To make my opinions known
as if they carry any weight, I do not care about the specific nature of Queen Moon and Toffee’s relationship. A budding romance gone sour, a broken friendship, the lizard lawyer as the son of Queen Eclipsa, or something even the fandom has yet to cook up. What matters to me is the nature of how their apparent arch-rivalry began. Let me paint the scene: Toffee has taken the time to get close to Moon, and finally takes a chance to express his hopes of the Royal family making amends to the Monster races and making them citizens equal to Mewmans. But the Princess is too proud to pay heed to a “lesser being” speaking ill of her people. Toffee presses the issue, and would then drop the hypothetical bomb of revealing himself as a member of the Butterfly clan via Eclipsa, until Moon snaps and blasts her friend with magic. Cue broken hearts and Battle of the Immortal Monster and Moon the Undaunted.
Toffee chose diplomacy, but Moon refused. Moon burned the bridge. Now Toffee’s traded dreams of peace for scheming black revenge, and Moon’s spent years trying to make up for her moment of weakness without knowing the best coarse to take.
