happy birthday suzuyas i love you you're fabulous
Touka decides to opt for a pale pink nail polish that day. It’s gloomy, it’s raining, and she doesn’t normally go for such a bright color (she really doesn’t opt for nail polish in general) but she decides to go for pale pink coat.
The smell instantly fills her room the moment she twists off the cap. She wishes she’d opened the window before starting but it’s too late now; Touka knows better than to try to do anything when her nails are glistening and wet. She just gives a sigh and continues to sweep the brush over her nails with the utmost concentration, gives a click of the tongue when small specks get on her finger.
“Tooouka-chan! What’s this? You’re actually putting on nail polish? The one I gave you?!”
Rolling her eyes at Yoriko’s sudden excitement, Touka nonetheless doesn’t protest as her roommate pulls up a chair to sit next to her. Her fingers are taken by Yoriko’s and cool breaths hasten the drying; Touka sits and waits patiently while Yoriko slowly and expertly paints her nails, has the brush fanning out over the curve of her finger professionally.
Touka doesn’t like painting her nails, but since Yoriko gave her a bottle for her birthday, she might as well use it, if only to make Yoriko happy. Truthfully, she was beginning to get impatient, watching as Yoriko begins the third coat (honestly, did she need that many coats?) but stays quiet, lets she do as she wants. For all of the nights that Yoriko had to deal with Touka staying up, stressing out, her temper getting the better of her and ranting, the least she can do is allow Yoriko to do her nails.
“Hey, Yoriko, ready?”
Nagachika Hideyoshi shows up at the door and Touka gives him a passing glance. He’s not dating Yoriko and Yoriko insists they’re just friends, but she sees the way Yoriko blushes. She asks Hide about it once, straight and blunt as always, and he just stare at her, echoes they’re just friends.
Touka has plans for Hide if he hurts Yoriko.
“Yeah, just give me a moment!” Yoriko chirps and Touka notes that Yoriko exemplifies how good a friend she is by not budging or looking up from doing her nails even when her possible-maybe crush is standing at the door.
“Sure thing!” Hide grins, leans against the frame with his arms crossed. “Oh, my roommate’s got your history textbook. I told him to come here though, so you can get it back in time for the test tomorrow.”
“Ah, that sounds good! Thanks!”
