Good news- the small child was perfectly enchanted by her mermaid surprise unlike the first mermaid party I did where the birthday girl wanted to be as FAR AWAY FROM THE MERMAID AS POSSIBLE
they wheeled me out on a desk chair which was pretty hilarious but actually worked a lot better than a Throne of Dads
and then omfg to get me in the pool
they put me in one of those disability chairs that you sit in and it sloooooowly lowers you into the pool
so I just sat in it, princess-waving for a full 5 minutes while I’m majestically lowered into the water. hilarious
Unlike the last party I actually was SWIMMING the whole time! They plopped me right into the deep end and I paddled around with the kids (who had floaties on and were swimming with their parents). Birthday girl was more than happy to show Marina the Mermaid how she can dunk her head in the water and jump off the side into her mom’s arms (she had just turned 4). Super cute.
You used a single finger to tilt Jimin’s head up, your lower lip held between your teeth as you concentrated on getting his eyeliner applied just right. Dark eyes focused on your face, his gaze unwavering, despite you having the tip of a pencil less than a millimeter away from his eyeball.
“You know,” He said, the hand that was resting on his cheek was jerked when his jaw moved.
“Stop talking.” You almost hissed, grateful that you hadn’t drawn a thick, black line all the way to his temple.
“You look good from all angles.” He finished anyway, his cheekbones rising as he smiled.
“Thank you, Jimin,” You sighed, “Stop talking.”
“I bet Jungkook gets to see you from this angle a lot, huh? Or vice versa.” His innocent smile made a quick transition into a smug smirk.
Suga snorted loudly in the chair next to Jimin, his eyes not lifting from his phone. You rolled your eyes, now using your thumb and first two fingers to grip Jimin’s chin, attempting to keep him more still.
“I’m just saying, he’s a lucky guy.” Jimin added when you said nothing.
“I’m going to poke you in the eye in five seconds, if you don’t knock it off.” You ground out, pressing your lips into a thin line as you focused on smudging out the dark, kohl line.
There was a beat of silence.
“I’d be more than happy to let you knock me off.”
For crying out loud.
You couldn’t help the small giggle that rose from your throat and spilled past your lips. You weren’t even laughing at the line, just at Jimin’s sheer childishness. That, or the fact that Taehyung and Hoseok were losing it in the background.
“Hey, be careful, Jimin.” Suga muttered, his laugh still obvious in his voice, “You don’t want Jungkook hearing you talk like that.”
You breathed out a long sigh, pausing the application of Jimin’s face powder to give Suga a stern look, that silently said, ‘Shut up.’. He shrugged a shoulder, raising a defensive hand before focusing his full attention on whatever app he was playing around with on his phone.
“Where is Jungkook anyway?” Namjoon asked from the couch at the back of the room, one arm slung over his eyes.
You opened your mouth to respond, about to give a very vague answer about him grabbing some food–leaving out the fact that the food was for you, lest you be scolded by Jin for “making” Jungkook go out in the cold. Your beginning of an explanation was drowned out by the door of the dressing room opening, flooding the quiet room with the buzzing white noise of anticipating fans.
“Speak of the devil.” Namjoon snickered, peeking quickly from under his arm.
Jungkook glared at him teasingly, brushing past the couch Namjoon was lying on and not-so-accidentally hitting him with the plastic bag he was carrying. You straightened up when Jungkook was within arms reach of you, propping yourself up on your toes to place a quick kiss to his lips. The act earned you a series of groans and grotesque sound effects from around the room.
“Get out of my chair, princess.” Jungkook tossed over his shoulder to Jimin, his body still turned towards you.
You were just waiting for someone–Jimin, most likely–to say something that would rile Jungkook up.
You were waiting for him to spew another one of his lame attempts at a pick up line. It was just their friendly rivalry, and you knew that. It was only an innocent back and forth between really good friends. Jimin just didn’t know the consequences of his actions, sometimes.
Especially when those consequences weren’t his.
Jimin was courteous enough to let Jungkook take his seat without a word. You were grateful, but you really pegged it to the fact that he didn’t want to risk being nagged for holding Jungkook back from getting ready when they only had fifteen minutes left before their performance.
When you brushed Jungkook’s bangs to the side, clipping them to hold them in place, he took the chance to place a kiss against the inside of your wrist. You smiled down at him, not returning the affection because you knew you had to get to work. It was always like this when you were applying Jungkook’s makeup, flitting touches that left goosebumps on your skin, and when your face was close enough to his, it was loving whispers.
Sometimes it was promises that left your cheeks flushed and your face warmer than what was comfortable.
You swiped your thumb carefully along his lower eyelid, cleaning up a bit of overly smudged eyeliner because Jungkook thought that when you were doing his eye makeup would be the opportune moment to run his hands up your sides. He knew that you were ticklish. The rest of the boys were already standing around the door, shifting from foot to foot as the adrenaline of their upcoming performance began to take hold. You picked up Jungkook’s earpiece that was dangling from the collar of his shirt, and placed it into his ear. You leaned forward to kiss his temple as you always did, but Jungkook quickly turned his head and caught your lips in a quick kiss.
“Enough of your hormones.” Seokjin wrinkled his nose, pointedly averting his gaze from the two of you.
“You never do that when you put my earpiece in.” Jimin sniffed dramatically.
There it was.
Jungkook tipped his head away from yours, one eyebrow slowly lifting as he looked back at Jimin. Jimin chuckled in response, wordlessly letting your boyfriend know that no harm was meant. You watched Jungkook’s face with the same cautionary awareness of someone within striking distance of a cobra. The tip of his tongue pressed against the side of his mouth, bulging out his cheek for a second, before his mouth curved up in a smile. That was bad.
Then he chuckled along with Jimin. That was worse.

last time i rewrote my book, i had to add a character, a young soldier, for a scene to work better. now i find myself shipping said soldier with all the handsome men in his life ‘oh you got hurt saving the princess, here, have a chair, please’ said handsome man no 2 to my soldier.
if you read anything i write and think it’s gay, it probably is.
The king was shaded beneath a crimson canopy, one leg thrown negligently over the carved wooden arm of his chair. Princess Myrcella and Prince Tommen sat behind him. In the back of the royal box, Sandor Clegane stood at guard, his hands resting on his swordbelt. The white cloak of the Kingsguard was draped over his broad shoulders and fastened with a jeweled brooch, the snowy cloth looking somehow unnatural against his brown roughspun tunic and studded leather jerkin. “Lady Sansa,” the Hound announced curtly when he saw her. His voice was as rough as the sound of a saw on wood. The burn scars on his face and throat made one side of his mouth twitch when he spoke.
ACOK, Sansa I
Wait, wait, wait…
a jeweled brooch and snowy white cloakon a guy that never wears ornamentation except for his Hounds helm!?! He absolutely disdains pageantry and displays of material wealth as much as knighthood itself. This is a pretty large departure from his usual self. He’s likely doing more than just announcing her presence becausehis mouth is twitching, his signature tell he’s thinking something he isn’t saying. That just screams “look at me” and "notice me.” Well, mission accomplished, because she does give him her attention, except she notes those details mostly as being out of character. Sandor’s acceptance of the white cloak now seems to be more about impressing Sansa, rather just resigning himself to the fact he doesn’t have any wife or lands and thus nothing better to do.
He was there when Barristan Selmy was “retired” from the KG and let his cloak fall to the floor. Sansa knelt on that cloak and begged for mercy for her father. That image connecting her to the exemplary reputation of Barristan, a living legend of a knight must have stuck with him. Then he is later presented with the opportunity to replace Barristan, which he’s seen as someone Sansa holds in high regard. He still wants to distance himself though from the other kingsguard by choosing wool instead of silk and satin cloaks and he doesn’t wear the white armor, but there’s still that snappy jeweled brooch! This is how he wants Sansa to see him and deep down how he wants to see himself.
Looking back on his bragging of saving Sansa in the riot to Arya, acting like a true knight for her was probably his proudest moment. It’s why he was kinda salty about her being late to thank him and why he re-wrote history of her singing the song then to culminate the fantasy.
If the story had followed the formula in Sandor’s head, it would have gone like: save the fair maiden < she’s grateful to her hero < perfect opportunity to win her heart < he’s rewarded with more intimacy with her. Life is not a song, of course. Sandor is now set up to have his own struggles with the white cloak just the same as Jaime and Barristan…
-I know jeff died before Hannah but I decided I want to keep him so let’s just pretend sheri’s tape is about something else meaning jeff is still alive
I was working on homework, or at least I was trying to. It had been 2 weeks since Alex had admitted to cheating. I hadn’t really felt like doing anything. I looked terrible but clay was helping me through it. He would tell me to at least show up to school dressed up nice and pretended I’m doing better without him. But as soon as I’d see him in the hallway I’d have to go another way or else I’d end up breaking down right there. I had skipped the only class I had him Credit in these past weeks and I could already tell it would take a toll on my grade so I decided to finally go today after 2 weeks.
“Are you finally going to the class today?” Clay asked as he played with the magnets inside my locker.
“I don’t know Clay i can’t face him alone.” I sighed.
“Jeff has that class I can ask him to sit next to you and distract you or keep an eye on you.”
“I don’t know I don’t really know him.”
“He’s a really nice guy and he’ll understand he probably hates cheaters.” Clay smiled.
“Okay.” I nodded. I watched clay as he walked away and headed towards Jeff Atkins as he took things out of his locker.
They started talking, suddenly clay pointed towards me, Jeff turned to look at me before turning back to clay as he kept listening. When they finished talking Jeff shut his locker and headed towards me.
“Hey, so clay explained everything to me. I’m sorry he cheated on you he doesn’t deserve you.” Jeff gave me a sympathetic smile before hugging me. Clay was right he’s really sweet. The bell rang so we where late he grabbed my hand making me jump slightly from the unexpected gesture.
“Trust me?” He asked, I nodded in response as he laced our fingers together once again and we started walking down the hallways, people staring at us. By the time we got to class everyone was already in there and we where late so everyone turned towards the door as we walked in. The first thing I saw was alex and Jessica sitting together with the rest of there friends, Bryce, Justin and Marcus. I was about to look away when alex looked down from my face to Jeff and I’s hands linked together. I watched his jaw tense up as anger took over his face….oh so that was what jeff was thinking. We walked all the way to the last two seats, a table facing Alex’s. I watched as Jeff pulled a chair out.
“Princesses first.” He winked. I couldn’t help but giggle at the gesture.
The teacher assigned us a project that required two people. Usually it was always alex and I, and maybe out of routine he got up and it seemed like he was looking at me when he suddenly sat back down again and turned to Jessica.
“Don’t look at him just pretend he’s not there.” Jeff whispered in my ear. I nodded before turning to him.
“Partners?” I smiled.
“Definitely. He smiled back.
I got to know jeff more as we worked on the project. He was extremely funny and made me forget about the alex situation for a while, it was nice.
“So I had to walk down the hallways…all the way to my locker in my boxers just because Monty thought it would be funny to steal my clothes…that’s not the worst part….” Jeff continued to talk as he was cutting things. I started laughing when I looked up alex was watching us with a hard grip on his pencil.
“It’s working.” Jeff whispered in my ear as his arm wrapped around me. This caused me to laugh, I watched as alex looked at jeff with pure hatred. When class was over we continued to hang out around the hallways and at lunch. I ended up inviting him to my house after school because he suggested that I needed a small break from all of this and we decided on a movie night.
When we got to my house jeff left to buy snacks while I prepared the movies. Suddenly the bell rang, I ran towards the door.
“You don’t have to knock je-” I looked up to see alex….he had a black eye.
“What happened to your eye?”
“I got in a fight with monty….expecting someone?” Alex sighed, alex wasn’t really the fighting type, he was actually the guy who broke fights up…especially monty’s fights.
“Jeff we where having a movie night.” I swallowed thickly. I couldn’t even face him.
“Like a date?” Alex looked hurt.
“You should leave.” I tried shutting the door as my eyes started watering. He put his foot in before I could shut the door.
“I need to talk to you.” Alex sighed.
“There’s nothing to talk about alex.” By now tears where running down my cheeks. Suddenly jeff’s car pulled up and he jumped out right away.
“Leave her alone she doesn’t want to talk haven’t you messed up enough.” Jeff glared at him as he walked towards us.
“Who the fuck are you tell me whether I can or can’t talk to her.” Alex challenged him. I stared at him in surprise, once again alex wasn’t really the violent type. They started shoving each other snapping me back to reality.
“Alex stop!” I yelled. He turned to me. “What’s wrong with you? Just showing up here and starting a fight after everything you’ve already done. You’re really changing from the alex I know, first you cheat and now you’re fighting people.” By now I was full on crying. Jeff grabbed my hand and stared leading me inside the house. I watched as alex ran to his car, wow he gave up that quick. Jeff was about to shut the door when alex started running back with something in his hands.
“Y/n just please listen to these…I left a note inside…I’m sorry.” His eyes started watering before he walked away.
“I don’t feel like having movie night anymore.” I turned to Jeff.
“It’s okay…I’ll leave everything I bought in your counter…get some rest okay?” He smiled. I nodded as I stared heading upstairs to my room. I put the box alex gave me down as I snuggled into my blankets. I shifted around unable to sleep before grabbing the box and opening. The first thing I saw was 13 tapes. Then a map and a note neatly tucked in the side. That must be Alex’s note. What does he have to say and why didn’t he just write it instead of putting it on tapes. I ran over to my parents room, they have to have something for me to listen to them on. I shuffled things around in the closet with no luck. I gave up as I stood in the now messy room. Suddenly my eyes landed on a box under the bed. My dad’s high school stuff. I moved aside high school yearbooks and different things as I got to the bottom of the box my eyes landed on it, a Walkman. I ran back to my room leaving the mess behind. I put in the first tape.
“Hey it’s Hannah. Hannah baker. Don’t adjust your….whatever device you’re listening to this on. It’s me, live and in stereo. No return engagement, no encore, and this time, absolutely no requests. Get a snack. Settle in. Because I’m about to tell you the story of my life. More specifically why my life ended. And if you’re listening to this tape you’re one of the reasons why….” I stared at the Walkman in surprise.
I stayed up all night listening to the tapes. When I got to Alex’s I broke down. I didn’t know he had done this and now I understood his sudden behavior. It was now morning, I had fallen asleep while listening to the tapes. I finished the last two as I sat there in my bed emotionless. I grabbed his note and stared reading.
By now you know why I’ve been acting the way I am. I told you I cheated on you because I couldn’t live with actually letting you know what was wrong with me. Truth is i was so distant because I was to busy listening to these tapes, hating myself for everything I caused. I couldn’t just tell you about these because then you’d know I’m the reason Hannah killed herself. You would look at me different, I just know it. I still love you, and seeing you move on so fast with Jeff, it makes me hurt even worst. I’m sorry for lying. I got in a fight with Monty, he heard about me “cheating” he was being an asshole, saying things about you, about us and I could take him talking about me but not about you. I’m sorry for fucking up. I’m sorry for hurting you, stay with jeff, he’s a good guy you deserve him. I’m sorry- alex
I stared at it confused. I had to go see him. I ran around the house collecting my stuff as I slipped my shoes on my phone buzzed on the coffee table. I walked over to it.
Jeff: y/n it’s alex
I quickly grabbed it.
What about him?
Jeff: I heard he’s in the hospital, a gun shot wound
I stared at the message as I started hyperventilating.
“No no.” I started sobbing my legs felt weak causing me to fall on the floor. I watched the 3 dots indicating jeff was typing.
Jeff: I’ll be there in a minute we’ll go to the hospital
If only I’d been there for him, If i would’ve known what was going on, it’s all my fault.
