so today I found myself in the back room with conbini bae and it brought up some stuff so

this should satisfy any and all questions I get about conbini bae and what happened literally a couple months ago?? ( I think???? ). it was a lost cause from the start and I think I was just tired and sent a video letter to @thisclosetodiscourse after it happened.

I just filled the group chat in and didn’t feel like retyping to tumblr so y'all get screenshots.

cameos ft. @maia-speaks and @ramandab-daisuki

Now that I’m hitting the 2 weeks left in Japan mark I am absolutely floored with the amount of gratitude and kindness I am receiving.

A week and a half ago I said goodbye to my visit school, a special school for visually impaired students that I visted weekly during my time on JET. I made a point to write letters to all the teachers who had been kind and welcoming to me and made my time at that school special.

I went out of my way to write a note in Japanese to the Japanese teacher who shared the office with the English teachers. She often invited me to try calligraphy or make washi with her and the students if I had a free period and happily let me practice my Japanese with her. I wanted to thank her for everything because it was people like her that made Japan really special for me.

Turns out she came in to deliver a letter (both in English and Japanese) and a plethora of Hello Kitty goods to me at my base school and say a final goodbye. The fact that she went out of her way to do so, really touched me too and I’m currently a sobbing mess. I feel so lucky to be shown such an insane amount of kindess here in Japan. It’s the people like these that are making it hard to leave.

The new code also complains of U.S.-centric coverage

Applying tone and geographic analysis to a 30–year worldwide news archive, global news tone is found to have forecasted the revolutions in Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya, including the removal of Egyptian President Mubarak, predicted the stability of Saudi Arabia (at least through May 2011), estimated Osama Bin Laden’s likely hiding place as a 200–kilometer radius in Northern Pakistan that includes Abbotabad, and offered a new look at the world’s cultural affiliations. Along the way, common assertions about the news, such as “news is becoming more negative” and “American news portrays a U.S.–centric view of the world” are found to have merit.-F

TV Exchange Student: British Shows That Americans Need to See

External image

As Rob mentioned last week, he and I at one point had a discussion about good television shows that are oft missed by the masses because they are shown (almost) exclusively in other countries. Last week, Rob shared with us some US and AU shows that Brits simply must see. This week, I thought I would share some of my favorite British shows that every Yank (that’s us, Americans!) should watch at least once.
