fever, they’re planning to head to the Hamptons for a few days. It’s just far enough away that they’ll feel like they’re taking a break, but close enough that Kate won’t be too uncomfortable sitting in the car and the doctor is still nearby.

The fresh air will help, he’s sure.

“You’re sure you don’t mind?”

“Don’t mind what?” he asks, lifting his eyes from his painting. He’s promised her a salon-quality pedicure, complete with lotion and a massage that (hopefully) won’t stimulate the wrong pressure point and send her into labor early. That’s a job he takes seriously.

Beckett’s toes curl against his palm. Not enough to upset his artwork, but enough to make him glower. Her lips curl a little bit, clearly amused at his protectiveness.

She exhales, leaning her cheek against the back of the couch. “Going back to DC and grabbing more stuff, Castle. The thing we talked about last night.”

Right. The thing she woke him at two o'clock this morning and asked him to take care of soon. Most of the items on her list are things she’d been intending to bring with her before McCord dragged her along for the Reynolds case. The rest are things she’s decided they need from the nursery and their room. The homey touches they’d added to the house in DC.

Staying in New York for the duration of her maternity leave had always been the plan. Now they have the freedom to stay wherever they want for however long they want. Another perk of being rich, he’d murmured into her hair last night. She just wants some more of their stuff while they decide where they’re going to go and what they’re going to do.

“Uh huh,” he agrees absently. “Don’t squirm, you’re going to mess me up.”

“Sorry to upset your work, mister artist.”

“I’ll have you know, Beckett, that I take my pedicure prowess very seriously.”

“Uh huh, I can tell.”

Lifting her foot, he kisses one lavender and sage scented arch. The move earns him a peal of laughter and he can’t help but do it again.

Castle!” she giggles. “That tickles. Stop, stop, stop. Or I’ll have to go to the bathroom and that’ll screw up all your hard work.”

She has a point there. Still, it’s nice to hear her laugh instead of her silent worrying over what’s next for them.

Lowering her foot to his leg, he fixes the cotton between her toes. Time for the second coat.

“Better?”

“Much,” she hums. “But you didn’t answer me.”

The brush makes a slow swipe around her big toenail. “About DC?”

“Mhmm.”

“I’ll drive down tomorrow morning,” he promises, using his thumbnail to make a clean line at the tip of her nail. “I would fly, but I think I’ll be bringing back a little too much to handle, even with my frequent flyer privileges.”

“Thank you. I’ll feed you dinner for making that long drive twice in one day.”

Dipping his head, he kisses her knee. “Best wife-to-be ever.”

Kate mhmms again, brushing the tips of her fingers through his hair before he sits up to continue his pedicure masterpiece.

“Should we get married?” she asks a few moments after he finishes his toenail design and puts the quick-drying top coat on her nails.
