Lesbian labels and Identities

Femme: A feminine lesbian.

Butch: A masculine lesbian.

Pumps: Another word for femme

Pants: Another word for butch

futch: a lesbian who has feminine looks but masculine dress and/or style. femme + butch = futch

Stud: a dominant lesbian, usually butch.

Stem: A stem is a lesbian who identifies somewhere between “stud” and “femme.”

Chapstick lesbian: A tomboy lesbian. Doesn’t quite fit the stud or femme description. Usually in between the two extremes. A lesbian who wears Chapstick rather than lipstick.

Lipstick lesbian: A lipstick lesbian is a woman who loves other women, but also loves her clothes and makeup and shoes. She tends to dress on the femmy side

Lipstick Mafia: Group of (generally Femme) lesbians who either 1) work to recruit new lesbians into the lesbian community or 2) form a close-knit protective circle around members of their group of friends. Move over, Sopranos! 

Squid: a lesbian covered in tattoos who emulates the tattoo/alternative style (the hipster of lesbians)

Bambi sexual: lesbian slang from 1989 book, Physical interaction centred more about touching, kissing, and caressing than around genital sexuality.  (x)

Kiki: 1940s slang for a lesbian comfortable with either a passive or aggressive partner.

*Depending on who you’re talking to these terms can have slightly different differentiations or mean slightly different things (p.s. pls add on terms you know!)

Poussey Washington: Had hard life, poc, still remained amazing and kind, life started getting better, murdered.

Glenn Rhee: Had hard life, poc, still remained amazing and kind, life started getting better, murdered.

Wes Gibbons: Had hard life, poc, still remained amazing and kind, life started getting better, murdered.
