I don't know about PREs but some breeds wont register a horse that comes out in a weird color. It could be DNA verified to have purebred parents and the registry will deny it because they don't want untraditional colors in the gene pool, such as an Arabian with blue eyes. (And I think all purebred Chestnut friesians are denied full registration?)

You can always register the horse as a purebred PRE, and even show him on comfo classes because the breed standard is not closed to any coat colors, as far as I know. I’ve even seen a few pinto PREs!
