“Alt-right” Neo Nazi Richard Spencer recently opened an office of his white supremacist think tank the National Policy Institute in Alexandria, Virginia. Join us as we will rally in Market Square in Old Town Alexandria, right down the street from their new office building. We’re working on finalizing a program of speeches and performances from local political leaders, activists and artists. We are deeply committed to fostering intersectional resistance and an intersectional program for this event — so if you are a resident of D.C., Virginia or Maryland and are a member of a marginalized group and want to speak out against Richard Spencer, the neo-nazi “alt-right” or any other issue important in your community, please send this event a message.

I love the Humans are Weird, Space Australia, Space Orcs thing so ive been thinking about the whole humans are loyal and hard working and how aliens definitely want a human on their team. (I cant find the source,) and i started thinking…. are humans like the dogs of space??

Think about it. Once a human spills their pack bond all over the crew, they would basically lay down their lives to protect them or help them. Do anything for them.

Imagine, the crew is exploring a planet or something and after the human crewmate has gushed over every adorable life form and ate all the berries off of bushes and given all the alien crew members the equivalent of a heart attack.

The aliens realize they’re being followed. They assume its the indigenous life forms of the planet staying back and observing them. But suddenly the human is on edge, and alert and sticking close to the crew members.

The alien crew members know that the human instinct is better than most. They start to move back toward the ship before anything can escalate. The things watching them attack. The human tries to protect the crew members as best as he could but slowly all the other alien crew members are captured and the human got away because of their quick reflexes, strength and perseverance.

He returns to the ship but hes hurt. Broken bones and blood lose. But nothing compares to loosing his team mates. His pack mates.

He stops the bleeding, sews himself up. He finds the tracking device and looks up the position of his crew they’re all in the same area. The human waits for dark to fall then goes for the attack.

The crew members are prepared for death. Theyve made peace with it. At least their human got away. Maybe he could have contacted help. Maybe he ran away, its what they would have done. It was the logical option after all.

Then they hear the screams of the enemies. Blood curdling cries and horrible sounds reach their hearing orifices and the aliens have no idea what it could be. Something even worse than the enemies, thats for sure. The aliens stay quiet, and after awhile no more sounds reach them. Its quiet. Quiet, but for a slight beeping.

The beeping gets louder, and closer and the aliens hold their breath until they see a small, familiar shadow.

Their human! He tracked them, and defeated the enemy, all on his own! He flashes his teeth in what is known as a grin. He releases his crew mates and once they’re all released the human passes out from the exertion. Only to wake up onboard the ship and the aliens are all surrounding him because their handbook says humans should wake up surrounded by familiar faces when distressed.

Temerian Falcon by Servia D.

Si vis pacem, para bellum

“If you want peace, prepare for war”.

“…A free and independent Temeria is no more. A dark-faced sun looms upon her every rampant. Yet we Temerians live on. And always will. As long as folk believe, the usurper will forever peer over his shoulder in fear. For in the shadows lurks not one dagger, but the power of a nation of daggers, waiting to deal justice’s blow.”

~ © “What shall become of Temeria?..”

The falcon represents vision, freedom, and victory. Hence, it also symbolizes salvation to those who are in bondage whether moral, emotional, or spiritual.

Will I ever stop drawing these 4? Spoiler: no

*** Translation for non-latin speakers
”United strength is stronger“
Noct: “Through hardships, to the stars”
Ignis: “Love conquers all”

Gladio: “If you want peace prepare for war”

🌌Lance’s Anti-Negativity Spell Jar🌌

A jar spell inspired by Lance from Voltron: Legendary Defender, to repel negative thoughts and feelings of self doubt.

Materials:

  • A jar.
  • A slip of paper and a pencil.
  • Rainwater (Cleansing, Washing Away Obstacles)
  • Black Dye (Protection, Repels Negativity)
  • Carnation Essential Oil (Strength)
  • Rose Essential Oil (Self Love)
  • Hickory Twig (Endurance)
  • A blue candle.
  • A white candle.
  • A black candle.
  • Gold Star Glitter (Happiness, a job well done!)
  • Blue Glitter (Healing, Peace)

Preparation:

  • Light your candles.
  • In your jar combine your rainwater, rose and carnation oil, black dye (enough for the water to be entirely black), and glitter.
  • Stir everything well with the Hickory twig before setting aside.
  • With the pencil and paper, write down the negative thoughts you have been having lately.
  • Using the blue candle, allow the paper to burn away.
  • Close the lid of the jar and use the wax from the blue, black, and white candles to fully seal it.
  • Swirl the glitter around and watch it whenever you feel sad and know that there is still hope out there.
  • Store the jar in a dark place whenever you’re not using it.

Notes:

Burning the paper with your negative thoughts represents them being out in the open. When working with flames I recommend having another source of water nearby in case something goes wrong.

SnK 91 Thoughts

Kid wakes up.

Kid spies with his little eye a bird.

Kid immediately comprehends the freedom of having wings.

Kid is stuck with the Marleyans, so instead of being passionately inspired to rise up and reclaim humanity’s freedom, is being raised into a warrior that will march off to the lands championed by soldiers who fly through the air bearing wings, and murder them all for the good of his people.

Kid’s fucked.

🔥 like, elrond? Tell me about elrond

While I don’t remember if I said it myself, I believe my reblogs and tags have indicated my opinion that Tolkien’s wording as well as basic extrapolation strongly suggests Elrond closely identified with his Numenorean kin, but lemme try for something more actually contrary:

This is a prime example of how funny a thing fanon is, but when I read the Silm I was totally insulated from all fandom input and so my ideas about Elrond and Elros as a set of twins wound up very different from fanon. Like, there’s this idea of Elrond being very scholarly and quiet and reserved and unadventurous, especially in contrast to Elros. Which I did not pick up on in isolation at all because, what stuck out to me about Elrond when I read LOTR as a kid was his…ridiculous level of bluntness about how difficult or dangerous something will be or how much is riding on it (I was SO AMUSED at that bit where he’s just, to Aragorn, “lol if you don’t succeed everyone is doomed no pressure!!11”) And that thing where he was simultaneously like gently, “there’s no reasonable way this is ever gonna work” and “we absolutely have to do this” which I didn’t really have the framework to talk about until I read the Athrabeth, but which still struck me very strongly.

And then in the Silm, there’s that idea of, well Elrond became a loremaster, while Elros became a king. But, I imagined, post-apocalyptic loremastery with no stable institutions would be like, exploring this strange ME to collect or write down the lore and stories and history from unknown peoples or from the survivors of Beleriand; whereas Numenor is similar in its unexplored newness but is this specially prepared hallowed peaceful island, and I thought, the first king of such a place would be a visionary, a planner, a builder - a dreamer even! And I guess, it’s often mentioned that Elrond is a healer? But I barely remembered this because he’s not mentioned as a healer until the 3rd Age, whereas Elros…well, one of my first thoughts about Elros was to flash back to the first time I read ROTK, and that line “the hands of the King are the hands of a healer,” where I was like, “since when?” And once I wrapped my head around who Elros was, I was like “oh! since then?”

And in just stitching things together, I was reminded of that ridiculawesome Mary Sue description from the Hobbit: “He was as noble and as fair in face as an elf-lord, as strong as a warrior, as wise as a wizard, as venerable as a king of dwarves, and as kind as summer.” So many different things, and so much overreaching – to live two lives even, or at least, to live one immortal life to the brim! And I feel like, especially given that his choice to become immortal means being separated from Elros by death forever, there’s a strong element of, “what’s the point of being immortal if I don’t take advantage of having all the time in the world?” And so my impression of younger!Elrond was the guy who is like, learn ALL THE THINGS! Become immortal in order to have all the time to do all the things and see all the things, because the world is so great and there’s so much of it…

Ofc this is Tolkien so everyone goes to hell and there’s a ton of war and really, chilling in a green valley and innkeeping is the A+ life, though also over the ages, it becomes more desperate, “what was the point of becoming immortal if I don’t use it” regarding Sauron and the rings, and the Akallabeth, and the Dunedain. But also…there’s this impression in fandom, and a bit in the text too, that Elros was like, an ideal human? Or, no, not the ideal in the sense of being better than other humans, but having an ideal appreciation of human mortality because he chose it freely. I love that, and I think the same would apply to Elrond, for elves. There’s that other description of him in LOTR: “in his face was the memory of many things both glad and sorrowful.” And…isn’t that close to the ideal for immortality? The focus is usually on how immortality sucks because of all the endless inescapable sorrow, but immortality also means unlimited opportunities for gladness and glad times if you can keep them in your memory, like he apparently has. Those fifteen chieftains! The line “both the sweet and the bitter” is applied to choosing mortality in LOTR, but it applies to immortality just as well.

But anyway, the point is, 2nd age Elrond, literally the most carpe diem of elves! Even though he has unlimited…diems…to…carp…I don’t speak latin at all guys.

anonymous asked:

I just would like to vent my frustration over the loss of both Timeless and Once this week. I feel like I've been punched in the gut. I'm absolutely devastated over timeless. How is it possible that something amazing like timeless gets cancelled but they pick up something like Taken. I mean I know it's a business but I'm angry and bitter.

Like, I am at peace with OUAT ending because it’s an amazing but obviously aging show that has run its natural narrative course and then a bit, had six seasons, and was pretty much at its terminus anyway. In fact, it would be smarter at this point to let canon go gracefully, rather than trying to milk a s7 without its leading lady/emotional center. (And I think they should have planned for six seasons all along and let the fans know in advance that this was the final season so we could prepare/be at peace with it, rather than springing the SURPRISE, THIS IS IT FOR THE SHOW AS YOU KNOW IT! on us a week before the finale – not blaming anyone, but that’s essentially what happened.)

But Timeless??!

It’s a show in its FIRST season, was very well received and reviewed, had an already-devoted fanbase, was an above/average performer once views on all platforms were taken into account (and it had a Timeslot of Death, because really who is still up to watch live at 10pm on a Monday night?) It had a great brot3 (the time team) at its center, and at least three ships that fans loved and which coexisted harmoniously and happily without any hate (Lyatt, Garcy, Riya). It was diverse. It was refreshingly honest. It was fun and didn’t take itself too seriously. It was nowhere near done with the story it had to tell and the opportunities it could explore. In short, IT HAD SO MUCH MORE TO DO.

And NBC canceled it while picking up a cheaper, shittier, in-house production with lower ratings, because… the bottom line, I guess?

If you’re not going to invest in/develop popular shows, even if they start out a little uneven, don’t be surprised when network TV is reduced to (even more of) a barren wasteland that nobody watches, and all the good stuff is only available on premium/paying subscription services. Which obviously is unfair because not everyone can pay to access content, but which has been sort of made the case/forced on the viewing public if network TV can’t move on from its ancient, cumbersome, and not-really-that-informative Nielsen ratings system. Because only a small percentage of the TV-watching population has a box, and because very few people sit down and watch a show live on first airing. In short, the entire model has become obsolete, and good TV is suffering for it.

So basically, the only way this made sense as a business decision was because it was cheaper, in the short term, for NBC to pick up a shittier in-house production. They could absolutely have invested in and grown and expanded Timeless’ already passionate fanbase (I mean, Kripke’s other show is Supernatural, which has been running for 84 years and still has devoted fans… I’m just saying). But nah? There is still a mathematical possibility that somewhere else picks it up, but… yeah, if wishes were horses, and all that.

In short: Fuck ‘em. I hope they step on legos every day for a year.
