The sound of clouds

i. Stillness
And hush
Can you hear
No, not the cascade
Of grass blades
Or motoring zing
Of hummingbird wings
Filter, wait
Farther, above.

ii. The tug
Of sky
Gliding through
Guiding you
Bunching your fabric
S-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g you
Into all those shape-shift things
Worth conjuring
Worth imagining.

iii. Heavy in hover
Drunk on too much
Straw-sucked ocean
The grating friction
Graying complexion
Molecular scratch of nails
And chalkboard rain
Hurling out.

iv. Energized
You will see
The connection
Know the surge of power
Realize how the sky
Is so plugged in
So well-grounded
The sound of clouds

v. And you thought
It was all fluff and float
Out-of-the-hat magic
And animal shapes.

A Cautionary Tale

Friends, the Worst Thing happened at work today.

I had Tumblr open in an Incognito window, like I do, and was occasionally clicking over to it while waiting for emails, loading pages, when I needed a brain break. Like I do.

I had been getting Low Mouse Battery warnings (I have a wireless Apple mouse) since yesterday, but they always warn you way early about those things.

I’m on Tumblr, when suddenly a gay porn gif pops up on the screen. I go to click away, but my mouse is out of battery! I hit backspace backspace backspace, but as someone was doing an early penis Friday or SOMETHING it was just more porn! I couldn’t click away!

I thought I was going to die.

Then, in a last surge of power, my mouse gave me a final click to a save email window so I could leave my desk and get batteries without fear of people wandering over by me.

"You are Odin Rossi?"
"Always have been."

If there’s one thing I have learned about comics, sometimes your favorite characters are the ones you don’t know about.
