pray for danika

Dear Danika,

We never knew each other. We were never close. I knew of you and I’m sure you knew of me, but that was about it.
Despite this, I really have to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I want to thank you for being such a beautifully remarkable individual that people who had previously had not believed in God, have found faith enough to pray to him for you.
I want to thank you for bringing an entire community, and then some, together, to give one another strength and hope and something to fight for.
Thank you, Dankia, for helping so many people understand that even a life short lived is meaningful when it is lived with passion, kindness, and faith.
Thank you Danika. Thank you so incredibly much.
And it is such a shame that we were never friends. But I promise, that when I get to where you’re going, we will be.

This girl from my school is in a medically induced coma. Her name is Danika and I’ve known her since elementary school. She had a really bad asthma attack and she stopped breathing. I’m seeing all these pictures and posts about her and I keep thinking about how young she is, how her life has barely started, and what if she doesn’t wake up. It’s starting to freak me out. I’m just really sad and scared for her and her family. I was wondering if anyone reading this would keep her in your thoughts or prayers or whatever you do.
