I finally found the memory card with the one field recording I managed to make in Greenland. This is the sound of Greenland for me, as in a small town, there is always somewhere that the dogs are being fed and you can hear the yelping carrying on the wind. In the first minute of this clip you can hear Nivé chopping frozen fish guts with an axe, and later the excitement moving through the pack as she pushes the wheelbarrow through the yard distributing the supper. The dog’s voices are remarkably high pitched for the size of the animal, which mixes well with the chains rattling as they strain to get closer to the food. Close your eyes and listen to the cold. Big thanks to Nivé and Pilo for sharing their dogs with us.
