Barnes takes a break from Westworld to play a friend of Frank’s from their shared combat past who now runs a private military company called Anvil. Fans of the comics, though, know what probably lies in Billy the Beaut’s future…
Ok so this was was coming since I’ve just watched all 8 films and am major crushing on half the cast, the cars and the action set pieces. Also I couldn’t decide on whether it be Atomwave or Coldatom as these guys all have such chemistry and it works for both pairings so it’s Coldatomwave.
Leonard is the leader of the gang, the brains and planner. (Vin diesels character, the Dom of the group. But also totally could be Statham with the cunning, prison escapee and fircely protective of his brother)
Mick his second in the command the brawn. (But also could be Dom, they also have a lot in common but like the Rocks character, the bad ass but also very smart but tends to be more hands on)
Ray is the tech guy and heart of the team. (He’s a mix of Michelle Rodriguez, Doms wife and the tech of
Ludacris’s character and
Nathalie Emmanuel‘s character).
Len and Mick start off as street racers and theives but soon their skills are needed to track down criminals and perform high risk heists and track down tech being smuggled illegally, (all that awesome nonsense that the franchise has).
They recruit hacker and tech genius Ray Palmer, who at first is a bit of a geek and annoying but his positive nature becomes endeardering they both start to fall for him. Being the genius he is Ray is targetted by
Mose Jakande, a Somali mercenary and terrorist who leads a private military company. Len and Mick have to protect their boy and make sure his tech doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. Ray realises he’s fallen for the two men and can’t decide which one he wants to be with. In the end he chooses both and they make an awesome team and the three are a happy in their poly threesome.
The year is 2093. The world as you know it is over.
The concept of the nation-state is obsolete, with all examples extinguished in the National Dismantlement War (ND War) fifty years ago. With nations went the ideas of citizenship, rights, and accountability.
Earth and its orbital environs belong to the Global Operations Technical Enforcement Institution (GOTEI), the militarized end-product of the various Private Military Companies (PMCs) which destroyed the status quo. The ranks of its leadership still include the most skilled survivors of that conflict, such as Yamamoto
and Unohana Retsu.
Its operatives, known as “Shinigami"—death gods—serve as judge, jury, and executioner, implementing GOTEI’s iron-fisted rule. Despised and feared, their ranks grow ever deeper, luring in recruits with the latest in personal military hardware—mechanical augmentations and ”zanpakutō.“ Supposedly a man-machine interface with a linked combat AI, it is actually something far more sinister: a technologically-induced multicore. True AI remains elusive, and it is much easier to split off a bit of a soldier’s personality to form a new, highly aggressive “individual” suited for patrol and warfare.
As far above GOTEI as the Moon is from the Earth are the Four Great Zaibatsu (FGZ)—Fujita, Hasegawa, Kuchiki, and Shihōin—and their various allies and subsidiaries. Megacorporations that backed, funded, and equipped the technologically superior forces of what would become GOTEI, they are today behind the R&D, design, manufacture, distribution, and retail of virtually all manufactured goods. They control everything.
In this new world order, ability is second to augmentation—nothing beats the latest and greatest in technology. The FGZ represent the ultimate in the new corporate aristocracy, immortal and immaculate. Beneath them, the masses teem in finely stratified castes, sorted regimented by what they can afford. At the very bottom of the scrap heap are the unaugmented.
However, GOTEI’s rule does not go uncontested.
Standing out from the background noise of violence like gangs and doomsday cults are the KwNZ, or “Königlichwehr für das Naturalistisch Ziel” (”Kwen-Zee,” Royal Force for the Naturalist Objective). Claiming descent (or splicing) from a supposed supersoldier who fought in the ND War, they are anti-mechanical neo-luddites who advocate for an equally cruel and supremacist system based on genetic engineering, gene-splicing, and eugenics. Ruthlessly suppressed by GOTEI, their activity appears to have dwindled in recent years, but their lingering presence in various conflicts and constant memetic attacks on the global network prophesying the “Return of the King” are constant.
Although death is—for the rich, anyway—seemingly a thing of the past, something worse than violence and accidents stalks the unaugmented populace: a mutagenic virus known as “Hollow.” Its origins unknown, it is widely rumored to be some sort of biological weapon unleashed during the ND War, and twists the infected into horrible monstrosities that insatiably hunger for human flesh. The Shinigami, hated though they are, seem to be the only thing keeping it in check.
But in this dark world, where the mechanically and biologically augmented rule, the emergence of a new technology—and the meeting of two very particular individuals—means things are about to change.
Kuchiki Rukia: a lowly soldier in GOTEI, she is nonetheless the adopted sister of the head of the Kuchiki Zaibatsu, Kuchiki Byakuya. Lightly—yet exquisitely—augmented, she bears a secret from her time on the streets that will change the world forever: the world’s first operational and self-replicating fusion of hylonano and bionano technology. Hidden within her during her youth by a GOTEI commander and scientist (Urahara Kisuke) before his defection, this technology has been largely quiescent within her, despite adapting and forming something of a symbiotic relationship. Until, that is, one fateful and bizarre encounter activates it…
Kurosaki Ichigo: seemingly an unaugmented nobody, Ichigo has always been unusual in little ways. He doesn’t bleed as much as he should. He sees things other people don’t see. He has an unusual reaction time. His intuition and situational awareness are preternatural. He doesn’t have to work out. The reason for that is simple, if unknown to him: he’s the son of a KwNZ commando who was infected with Hollow, and a GOTEI commander who was also the last great hope of the defunct Shiba Zaibatsu. His body is laced with modified genetics, cyber-implants, and an ever-changing virus. In other words, he is the perfect host.
When Rukia saves Ichigo from a berserk Hollow creature by literally throwing her body in harm’s way, he becomes infected by the nanotech within her body, and it activates in both of them. While he very rapidly acquires new and ever-changing abilities and modifications, she seems to weaken greatly, her body beginning to reject her augmentations and seemingly leaving her a healthy but normal human. With no other choice, she presses him into service, fulfilling her patrol route for GOTEI and teaching him what she knows.
They soon meet that same Urahara Kisuke, and quickly rescue the world’s last truly sapient and unchained AI.
While limited and restricted AI
(such as Rukia’s “Chappy” assistant)
isn’t uncommon, the last effort to develop something more ended in a purge. Too obsessed with the finer points of female anatomy from all its time soaking in the Urahara Shop’s infonet to bootstrap itself to godhood and initiate the Singularity, it demands to be called “KAI” (”King AI”), only for Ichigo and Rukia to instead dub it KON (”King Of Nothing”).
Unbeknownst to anyone but Kisuke, Rukia’s comparatively normal physiology is simply taking longer for the nanotech to modify and adapt to. Together, Ichigo and Rukia are the first nanoaugments in a world of mech-and-bioaugments…
But sinister forces with their own agendas are everywhere.
“A good question my blue buddy! The clue is in the name though! A Private Military Company is just that, military. Mercs however can be paid to do all sorts. You wouldn’t hire a PMC to go picking berries when you need to restock quickly.. things like that, the little things.”
The Left Arm Of The Free World: The AR-15 - 5.56x45 NATO
The icon of the United States, the AR-15 series of rifles has become a common sight across the world. SWAT teams, NATO forces, American backed rebels, the AR-15 is one of the most common rifles in the world, and despite what politicians may say, the AR-15′s origins lie in the late 1950′s.
The AR-15′s background is with ArmaLite. At first a division of Fairchild Aircraft, they were tasked with making a number of guns out of aluminum. With the first designs like the AR-1, AR-5 and AR-7, the 1957 US Army Rifle Trials saw ArmaLite submit a new gun, designed by Eugene Stoner.
The AR-10. The ArmaLite Rifle Model-10 was tested alongside the M14 and FN FAL. It was significantly lighter than the other two rifles, at 7 pounds. The rifle did very well until a catastrophic failure with the barrel got it kicked out. And while the US Army dropped the rifle, many other countries bought some, most famously Portugal and Sudan, but other countries like Batista-era Cuba, Brazil, West Germany and Guatemala bought AR-10′s.
ArmaLite and Stoner went back to the drawing board and began thinking of how to improve the AR-10. A request by General Willard G. Wyman in the late 50′s called for a lightweight .223 caliber rifle capable of penetrating a steel helmet at 500 yards while keeping a high speed and matching the same penetration power of .30 Carbine.
Armalite responded back with the Armalite Rifle Model 15. Yes that’s what AR-15 actually stands for. And ArmaLite managed to strike a chord with one man. General Curtis LeMay.
LeMay was very impressed by the AR-15 at first, ordering about 80,000 AR-15′s for the US Air Force. However, Robert McNamara was against having two different calibers and LeMay’s orders were denied. William Godel, a senior official at DARPA decided to send 10 AR-15′s for testing in Vietnam. The results were very good, and more were sent.
These testings forced McNamara to allow around 85,000 AR-15′s to enter US Army testing as well as 19,000 to US Air Force testing to appease LeMay. The original XM16 series had problems. The powder load for the original 5.56 batch was made by DuPont and found to be inferior and quickly swapped for Olin’s WC 544 powder. That and a lingering idea that the XM16′s were self-cleaning meant that around 80% were reported to have had malfunctions with their rifle.
The response was the XM16E1. This included a number of improvements including chrome plated chamber, forward assist and cleaning kits. This helped rectify the M16′s horrible reputation in Vietnam and from there led to the whole AR-15 lineage.
The XM16E1 and M16A1′s served in Vietnam and were well liked by soldiers. From there, the M16 series became the US Army standard and soon a NATO standard. The US made NATO adopt some 5.56 caliber rifle and soon most had their own model of 5.56 rifle or an AR-15 rifle.
The AR-15 series has become the most common 5.56 caliber rifle in the world, arming 15 NATO countries as well as 80 others. Israel, the US, South Korea, New Zealand, the Philippines, Mexico and so on use US models.
The Canadians arm themselves with the homegrown C7 and C8 series, made by Diemaco/Colt Canada and are sold to countries like the Netherland, the UK, Denmark, and so on.
And besides the main M16A1/A2/A3/A4 series, the AR-15 has a number of military versions. The first was the XM177 series of carbines that began production in Vietnam and evolved into a large variety of carbines, including the Model 727, 733, and most famously, the M4A1.
Besides military models, a large amount of civilian AR-15′s exist on the market. DPMS, Colt, Bushmaster, ArmaLite, Olympic Arms, Norinco, FN, Knight’s Armament, Daniel Defense and so many others have made semi-auto versions for the civilian market.
The AR-15 is a very famous rifle, with roughly 8 million made, it’s usage by SWAT teams, world militaries and a number of civilian shooters makes it a common sight, whether demonized by the media or in the hands of heroes and bad guys in cinema.
Ever since 1964′s Seven Days In May, the silver screen has been jammed pack with AR-15′s. Vietnam movies feature the original M16 and M16A1, modern war movies feature the M4A1 and M16A4, sci-fi features them, documentaries feature them, comedy movies feature them, it’s a favorite of all.
Al Pacino uses one in Scarface, the robbery crew of Heat use them, the protagonists and the US Marines in The Rock use them, the US Army Rangers and Delta Force of Black Hawk Down use several different models. From the sands of Iraq to the mega prison of Manhattan, the AR-15 series is a common sight.
And as always, video games take cues from the real world and cinema, and one that is a very common sight is the AR-15 series. Modern combat games such as the Call of Duty and Battlefield field the M16/M4 series as it’s standard rifle, as do the more realistic ones like Squad and Insurgency. Zombie games like Dead Rising, Left 4 Dead and No More Room In Hell boast it as a remnant of US Armed Forces and SWAT teams attempts to contain the infections.
Many games have AR-15′s in more dubious roles, such as the GTA series and PAYDAY 2 having many arm the hands of criminals and bank robbers. Private Military Companies in games tend to arm themselves with European arms, though AR-15′s are sometimes seen. From the bank robber to the Army Private, an AR-15 will always be rendered and firing strong.
And that is the tale of the AR-15, from a failed military trial to one of the most common rifles across the world. It’s a 50 year old design and shows no sign of sloping in popularity. It’s seen through wars in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Drug Wars the world over, the Troubles, many shootings and more. From the sands of Iraq and the mud of Vietnam to the streets of Belfast and Mexico, there will always be an ArmaLite Rifle.
“I’m just down along the Falls road it’s where I’m to be, lying in the dark with the Provo Company, a comrade on me left and another on me right, and a clip of ammunition for me little Armalite”
When the country of Nigeria kicked out U.S. Army Green Berets and British Army SAS recently, ostensibly because the U.S. would not supply the Nigerian Army with attack helo’s and high level intelligence, they turned to Mercenaries from South Africa to fight Boko Haram.
With their roots in South Africa apartheid-era security forces, they do not fit the standard image of an army of liberation. But after just three months on the ground, a squad of grizzled, ageing white mercenaries have helped to end Boko Haram’s six-long year reign of terror in northern Nigeria.
Run by Colonel Eeben Barlow, a former commander in the South African Defense Force, the group of bush warfare experts were recruited in top secrecy in January to train an elite strike group within Nigeria’s disorganised, demoralized army.
Some of the guns-for-hire cut their teeth in South Africa’s border wars 30 years ago. But their formidable fighting skills – backed by their own helicopter pilots flying combat missions – have proved decisive in helping the military turn around its campaign against Boko Haram in its north-eastern strongholds.
During apartheid, Col Barlow served with the South African Defense Force, a mainly white military unit that defended the regime against insurrection and fought border wars in neighboring Angola and what is now Namibia.
In 1989, as apartheid was beginning to crumble, he co-founded Executive Outcomes, a private military company made up of many ex-members of South Africa’s security forces. One of the first modern “private armies”, in 1995 it successfully helped the government of Sierra Leone defend itself against the rebels of the Revolutionary United Front, notorious for chopping off the arms of their enemies.
“The use of mercenaries in warfare has a very long history—much longer, in fact, than the almost-exclusive deployment of national militaries to wage wars. Before the Peace of Westphalia in 1648 ended Europe’s Thirty Years’ War and marked the rise of the modern state system, medieval powers from kings to popes routinely hired private fighters to do battle for them. As state governments sought a monopoly on the use of force within their territories in the 17th century, however, they moved to stamp out violence by non-state actors, including mercenaries, driving the industry underground.
America’s reliance on private military companies in Iraq and Afghanistan over the past decade hasn’t just expanded the industry; it’s also started to change the conduct of international relations.”
After the fall of Beacon, there has been a call for an increase in security everywhere; Vale, Mistral, Mantle, Vacuo, and even Menagerie have been hiring whatever mercenaries, hunters, and PMCs they can get their hands on. Whatever made people feel in danger, now make them feel safe. However, with this increase in mercenaries, hunters, and PMCs, the streets of kingdoms has arguably become more dangerous.
Coincidentally, in the kingdom of Mistral, three factions have rose and overrun the local police force.
The banded Mercenaries, called the “Red Skulls”, are a ruthless faction. Their strengths are in numbers and brutality. They rule their territory with brutality and fear.
The criminal Private Military Company, called the “Black Hammer Division”, are the most versatile of the factions. Their strengths are in their technology and weapons. They rule their territory with the barrel of a gun, and the citizens are at the end of it.
The corrupted Hunters, called the “Wolves”, are the smallest but most dangerous faction. Their strength is in their pure uncanny combat prowess. They rule their territory with an iron fist.
Phantom was sent to the kingdom of Mistral to stop the three factions in their tracks. The Commander assigned another Hunter to help Phantom in this assignment. The Hunter’s name was Crimson Blade. Phantom and Crimson had contacted each other beforehand and decided to meet up at a tavern in Merc territory. In the Tavern, Phantom waited quietly and patiently, watching people and riff raff come in and out, tracking their movements and observing their actions.
My guild on Moon Guard, the Order of the Beast, is recruiting people to fill out our raid team for Tomb of Sargeras and the coming raid: Antoras, the Burning Throne. In addition, we’re doing Mythic+ 5-mans every week, and we’re always looking for people to join in our wacky dungeon shenanigans!
The Order of the Beast is an Alliance-side RP, PVP, and casual raiding guild for all races and
classes. We are a privately-owned military company with noble aspirations – if somewhat
questionable characters (ahem, such as yours’ truly ;) ). Lead by Commander Kamara Eskevaldi, the Order has been engaged in battle across Azeroth and beyond for over 8 years, and are proud champions of the Alliance.
ICly, we’re currently engaged in an ongoing campaign against a vengeful Eredar Lord, Caelxis, defending our tower at Aerie Peak from Legion invasions, and assaulting strongholds on the Broken Isles and Argus. If you’re interested in taking the fight directly to the Legion, or supporting the war effort from the rear lines, there’s a place for you in the Order of the Beast!
Lunar and I have been running with this group for many months now, and they are a bunch of very talented, very friendly, and very chill players. Our guild officers are extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and are happy to help you out - whether you’re a newbie who is learning to raid for the first time, or a returning player looking to gear up,
In addition to doing a bit of everything in WoW (RP, PVP, Raiding, Mythic+, questing), we also have members who are into other games, including Overwatch, FFXIV, and Pathfinder / D&D / D20. Our Guild Discord channel is very active, so you can connect with other guildies at any time!
We’re currently aiming for a Guild-clear on heroic Tomb of Sargeras, and the AOTC achievement. We’re
especially looking for healers, so if you play a healer class (or know someone
who does) and are interested in raiding, please talk to us! (Even if you don’t play a healer, that’s fine too! Our doors are open!)
If you’re interested in joining, please contact our guild leader Kamara and/or guild recruitment officers: Casylia, Shyrellia, Jennifer Thornefield (Thornefield), Nydala, or
Tell them Tallgeez, the Mighty Hunter, sent you! HUZZAH! ~_^
“Who are you on the phone with?” Frank plopped himself next to Hazel, who was busy chatting up a storm on her cell while she was riffling through a box of what appeared to be passports –dozens of little booklets from all over the world, some brand new, others wrinkled and stamped by countless border patrols.
“Rachel,” she answered cheerfully. “I had a question about turn of the century ink that was used by German immigration offices, and Rachel needed to talk to me about the new holographic strips in Brazilian passports.”
MEDIA CAUGHT COVERING UP CLINTON’S ONGOING RAPE AND PLUNDERING OF HAITI. THIS IS REPREHENSIBLE, HOW DARE THESE DISGUSTING POLITICIANS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE STRUGGLING TO RECOVER FROM AN EARTHQUAKE - NOT TO MENTION, THIS WAS LIKELY A MAN-MADE EARTHQUAKE, CAUSED BY USING 5TH OR 6TH GENERATIN SMALL NUCLEAR BOMBS THAT GOVERNMENTS USE TO ACCESS DEEP UNDERGROUND OIL DEPOSITS. THESE NUKES ARE NOTORIOUS FOR CAUSING EARTHQUAKES ON THE SURFACE. 5TH AND 6TH GEN NUKES MAY BE SMALL AND MAY NOT LEAVE RESIDUAL RADIOACTIVITY IN THE ENVIRONMENT - BUT THEY DO TEND TO CAUSE EARTHQUAKES.
THE CLINTON’S, DYNCORP, THE CIA, AND OTHER PRIVATE MILITARY CONTRACTOR COMPANIES ARE FREQUENTLY SUSPECTED OF DOING THIS AROUND THE WORLD.
WATCH INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST GEORGE WEBB ON YOUTUBE - HE HAS DEVOTED MANY EPISODES TO ALL THE SKETCHY STUFF THE DEEP STATE AND THE CLINTON FOUNDATION HAS BEEN DOING TO THE HAITIAN PEOPLE - NOT ONLY TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THEM WHILE PRETENDING TO BE DELIVERING HUMANITARIAN AID AND ETC. THEY HAVE ALSO BEEN CAUGHT TRYING TO STEAL HAITIAN CHILDREN FROM THEIR FAMILIES, CALLING THEM “ORPHANS” WHEN THEY WERE NOT AND TRYING TO SMUGGLING POOR LITTLE HATIAN CHILDREN OUT OF THE COUNTRY AND BACK TO THE UNITED STATES IN THE MIDST OF THE CONFUSION AND CHAOS.
WHAT KIND OF EVIL, HEARTLESS SCUM BAGS WOULD DO THIS TO SO MANY INNOCENT PEOPLE? WELL, ABOUT 30% OF CONGRESS (BOTH REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS) HOWEVER, IN HAITAI, THE NAME CLINTON WILL FOREVER BE CURSED AND SPIT AT BY THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEEN FIRST HAND WHAT THE CLINTON FOUNDATION HAS BEN RESPONSIBLE FOR DOING TO THEIR BELOVED COUNTRY.
Headcanon: Helix Security not only knows exactly what Fareeha’s off doing with their Raptora suit, but they fully support her and the reformed Overwatch in doing so. Best case scenario, they get in on the ground floor of a rebuilt Overwatch to reap contracts and good PR alike. Worst case, they have to answer some awkward questions about corporations enforcing international law. (Otherwise known as a slow Tuesday for the legal and PR team of a private military company).
