If you think I’m here for the lady heroes, you’d be 110% correct.
These are some of my faves that I keep right next to my bed for easy access:
Enchanted Forest Chronicles by
Patricia C. Wrede. These
probably the first books I ever read with a kick-ass female protagonist,
and Cimorene and the gang will forever hold a special place in
my heart and bookshelf.
- Nimona by Noelle Stevenson. I guess technically she’s a
villain, what with the murder and destruction and everything, but,
to be fair, the system was corrupt in the first place so… I don’t
know, but I love her with all my soul.
Save Yourself (Volume 1) and Princeless: Short Stories by Jeremy Whitley and Co. I
AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW. Or if you’ve read it,
you probably do. It’s just so beautiful and hilarious and amazing and I need to read the rest right now (if only I
weren’t so broke sigh).
Sirens of San Francisco by
Jacquelin de Leon. A story
about a girl gang that is beautiful and violent- oh so
I’m not that big a fan of violence but when it’s against
misogynistic assholes, bring it on.
Beware the Kitten Holy (Volume
1) by Noelle Stevenson, Grace Ellis, Shannon Watters, and Brooke A.
Allen. Funny and cute and
LGBT inclusive- my friend and I were dying over Molly
and Mal (THEY’RE SO CUTE OH MY GOD).
