13% ABV, lots of cocoa with a hint of vanilla, and some nice coffee & chili pepper notes (mostly on the nose). I have been a little hesitant to try chili pepper beers, but honestly I think this one could even do with a little more chili pepper. Who knew?
Prairie Artisan Ale’s Prairie Bomb Imperial Stout (Picked up at Star Grocery). A 4 of 4. Easily. One of the best imperial stouts that I’ve ever had, and I’m serious. This is hugely boozy, but that all hides behind an immense balanced chocolate and coffee and vanilla profile. Quite a bit of complexity to the chocolate and coffee as well - some lighter fruity notes you get in some coffees are noticeable, and plenty of body to carry it all. The body is nicely thick and smooth (although not too far in the motor oil direction). An incredible beer - if you haven’t had this, you must.
