proof of her love

Gal improvising that line about Cleo’s Treatises on Pleasure and how men aren’t necessary for pleasure is just further proof that she 100% understands her character and I love her for it. Also that was such a specific improv line. She definitely gave it some thought lol.

“But, I don’t understand! Why do you have to go?!” You shout to Daryl as he shoves a few shirts into a bag and searches his eyes around the room, zipping up the bag and throwing it over his shoulder.

He locked eyes with yours and his eyes dropped in sadness a moment before facing you again.

“I have to go, Y/N. They’re my friends… The only thing left I got in this world, besides you.” He gestured to you, his breath heavy as his heart pounded with nervous energy. He didn’t want to go, he wanted like hell to stay with you and spend his life wrapped in your kisses, but he owed Rick and everyone else so much more than that.

“I’ll come with you!” You say quickly as your stomach did flips at the thought of Daryl leaving you.

Daryl smiled softly at you at the thought, quickly shaking his head and his eyes turning sad again.

“Nah. I don’t want you out there.” He nodded outside the window, toward freedom.

You grit your teeth and glare at him, as he pulls a Negan and presupposes you can’t do whatever the fuck you want. You fold your arms and stare at him defiantly.

“Besides, I don’t know how Rick and everyone is gonna take you…” He says, staring at you biting his lip, hating having this conversation.

“What is that supposed to mean?” You snap angrily, shaking your body sassily about, with your arms still folding tightly around you.

Daryl’s eyes fall to the floor, staring harshly at it, “ You know, Y/N…” He says softly, not wanting to look you in the eye.

a thought on Bellarke

Sometimes I think about how soft Bellamy and Clarke will never get to be. Their softness, their innocence, their youth has been stolen from, in an even crueler way than it was from the rest of delinquents. In that way where their edges had to be hardened for them to lead, in the way where the weight of responsibility presses down on you until you’re as hard and sharp as a diamond.

In another world, Clarke would have allowed herself compassion- she would have cared for people as a doctor, brought beauty into the world as a artist. Clarke was always destined to make the hard calls, yes; but they would have been about rationing medicine or when to operate or an intense vote on the council on the ark. She wouldn’t have to cut her own heart out of the equation to cut out someone else’s. The blood on her latex-clad hands wouldn’t seep into her soul. She would have been free to love and be loved in return and she would have two parents and a whole unbroken heart.

Bellamy’s life never would have been easy, but there would have been a way, one day, for him to have a life where his love for people could always be rewarded; a positive, healthy, giving kind of love and devotion that doesn’t twist in his gut, that doesn’t inevitably turn into rage or revenge. He could have led a unit of the guard, and formed his own found family and given inspirational speeches without also knowing the scalding heat of a machine gun pumping bullets into bodies. He could have taught a classroom of boisterous children, without a mountain full of dead ones awaiting him in nightmares. His rash choices would lead to mouthing off to a councilman or getting in a fight with a rude boy at school, not bear the consequences of dozens of lives. In another world, Bellamy could hug and touch and love and be held and loved in return- in another world his vulnerability wouldn’t have to be rationed, or hidden, or protected and locked away.

And that’s the thing that makes Bellarke both devastating and beautiful to me. They didn’t have a choice in the hand they were dealt, and it’s not an easy life, and it’s not a fair life. They have both been broken down as people: their worst traits drawn out, their best tested to the limits of endurance. As individuals, they feel the weight - the loss - of what they were, of what they could have been. And they didn’t have a choice. But. But at least, in this life, they will never be alone. In this life, they can chose to be together. And, together, they can be whole.

Together they find those shades of softness they thought had been wrung out of them; together they bare vulnerabilities in defiance of their circumstances, a quiet show of resistance to world that has turned them into monsters. They offer understanding unconditionally, they offer forgiveness for the unforgivable. They make apologies on behalf of the world to each other. They trade the will to live, to love, to press onward between them, taking turns carrying each other to the finish line. If you’re on that list I’m on that list.

And they didn’t just fall from the sky into each other’s hearts - their love, their trust, their bond - is earned. They fell in love with each other’s ideals before they even liked each other; as that one article said - in the most idealistic way possible.

Bellamy fell in love with the hope and idealism Clarke had about humanity; he wanted to be what she saw in him, wanted to live in the world as she imagined it. He fell in love with a girl who through sheer force of will could bend the world to how she wanted it. He fell in love with her belief that there was a better way, that humanity could and should be good, that goodness can and will prevail. He fell in love with what she saw in him - never is Bellamy more whole than when he is looking at himself through her eyes.

And Clarke… Clarke fell in love with Bellamy’s heart. With the idea that someone’s heart could be both their weakness and their strength, their resilience, their courage. She was inspired by the intensity of his love for his sister - a love like nothing she’d ever seen, a love that changed the way she thought about love. She fell in love with his ability to reach straight into the hearts of people, with just a look, with just a word. She fell in love with his humanity - and with his ability to inspire it in others. And when she’s afraid she’s lost her own humanity, when she feels it slipping, he’s there. He’s there for her but also as living proof: that love doesn’t have to run out, that it doesn’t have to burn you down like fire to a candle. He reminds her that her humanity isn’t destined to be lost.

So after all that has been forced on them, and all that they’ve suffered - there is a measure of innocence, of softness that they will never regain, that they can never have. But what’s extraordinary - what makes Bellarke extraordinary to me - is how jealously and defiantly they have held on to that last measure of softness, of vulnerability, of humanity. They cling to it and share it between them and somehow, through that choice, they turn it into something more. Because when they are with each other, they are not only at their most vulnerable - they are at their strongest. They turn each other’s softness to strength, their compassion into determination. That kind of love transcends desire or declaration, definition or dismissal. And it’s damn well worth celebrating.

the loud gurgling coming from below caused alec to look at the tiny, blue baby warlock bouncing excitedly in the baby carrier that alec had strapped to his chest earlier. his tiny feet covered by the blue and white striped onesie he was currently wearing were moving excitedly as the baby kicked, squealing and cooing as alec walked around the institute, a report in his hand.

alec took baby max’s hand in his and smiled fondly when his blue fingers curled around his pinky, shaking it around in his tiny fist, alec’s wedding ring glinting in the light.

“are you excited to see papa?” alec asked and max looked up at him, blinking with those huge eyes of his and gave alec a toothless, adorable smile. “yeah, me too.” alec grinned and kissed max on the top of his head. “just one more order to give out, blueberry, and then we can go home and you can drink a nice warm bottle of milk.”

alec rounded the corner with a giggling max and entered the training room with ease and with an air of friendship marched up to aline, gloves on and jabbing fiercely at the punching bag in front of her. music loudly blasted from her ears so it took her a second to realize he was there. a smile as sweet as cherries spread across aline’s face at the sight of her friend, her face flushed from training.

“hey, boss,” she said and alec chuckled at the title aline had teasingly bestowed on him when she first arrived at the institute a couple of years ago. “i’m guessing you have the weekly report on the new recruits?”

“that i do,” alec presented it dramatically and aline took it with a flourish, adding a little bow which was accompanied by a giggle. “i looked them over but i wanted you to keep them, since you are the one in charge of that department.”

“children are a joy, aren’t they?” aline sighed, shaking her head with a grin. “you certainly are, aren’t you?” she crooned suddenly, looking at max and taking his little feet in her hands and waving them up and down. max always got that bright, happy look in his eyes whenever he saw aline and it warmed alec’s heart when his son laughed at one particular funny face aline was making at him.

“oh, you are just too cute!” aline squealed, kissing max on both cheeks. his chubby hands made contact with her face and he smiled as he ran his fingers over her cheeks curiously. “he totally has magnus’ charm.” she looked back up at alec, who was chuckling fondly at the scene before him.

“how do you know he got that all from magnus?” alec huffed, pretending to mad, even though he knew it was true.

“have you met your husband? one look and he’ll sweep you off your feet. this little guy is going to make the world spin with his smile or laugh alone.” aline said as max was still running his hands along her face, occasionally pressing their foreheads together and causing aline to giggle.

“well, that’s true. he did sweep me off my feet.” alec felt butterflies erupt in his stomach at the thought of magnus, his husband, his absolute one and only love and how nothing had changed since the first day they had met, a dopey smile on his face and his cheeks flushed and his heart sighing dreamily. aline was right: all it took was one look and alec was gone forever.

“aw, you’re getting that look in your eyes, you sap.” aline teased coming up from playing with max to poke alec in the arm.

alec rolled his eyes. “look who’s talking,” he gestured towards aline’s ring finger, a gorgeous engagement ring winking at the both of them. “every time helen walks bye, you have to stop and watch her leave. every time she kisses you, you sigh that sigh. you know the one: the cheesy, romantic, be still my beating heart sigh. don’t point fingers at me, aline.” aline made a face at him but she beamed at him afterwards.

“it’s true. i’m in love and whipped. and here’s the proof.” she wiggled her engagement ring in alec’s face. “you better get us lots of presents.”

“being your best man isn’t enough?” alec chortled and aline stuck her tongue out at him.

“alright, go, be with your prince charming. i have to get back to my princess anyway.” aline pulled alec into a quick hug that wouldn’t smush the baby, placing a quick kiss on max’s forehead. “bye, max!”

“say bye, max!” alec encouraged the baby, who merely looked at him, confusion on his face.

“don’t worry, i know he loves me.” aline laughed and she waved cheerfully at the father and son, turning and practically sprinting down the hallway to go see her future wife. alec watched her go, happiness for his friend taking over his entire soul.

the sound of crying caused alec to look down at max, who was fidgeting and squirming, his face screwed up and his lips puckered.

“aw, i know honey, i know,” alec soothed, carefully taking max out of the baby carrier and holding him to his chest. “we’re going home right now to see papa.”

“no need, i’m right here.” alec turned around surprised to see his husband, his gorgeous, beautiful, amazing, kind, wonderful, smart, strong husband walking toward him, glitter dusting his cheekbones like freckles and eyelids. his hair had blue streaks in it and he look glorious in the glittery black jacket he was adorning, a jacket that alec had grown fond over the years. seeing him walking towards him and their child was like alec seeing magnus walk down the aisle  and he felt his stomach drop as pure bliss overtook his emotions.

“hi, love” magnus reached up, a hand on alec’s neck, to softly kiss him hello. alec let his eyes droop close, the feeling of magnus’ lips on his soft and sweet like toffee and he relished in the feeling of his warm fingertips against his skin.

“hi, babe.” alec hummed and magnus smiled, their noses brushing as he leaned in to kiss him again.

“good day today? how was your client?”

“positively dreadful, darling, but seeing your face at the end of the day makes it worth it,” alec felt his face heat up and magnus smiled and brushed a strand of hair off of his forehead. “how was your day?”

“same, boring, couldn’t stop thinking about kissing you and holding you in my arms. but what else is new?”

magnus tittered at this. “cheeky, mr. lightwood-bane.” he quipped, kissing alec’s nose and turning his attention to the wiggling bundle of joy leaning against alec’s chest.

“there’s my baby!” magnus took max out of alec’s arms and held him up, kissing his cheek repeatedly as max laughed and clapped his hands. “did you miss me? i missed you so much, lovebug!” he blew a raspberry against max’s stomach, causing the baby to roar with contagious laughter.

“he really wanted to see you today. we both did.” alec put a hand on magnus’ lower back as they watched max run his hands through magnus’ hair, babbling. “also, he’s hungry.”

“luckily, you’re married to a warlock, sweetheart.” magnus snapped his fingers and a bottle appeared in his hand.

“luckily, i’m married to you.” alec pressed a kiss against magnus’ temple and magnus smiled at him, scrunching his nose in the way that alec loved, before holding the bottle to max’s mouth.

“he’s so beautiful,” magnus said as they watched max drink out of the bottle, his eyelashes fluttering as he started to get sleepy. “ he’s growing so fast. soon he’ll be able to walk and talk, even hold this very bottle up by himself. i can’t believe we’re actually parents. and married.”

“what a wonderful way to spend the rest of our lives.” alec replied thoughtfully as magnus made a noise in agreement, leaning back against alec.

“they say a home can be a house and that a home can be a place and that a home can be a person, but they were wrong. a home can be people. my home is two people: my exquisite husband and our exquisite child.”

magnus clicked his fingers and the bottle disappeared and both him and alec, grinning and exchanging soft kisses, watched their son sleeping in magnus’ arms, the three of them surrounded in the feelings of simple but sweet contentment.

anonymous asked:

In 6x18, Snow said she had been planning Emma's wedding since the first curse was broken. Back then Emma was in love with Neal and then Walsh so isnt it obvious that Snow doesnt care who Emma ended up marrying just as long it was to a man?

Yes, and it actually started with Graham. Emma doesn’t show any particular interest in Graham. She’s nice to him, but beyond them being a good-looking man and a woman interacting, there was very little added there. Meanwhile Emma looks at Regina like this…

…and this.

Graham then assumes Emma has feelings for him because she has a very emotional reaction when she catches him sleeping with Regina. He kisses her to try and tell her that he likes her better than Regina and she is just completely confused and stunned by his kiss. She doesn’t realize he is responding to her obvious jealousy because it wasn’t about him. It was about Regina, because for her attraction to Regina we did actually get clues beyond them just sharing screentime.

Next Mary Margaret gets flowers from Whale. Emma angrily throws them thinking Graham is overstepping - and Mary Margaret convinces her it’s completely obvious to everyone she’s in love with Graham. She uses Emma’s anger about this guy not respecting her boundaries as proof she’s actually in love. The idea of Mary Margaret being Emma’s real mother had already been planted in Emma’s mind. Emma hadn’t worked through her abandonment issues, so she was already vulnerable to Mary Margaret’s opinions of her.

Mary Margaret introduced the idea of Emma having walls up. Walls that keep out love. That wasn’t Emma talking, that was Mary Margaret interpreting the situation. Wrongly. If Emma was mostly oblivious to her own feelings, she was also susceptible to Mary Margaret’s explanation for them. She would have noticed not being able to form emotional bonds with men, not being able to fall in love with them like she was supposed to. So an explanation - preferably not a gay one - would have been welcome. It’s only after that conversation with Mary Margaret she suddenly gives Graham a chance.

After establishing this, they didn’t need to give us any extra explanations for Emma’s relationships with men. Ever since this happened it’s been about being normal and being the person she thinks her mother wants her to be. That’s how repression works in the real world, that’s how lesbians end up married to men. It’s common enough for me to know at least two women in that situation and I didn’t meet them in queer spaces either. I met them at work. On two different continents in two different jobs. A few years later they came out. Both don’t identify as bisexual, but as lesbians.

Even if the show hadn’t given us any clue that Emma might be a lesbian in denial, plenty of shows have characters previously thought to be straight come out, because this is realistic. This happens in the real world. You think you’re straight until you realize you’re not and before that… you act straight or try to act straight. This is a show that went as far as establishing how it actually works beforehand, a show that gave us a hint before building up the closet. So of course, it’s meaningful, otherwise they wouldn’t have done it. It’s an integral part of Emma’s journey, that’s why she’s now about to be married and we are still getting so much focus on the involvement of Snow, because they told us from the beginning that this was about her relationship with her mother.

On top of that they coded Mary Margaret/Snow as a religious mother. She wears a cross. She volunteered for the nuns. She lives in a community that blames her more than David when he cheats on his wife. Women’s sexuality is more restricted. She talks about forgiveness, redemption, and grace. Emma grew up in our world. Of course she would delve deep in the closet in response to that, not willing to risk anything now that she thinks she’s found her real family. She has been obsessed with finding her birth parents, and there would only be one set of those. She wouldn’t want to risk alienating them before getting to know them, but in the process… she lost herself.

“People are going to tell you who you are your whole life. You just got to punch back and say, ‘no, this is who I am.’ You want people to look at you differently? Make them.”

The story has been consistent. She just needs to remember who she is and follow her own advice.

concept: every word that’s thought about you appears on your skin like a tattoo.

there’s your best friend, aromantic and proud of it, the kindest person you’ve ever met. she knows everybody in your grade by name and she has more friends than anyone you know. she won’t ever wear shorts because she’s embarrassed of showing her legs where she’s covered in compliments, proof that she is loved a thousand times over.

there’s the boy who loves reading and drawing and other boys. he comes to school with sharpied artwork all over his skin to cover up the words that scream QUEER over and over and over. he holds himself tall and smiles at everyone and when people see him, they think masterpiece before they think gay.

there’s the most popular girl in high school, four-time homecoming queen, who harbors a secret love for math. at lunch her friend wrinkles his nose at her calculus homework - “damn, you’re such a nerd.” she laughs it off and every time her heart breaks a little. NICE and PRETTY dot her skin like freckles, but she’d burn all of them off just for one SMART.

there’s the boy you sit behind in english class with soft eyes and a tragic smile. one day his sleeves slip back and you see JUST KILL YOURSELF ALREADY snaking across his arm and between the slits on his wrist. so for a week you concentrate on the same thought, and on friday you finally see the product of your labor: YOU ARE LOVED YOU ARE LOVED all across his hand and crowding out the words on his wrist. he touches it every few minutes, gently, like he can’t believe it’s really there, and you smile so hard you almost cry.

and there’s you, with a patchwork of compliments intertwined with the insults: your hipbones read FAT and your ankles read I WISH I WERE YOUR FRIEND. some nights you spend hours in front of the mirror, fingers tracing over the constellations patterned across your skin, wondering which words came from whom. sometimes you find an extra I LOVE YOU tucked into the curve of your elbow and you’re ecstatic, but when it fades away days later you feel like you’ve lost something. most of the words come and go, but always, over your heart, there’s this: YOU WILL MAKE IT. and on the bad days when all you want is to fall onto your bed and cry your eyes out and never get back up, you look in the mirror instead and think, you will make it. you will make it, i swear. you will.

Royai Tidbits from FMA: To the Promised Day (PSP Game)

There’s this FMA game for PSP that was never released outside Japan (and thus, untranslated). It’s called Fullmetal Alchemist: To the Promised Day. What’s interesting about this game is that it shows what the characters were up to before and during the preparation period for Promised Day. There are a lot of side stories which were not included in the manga and/or anime and most of the stuff are related to character development and/or backstory.

Since I’m Royai trash, I painstakingly watched the entire playthrough of one user (カジ) on Nico Nico Douga to glean as much information about Riza and Roy as I could. I’m not sure if the game is canon, though. I used the image translation function of Google Translate + my meagre knowledge of the Japanese language for the dialogues so I probably missed some of the details, but hey, something is better than nothing, right? Here’s my first official contribution to the Royai community. Cheers!

Please credit/mention my blog when you use the summary/translation for your works. Thanks <3

PS. BEWARE OF SPOILERS FOR THE MANGA/FMA:BROTHERHOOD

EDIT (31.05.2017): I already posted the full translation of Riza and Ed’s conversation here.

#1. Ed and Riza discuss their daddy issues

One of the scenarios that you can unlock in the game involves Riza and Ed talking about their dads. Riza reveals to Ed that her father is also an alchemist, which is why she could empathize with him. She also admits eventually that Roy was her father’s apprentice (and she calls him Mustang-san instead of Colonel as she narrates her story to Ed).

Riza tries to convince Ed to talk to his dad at the very least, while he still has the chance. Then she proceeds to tell him about her relationship with her late father – how she was afraid of him because he was so obsessed with his alchemy, and how Roy (after Berthold’s death) convinced her that her father loved her in his own way (the proof of which was the moment he asked practically begged Roy to apologize to Riza on his behalf and to take care of her). At first Riza doesn’t say who the apprentice was, but in the end, Ed pieces together the clues and figures it out. Ed is left shocked, but thanks Riza for her advice and for revealing a part of her past to him.

#2. Al, Roy and Havoc share their hospital fantasies/preferences

Al visits Roy and Havoc in the hospital after the encounter with Lust. While Riza is away, Havoc begins a conversation about his hospital fantasies. Al (bless his innocent soul) comments that he wouldn’t mind it if Lieutenant Hawkeye took care of him while he’s sick/injured because she seems capable and caring. Havoc then gets this brilliant idea of imagining Riza as a nurse, and then as a doctor. [screenshots from kaji’s playthrough on Nico Nico Douga]

He voices out his opinions on each of the scenarios. He says the nurse uniform would enhance Riza’s feminine hips, while the doctor outfit would emphasize her beautiful legs. Roy just hums/nods in agreement at each of the mental images. This is where the screenshots of Riza as a nurse and doctor come from!! An unamused Riza eventually returns to the room and tells them that she heard everything since she was just outside talking to some other patient. The guys are terrified, and Al quickly excuses himself and rushes out of the room.

#3. Riza goes on a picnic with Ed and Al and reveals more about young!Royai

Riza meets up with the Elric brothers for a picnic. Ed consumes everything in sight and comments that the food she had prepared were really good. Al then points out that Riza is the perfect/best woman because she is beautiful, cooks really well, and is really competent at what she does (or she’s good at work, I was lost in translation!). Riza says that it wasn’t always the case.

She tells them that she had to learn how to cook at a young age since her mother passed away early. At first, she had no idea how to cook, but she had to do so anyway since nobody else would do it for her. Then her father’s apprentice Roy arrived. Riza once tried to prepare a feast for him on his birthday. He gladly ate everything she cooked and enthusiastically praised her for her cooking, even if he ended up running to the toilet afterwards. She was so touched by his kindness that she took up cooking lessons so she can prepare better meals for him. [At this point, I’m not sure if the brothers figured out she was referring to Roy every time she mentioned the apprentice.] Al then says it’s great that she cooks really well now, and asks if there’s someone she’s cooking for. She says there used to be someone, but right now that person can’t eat the food that she prepared. [WE ALL KNOW IT’S ROY!!] The boys thank Riza for the wonderful lunch, and assure her that someday she can cook for and eat with that person again. Awwwww.

Right now I can’t remember if there are other important Royai scenes. Maybe I’ll re-watch (and translate, then summarize) the other scenes if I have time ^__^

Endless List of Favorite Characters: Felicity Smoak (Arrow)

“If I had had more time to think of that sentence it wouldn’t have sounded so dirty”

Do not fall in love with woman who reads, who feels too much, who writes. Do not fall in love with woman who is educated, charming, crazy. Do not fall in love with woman who thinks and who knows how to fly, who is sure of herself. Do not fall in love with woman who laughs or cries during making love, who knows how to transform her body into a soul and absolutely do not fall in love with woman who adores poetry (because those kind of women are the most dangerous ones). Avoid a woman who can contemplate about painting for hours and cannot live without music. Do not fall in love with woman who is interested in politics, who is a rebel and who feels tremendous horror when injustice is made. Do not fall in love with woman who does not watch television and whose face and body is not the only proof of her beauty. Do not fall in love with woman who is strong, brilliant, sarcastic. You will not like being in love with such woman, because whether she stays with you or not, whether she will love you or not, from that kind of woman there is no turning back.
