SO LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT HOW FUCKING GREAT THIS MOMENT WAS.
Saphir blames everything on Usagi existing and that’s something that Usagi actually does struggle with sometimes, that the Silver Crystal’s existence causes all this war and fighting and people getting hurt because of her. Of course it strikes a nerve with her, because she sometimes feels like this is her fault, that being this special, super powerful person just attracts all this danger and, if it weren’t for her, they could have led peaceful lives.
Her tears and her confusion in that moment, when Saphir tries to kill her, make me love her more, because it’s absolutely understandable.
But let’s also remember how the Silver Crystal works: When your heart is in turmoil, then it won’t work. When your heart is firmed up and you believe in yourself, that’s when Usagi is at her most powerful.
We can see the sparks being given off by her compact, we see the warm glow around her stopping Saphir in his tracks, we see her just light that room the fuck up with her power.
Because her heart is strong and solid and she fucking knows what she’s about in that moment: This is not her fucking fault, this is not the Silver Crystal’s fault, it’s not bad, and fuck you for trying to make her think that it was.
She’s here to protect people, the Silver Crystal is a good thing, it helps people and lets her save lives. And Saphir can go fuck himself to trying to make her doubt her own self-worth, she’s come a long way to get where she is and she now has the strength to stand firm under this kind of pressure, when crunch time hits, Usagi’s stronger than she could have ever realized at the start.
How come no one brings up the fact that Saphir looks like Mamoru? I mean… Maybe it’s this weird attraction I have for bad guys or something but, fuck, seriously? The story should have been Sapher kidnapping Usagi, not Dimande, it would just be more interesting, I think.
