Here's how a poor 6th grader(me) got paid in public school during one quarter of the school year.

In Sewing Class, the teacher only taught basic stitching. She then left us to do whatever. My mom, being poor, couldn’t afford to get me a lot of clothes, so it was always sewing our own and fixing holes and tears. I was the only person with experience and I wanted to make my mom a decorative pillow because I would be using the school’s supplies and got to keep what I made.

I get the room full of fabrics and take the black cloth. Then the dark green cloth. I grab a piece of chalk from the black board, and start sketching a rose on the center of the black fabric I had cut up. It took most of the class to embroider the fabric. Sewing the pieces together was easy then.

Everyone decided pillows were the thing. That and small purses. And what was I asked?

Embroider their shit so they can look good in the eyes of their parents.

I demanded payment.

I got money, people’s lunches, debts for some to buy me cheese filled pretzels at the snack bar. The girl who was always selling gum even gave me a free pack of gum each time. I once got someone’s unused Hall Pass.

The only good thing that happened in 6th grade tbh.

Stole this quote from RWmagazine today to finally do my race recap.

It was…hard…but PERFECT!!!
The first half marathon felt amazing and surprisingly easy although I ran a tough pace and finished the first half in ~ 1:47ish which is a half marathon PR for me. The weather was great, the people were great and did a wonderful job at supporting us! Some screamed things like “Power woman!!” and “Go, girl!!!” and all the other nice things. I loved it so much 💕

It got tough after 26-28km and I needed to slow down to a 5:30-5:40 pace. But it was okay especially because I was still in time to finish sub-4h which was my A-goal. I guess the 500 calories I took with me to fuel this race were not enough. My legs got tired and I kind of hit a (small) wall. But I managed to motivate myself: “This is the perfect race, the perfect weather and there are so much supportive people out there…it’s what you’ve trained for. YOU can do it! Don’t give up now. You’re almost there. YOU’RE RUNNING A freaking (fast) MARATHON!”
And I did. I finished tired but happy and strong. In 3:45:30. Almost half an hour faster than my first marathon and 35 minutes faster than my second. Not even 15 minutes away from a BQ. Holy moly.

I got my medal, drank some water, ate pretzels, a cereal bar and a banana and hugged my family. I was (and I’m still) so euphoric. Marathon running is the best.

PS: Find my marathon medal. It might be hidden in my lovely running shoes.

Our final four’s all filled out already.

felt like i overate a little in the evening, but i went for a long walk / jog around my neighborhood while listening to an audiobook earlier in the day so perhaps it evened out. it was a good day anyway.
my hips are a pretty sore now but it feels.. healthy?

Low blood sugar and huge overeat

So I had this really bad blood sugar low this afternoon. I don’t know why but it’s probably due to stress and not sleeping too well the last couple of days (also due to stress). Cause I was so hungry I ended up eating 6 soft pretzels and a bar of chocolate, some muesli, carrot cake and loads of other shit. That will put me at a total calorie count of 4128. Yes I overate by 2300kcal. Yes that would mean gaining 0.7lbs but I don’t really care. Tomorrow I’ll be back on track and on Monday I’m going to fast again. It happens and really guilty about it won’t help. I have to accept it and move on, not like the last times.

anonymous asked:

Hey Chris! I was wondering what a typical day of eating would look like for you on race days? It's so hard for me to figure out what to eat because the timing is so weird with races... especially with doing two or more events in track. Thank you!!

Hey anon!!! Okay so, you’re asking about track? Although my days look pretty similar on XC race days and track race days, they differ a bit! Normally if I’m racing later in the day, I’ll tend to stick to a breakfast like oatmeal + banana + coffee, and then lunch, things like a PB & J/PB & banana on a bagel/whole grain bread, Greek yogurt, an apple…things to snack on like trail mix, almonds, pretzels, bars, rice cakes, carrots! I try to just stay on the safe side and eat things I’m used to and that I know won’t mess with my stomach :)

“Where did all those bruises came from?”,“Let me take care of you.”,“You’re not okay.”,“Why did you do it? Tell me.” Reader + Kylo, or Frank Castle! <3

i’m such a sucker for frank castle lately, so i’ll do him! <3

Frank + “where did all those bruises come from?” + “you’re not okay.”

warnings; slight mention of abuse.

a/n; a little longer than usual, but it’s frank and i love him

Every night at around midnight, Frank Castle frequented at the shitty bar you worked at. And to be completely honest, you had grown quite fond of the man, as he had of you.

There’s a shitty bar that’s a street down you take him to, it may be old and a the crowd may be a bit sketchy, but you’re assured by Warren that he doesn’t care; as long as he’s in your company, it doesn’t matter where you are.

You take him a little towards the back where there a couple booths, away from the usuals who are already a little buzzed and arguing about the mundane football game displayed on the tv. Warren shrugs off his leather jacket, before leaving to go grab some drinks; promising to be quick. You take this opportunity to shoot a quick text to Jean, peering over your shoulder just to make sure he’s still over there.

Currently dying, because I’m on a semi-date with Warren!

It doesn’t even take a full minute for Jean to reply, excitement evident.

If you don’t AT LEAST make it to third base, i’ll be VERY disappointed. I didn’t raise you to be a quitter!

You chuckle quietly, face palming yourself at the text.

We aren’t in high school anymore, I’m sure I can control my hormones! (you didn’t even know me until seventh grade, shithead!)

Quit texting, and hop on that!

Ridiculous Chocolate Bark

Just in case you ran out of Christmas cookies but are still hungry, this is one of the batches of chocolate bark I made this year for Christmas gifts. The inspiration for this candy bark was that I didn’t want to waste a semi failed batch of toffee that ended up with a soft consistency, so I repurposed it into this. This is basically fused chocolate, pretzels and candy, there’s no actual cooking involved, just some melting and cooling back down. It’s ridiculously easy and delicious with the combination of crunchy salty, & sweet. Everyone I gave to to loved it so much. I know Christmas is over, but this is a nice gift for a birthday or any day. Make it for yourself and keep it in the freezer.

Heat oven to 325. Generously butter a cookie sheet. Sprinkle with semi sweet chocolate chips, store bought pretzels, any toffee or peanut brittle you have, broken up Skorr bars, white chocolate chips, coarsely chopped caramels, and whatever nuts you like. This would be amazing with pistachios. Place the cookie sheet in the oven about 5 minutes, keep an eye on it, and your nose too, to make sure it doesn’t burn. Remove it once you see the first signs of melting about 5 minutes. Set on counter to start cooling.

While it cools, melt 1 bag dark chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon coconut oil for 10 to 30 seconds in the microwave, check every 10 seconds or so to make sure it doesn’t seize up. Place in a squeeze bottle and drizzle it all over the candy and pretzels. This is the fun part. You might want to scrape the bottle at the end to get it all out. Gently lay parchment on top and put the cookie sheet in the freezer to harden. Break apart & serve. Yum!

What’s in Your Bag: Witch Edition

Apparently everyone liked my post about all the junk I carry. This is what’s in my witch bag/purse now (8/‘16). Keys, cigarette case and lighter, darning and tapestry needles, granola bar, pretzels, jolly ranchers, hand sanitizer, perfumes, make up, clippy guy. Pen case, loyalty cards, wallet, mints, more mints, gum, candy cane, cuff links, lighter, pendant, the deck bag I literally ripped apart, bullet journal, antiquarian tarot, 3 loose pens, a bag of plugs that are too small, a tea light, amethyst cluster, alligator clip, bobby pin, scissors, jar for herbs on the go.

I took out all the tissues and crumbs. Bag and wallet were thrifted. I need help. I am Mary Poppins.

What’s in your witch bag??? Tag me so I can see!
