Reasons Why Killer Whales Shouldn't Be Kept Captive

Last night I spent around an hour reading up about killer whales in captivity. Note that I will NEVER refer to a killer whale as a “Shamu,” which is the name of a captive killer whale who died in the 1960’s. It is a marketing ploy used by SeaWorld advertised as an “affectionate” name for the creature. I will refer to it by its proper name: the Killer Whale (which is kind of a misnomer) or the orca. Here is what I learned about why we shouldn’t keep killer whales in SeaWorld or other aquariums:
