pygmy cuttlefish

Have octopus/cephalopod questions? OF COURSE YOU DO. Three hearts, blue blood, ring-shaped brains—they’re “like something from a Harryhausen movie & secretly plotting to take over the world.” On October 12 at 10 a.m. PST/1 p.m. EST, Rich Ross (senior biologist at the California Academy of Sciences’ Steinhart Aquarium) will be taking your Qs about octopus, cuttlefish, pygmy seahorses (not cephalopods, but too cute to leave out), and everything in between.

Don’t be a sucker (sorry/not-sorry)—ask your questions here! 🐙

I’ve got three test tube scenes finished and ready to go up in the Beastlies shop.  I’ll be putting them up for sale just a little later today.

This glass beaker contains five specimens of the rare pygmy rosebud cuttlefish.  We’ve added a segment of fan coral to make them feel more at home.

Test tube measures 1.5" dia. x 8"H, and is ready to hang on a nail or hook.
