Am I the only one who noticed that during this AJ/Callie/Aaron triangle, they have a tendency to make one of the guys say something HIGHKEY disrespectful in order to justify Callie leaning towards the other one?
Last time, AJ said that he wouldn’t have been so jealous of Aaron if he had known he was trans. Like, there was this kind of relief AJ had like an ‘oh, I thought he was a GUY, I was worried about nothing, never mind’ kind of attitude and it was like, oh hell no for her.
This time, Aaron said how easy it was for him to take Callie from AJ and how easy it would be for AJ to do him. That’s unbelievably misogynistic. It makes Callie seem like an object and that it’s between us GUYS. Like, it was just so disrespectful and it was like, oh hell no for her.
This didn’t happen with the Wyatt/Callie/Brandon triangle in the first season. Wyatt didn’t say/do anything disrespectful that made Callie lean towards Brandon. Brandon didn’t say/do anything disrespectful that made Callie lean towards Wyatt. It was about her feelings. Which guy she had stronger feelings for (*cough* Brandon *cough*) but it was Brandon and Callie’s situation that played into what made her lean towards one over the other. So the show didn’t resort to the boys’ CHARACTER coming into question.
Now the show is making the boys’ character come into question in these harsh moments and unfortunately, it’s just hard to come back from them cause I don’t forget..
