So I’m a gay trans guy, and my parents are hell lgbt-phobic. I’m 18, and they’re trying to to control my life- won’t even let me get a haircut- and trying to block me from pride. Here’s the thing: I already bought the tickets and rented the hotel room. They threw out my main binder, but I had expected them to and bought three backups- one of which is hidden in my secret bag in the purse thy make me carry, one of which is in my closet, and one of which is hidden in my car with the stuff I’m leaving with when I get a place to stay. All my pride patches and pins are In my purse too. I wanted to share bc I’m proud of being a smart guy, and I’m proud of planning ahead, and I’m proud that I’m getting out, and I’m proud to be me- even if they aren’t proud of me for that.
Don’t let anyone stop you from being who you are.

Pre-T Trans* Guys: Nutrition Tips

To naturally decrease your estrogen levels, you can eat/drink:

  • VEGETABLES: Cauliflower, cabbage, lettuce, broccoli, carrots and anything really green!
  • Citrusy things like oranges, lemons, etc. 
  • Nuts (no pun intended)
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Olives/Olive Oil
  • Avocados
  • Flax Seeds
  • Blueberries
  • Fish


  • Swimming
  • Boxing
  • Biking
  • Cardio

Protein Info:

  • 45-70 g of protein a day is normal for males
  • Protein shakes!! (Soy increases estrogen levels, so if you are vegan and you are using protein shakes, I recommend rice shakes) Remember that with protein shakes, if you do not exercise as much as you’re meant to while you’re drinking them, then the muscle will turn right intofat and for most trans* guys, the fat will distribute itself into your thighs, butt, hips, etc. If you’re looking to lose weight, make sure the protein shake you decide to use is high in protein, but low in carbs and calories.
  • It’s recommended that you take your shake 30 minutes AFTER you work out, if you’re not going to work out one day, take it first thing in the morning

A lot of trans* guys are looking to gain weight, and the best way to do that is to obviously eat a lot of carbohydrates and proteins. They not only boost your energy, but help you achieve the weight you’re hoping for. Remember, decreasing your estrogen levels will help you with muscle mass. Decreasing your stress level will decrease your estrogen levels, thus increasing your testosterone levels and making it easier for you to achieve the body you’re working towards.

Also: Alcohol converts your testosterone back into estrogen, so if you’re a trans* guy who likes to drink, it’s probably not going to help out much!

  • It is okay to not have facial hair, cis men have this problem too.
  • Your small feet and hands are fine, and they don’t make you less of a man.
  • It is okay if you are short - you are small and kick ass!
  • It is okay if you are pre-t and don’t pass.
  • It is okay if you are on T and you don’t pass.
  • You are handsome and strong. You can go through it.
  • You will get the body and voice you want.

You are loved. Remember it.

hey just a quick update uh

not all trans boys are white thin boys with small boobs that pass easily without surgery or testosterone. not all trans boys have chiseled jawlines and slim waists and not all trans boys can cover up their curves. this is a shout-out to all of those trans boys who:

are chubby

have boobs that are too big to bind properly

don’t have defined jawlines

like to paint their nails and are seen as less masculine because of it

aren’t out

have dark skin

have stretchmarks

have muffin tops

are “too hairy”

has trouble passing as “male”

have double chins

have bigger lips

can’t grow lots of hair

are pre-t

are pre-op

who think that any other things make them unattractive because they don’t fit the stereotypical “transgender boy” mold

as if being trans doesn’t make you a minority enough, try being a minority in the trans community. this post isn’t being written to invalidate all of the white trans boys who can easily pass as male. i’m so fucking proud of them. i’m proud of anyone who is able to wake up in the morning, take a shower, and take care of themselves. i love each and every trans boy and if you think that you are any less attractive because you apply to something on the list, you are SORELY mistaken.
