His Majesty King Abdullah II on Saturday opened the World Economic Forum (WEF) on the Middle East and North Africa at the Dead Sea, in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah.
The forum is held under the theme “Empowering Generations into the Future”, with the participation of more than 1,100 public and private sector officials as well as political and business leaders from more than 50 countries.

HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and TRH the Princesses, offered, on Wednesday in the Royal Residence “Dar Essalam” in Rabat, an iftar in honor of French President Emmanuel Macron and his spouse Mrs. Brigitte Macron.
Today, on 25 June 2016, Alexandra Knatchbull, Lord Mountbatten’s great granddaughter, and Thomas Hooper, an entrepreneur, tied the knot. Among the guests were Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Charles, Prince of Wales, Anne, Princess Royal, Patricia Knatchbull, 2nd Countess Mountbatten of Burma, Queen Sofía of Spain, King Constantine II and his wife Queen Anne-Marie of Greece and Prince Hassan bin Talal and his wife Princess Sarvath al-Hassan of Jordan.
Members of the extended Moroccan Royal Family attended the henna party for the wedding of Prince Moulay Rachid (the brother of the King) to Lalla Oum Keltoum. Among the guest at today’s ceremony was Shekiha Mozah of Qatar.
“The henna ritual, which is basic for the Moroccan wedding ceremony, was attended by members of the illustrious royal family and several national and foreign guests in an atmosphere marked by choreographies by troupes of popular arts.
Amid ululations and prayers to bless this joyful moment, the henna was put on the palm of Lalla Oum Keltoum.
Afterwards and in keeping with tradition, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and Lalla Oum Keltoum were carried in the Ammariya (a traditional large white chair) in an atmosphere marked by cheers for His Royal Highness
The procession carrying the Ammariya toured the esplanade of the Royal Palace. Jubilation was in the air and people were rejoicing and praising the Prophet.”

The ceremony, which was attended by Their Highnesses the Princes and Princesses, started by verses of the Holy Quran recited by HRH Princess Lalla Khadija.
HRH the Princess gave afterwards a speech before the Sovereign wherein she expressed, on her behalf and that of her classmates, great honor and joy for HM the King’s benevolence and solicitude for this ceremony.
This year was marked by intense extra-curricular activities, added HRH Princess Lalla Khadija, noting that she and her classmates were able to visit major scientific and cultural events, including those organized on the sidelines of the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP22), held in Marrakech.
HRH the Princess expressed, on this occasion, her determination to continue efforts to live up to the confidence of the Sovereign.
later on, HRH Princess Lalla Khadija and her classmates staged artistic performances in Arabic, French, Spanish, English, Russian and Chinese, highlighting the opening up of Morocco, its African vocation and the deep and sincere love that all Moroccans has for their motherland.
Afterwards, HM the King handed the “Prize of Excellence” to HRH Princess Lalla Khadija.
The Sovereign also handed congratulatory awards to Lilia Meziane, Marwa Abousfiane and Hiba-Amal Waled, as well as the “Tableau d'Honneur” award to Nisrine Saber.
The ceremony was attended by head of government, Saad Eddine El Othmani, and minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mohamed Hassad.
Princess Lalla Khadija of Morocco (born 28 Feb 2007 in the Royal Palace in Rabat) is the second child of Mohammed VI of Morocco and his wife, Princess Lalla Salma. Lalla Khadija’s elder brother is Moulay Hassan, Crown Prince of Morocco. In honor of her birth, the King granted a royal pardon to thousands of prison inmates.

30/8/2016: King Abdullah II and Queen Rania received outstanding students, who obtained the highest scores in the General Secondary Certificate Exam (tawjihi), and commended their achievements. Prizes and gifts were awarded to honour the top academic achievers at the level of the Kingdom.
At the same reception, Their Majesties also received members of the Jordanian Olympic mission. He
expressed his pride in the level of Jordan’s participation in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, where the Kingdom won its first ever Olympic gold medal.
The king bestowed upon Abu Ghaush and his coach Faris Al Assaf the King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein Medal of Excellence of the first order for “this historic sports achievement”.
