“A Certain Doom”
Is it possible, could it be, that the inevitable can somehow be… avoided? Rick and Andrea have a tough decision to make.

I’ve Read Secret Empire #0 With My Own Eyes. I’m Boycotting Marvel. Movies & All. Here’s Why.

I have read Secret Empire #0 with my own eyes; and while none of the truly offensive stuff that got leaked here or there, implied and spoiled is in this specific issue there is already more than enough in this issue alone for me to call it a day with the company.
First, yes the Nazis had won World War II but that part actually doesn’t matter to something else that happens in that scene that has massive implications. Something few people have picked up. Hydra are the Nazis; no more implication, no more tip toeing around it the characters clearly state “The allies are going to change history so that Hydra loses the war” while showing the original Defenders punching soldiers in Nazi uniforms.
All the debate and back and forth is over; Hydra is the Nazi party. Period. End of story.

Fundamentally changing the origin of a creation created by two Jewish artists who both served in World War II (Simon enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII, and Kirby was drafted into the U.S. Army) and was created to show that the Nazi ideal could not win into someone who was truly a Nazi all along and playing a part? Piss off.
Talk about disrespectful, talk about vulgar, talk about cheap. With the world the way it is, the rise of far right parties

Now at this point you may be wanting to give the Mouse and Marvel the benefit of the doubt by saying ‘Well perhaps they will just snap the universe back afterward’, ‘They may be doing it as political commentary’ or ‘They are showing there is lots of brainwashing and cosmic cube rewriting so it isn’t really the characters.’

Let’s address all three of those points and show how if any of them are true it will make things even worse.

First off let’s talk about political commentary idea. Facists are taking over the US. Well duh.  There is a big problem with this being a political commentary concept. Those that wouldn’t support Captain America being a Nazi and taking over the US already know that is bad; we don’t need to be told.
What about the people who would love the idea of Captain America pushing a Nazi like agenda onto the US? Well all this book does is strengthen their ideals no matter what the end result of the story is now.
The President of the United States constantly says that things that show he is wrong is fake news, or lies with no proof to back it up and believe him. Steve Bannon, a powerful man even if he is a shell of his former self is in the White House and owns a highly popular and quoted propaganda machine called Brietbart. Everything that proves him wrong or makes him look bad is either a conspiracy, a lie or a plot by the ‘global elites’ (read as: Jewish). Fox News dismisses things just by saying; “It didn’t happen.” and people believe it. In Europe they are electing far right parties with pretty solid majorities.
Do you know what happens if you pull the rug out from under these people and say “Nope Cap was wrong all along! Here is the anti-Hydra, anti-hate ending!”? Either they will simply reject the ending as Marvel chickening out, or more likely these groups will wave their flags and hold up copies of this book screaming how the ‘global elites’ forced Marvel to change. Then these poisoned adults will turn it into an object lesson for their kids about the power and danger of the ‘global elites’. These people believe that Sandy Hook was a false flag operation, that Hillary Clinton runs a child sex market out of a pizza place and all sorts of other garbage people like Bannon, and Alex Jones spews.
  Talk about dangerous.

Magneto fighting for the Nazis, Sharon Carter joining Captain America, and other events may in the end be brainwashing. Sharon Carter is escorted off the bridge of the heli-carrier and Steve says he will make her understand later. Later covers and preview blurbs indicate that she fights with him and is in love with him as she always has been.
Will the woman who would rather be dead than not fight Hydra fighting even after Cap reveals himself flip her entire set of principals in under an hour? (As by the time the fight for Washington she is on his side and they arrive over Washington at the end of this issue) or is it more likely that Steve will just have her brainwashed or rewritten?
If it’s the former then, wow talk about character assassination; if it is the latter then…the comic will go out of its way to have a man brainwash or rewrite a woman so that she will love him regardless of what she wants, believes or desires.
What type of shit show are you writing to have your audience rooting for character assassination?
  Talk about vulgar.

Hey, hey let’s give them the benefit of the doubt for one second. Maybe the cosmic cube will blink and it will all have been a lie, or a dream or something.
Meaning that all the terrible, offensive covers, character assassinations, deplorable rewrites and who knows what else is yet to come didn’t mean anything and never happened. All this horrible offensive stuff was just ‘shock marketing’ and a ‘PR stunt’. To get people talking about Marvel stuff just as Marvel movies are coming out.
Talk  about pointless. (At it’s politest)

So I am boycotting Marvel with the following exceptions; the last issue of Nova, and any Heroclix traited as Runaways for Mitch though those will represent past events and will be bought second hand so Marvel gets none of my money directly.
Everything else is a big nope. No movies, no Clix packs, none of it. As a person giving Marvel the best benefit of the doubt this book is dangerous, vulgar, and potentially pointless. I don’t need to see their movies, or read their comics, or buy their branded merchandise.
BY THE WAY if you see the movies without buying the comics you are still giving Marvel money and telling them you want more Marvel comics stuff. It says “No matter what you do in the comics that makes me so mad or upset I won’t buy them doesn’t matter cause you will still get my money anyhow.”

I am not expecting anyone else to boycott and if you choose to or not to; you do you. I’m just telling you what I will be doing and why. Besides if Marvel finds some magical way to pull this out of the fire I can always see Guardians 2 or Spider-Man or whatever later…these aren’t things that will receive one time showings. My life doesn’t end if I don’t see them on the big screen.

P.S. We had secret Hydra people really run the US already it was called Winter Soldier.

Looks like Argila, Voldo and Tao will be on the cover of vol. 23, which means we finally have canon colours for them! here’s a small preview of the cover posted by Hana to Yume on their twitter, along with the cover of the illustration booklet. The quality isn’t very good, but it’s just enough to see what our cast looks like in colour.

Remember today is the last day to pre-order the limited edition of vol. 23 that comes with the illustration booklet!

Valiant Previews: IMMORTAL BROTHERS: THE TALE OF THE GREEN KNIGHT #1 – On Sale April 12th!

It’s winter at King Arthur’s court in Camelot! The monstrous Green Knight has appeared before the Round Table with no armor, a gigantic axe, and a challenge. He has come to insist that the weaker knights participate in a friendly “winter’s game” where anyone can strike him once with his axe, but on one condition: That the Green Knight can return the exact blow in one year’s time. King Arthur has agreed to face the mysterious knight himself, but the Round Table’s youthful and most gallant champion, Sir Gilad, takes up the challenge to protect his king. Much to the court’s surprise, the Green Knight doesn’t flinch as his head is struck clean off…only to pick it up himself and warn Gilad that he is fated to receive the same blow before the year is out. Now, Gilad – the Eternal Warrior – must solve the mystery of who the Green Knight is before his hour at the axe comes to pass! But first, he’ll need to find some help…in the form of his own immortal brothers – Armstrong and Ivar – who shall be united once more!
