So I have a question. Since I see you post some saimatsu stuff before, do you really ship them in the game, and why? I was just curious by the way.
I’m a multishipper generally, so I do ship saimatsu in-game! I felt it was really well done, and I enjoyed seeing Kaede and Saihara’s interactions throughout Chapter 1. Any ship that’s based on mutual support and interest I’m usually a pretty big sucker for. Saimatsu is definitely supportive, and based on trust, and there’s no denying they both took an interest in one another—I got attached pretty fast.
As much as I still don’t like the bait-and-switch trick they pulled in Chapter 1, I still appreciate that Kaede remained an important and almost-tangible presence with the rest of the group and particularly with Saihara even after she was killed. Saihara’s feelings for her are an undoubtedly present and important part of his character, and without Kaede, it’s doubtful that he would ever have been willing to continue seeking the truth.
Of course, I have a few particular ways I like to ship it. If I had to pick a particular flaw with what we see in canon, it’s that by performing a bait-and-switch and having Kaede sacrifice herself so early on, there’s an kind of feeling that Saihara latched onto her and she became important to his development—but we know almost nothing about how he would help her development.
Kaede is pretty much fully developed by the time we see her in Chapter 1. That’s why she makes for the “perfect protagonist” figure; she’s almost at the finish line of her character growth arc while many other characters are only at the starting line.
Because of this, I like to think of ways in which saimatsu could potentially develop in a way that’s not strictly just Kaede existing for the sake of Saihara’s development. If she stuck around, I’d like to imagine that Saihara latching on and kind of viewing her in this extremely idealized way would’ve become a point of discussion at some point, and something Kaede herself would have told him wasn’t the whole “truth” of things.
Despite Kaede’s own desire to become someone extremely close to being the perfect protagonist, who is self-sacrificing, cool under pressure, energetic, and a charismatic leader, she’s still a person. She still has flaws. I really like the idea of saimatsu having a potential dynamic of both of them sort of realizing that even if Saihara still has a long ways to go with coming out of his shell and developing, Kaede also has room to develop, and has to be seen as a person rather than just an idol or a symbol.
Saimatsu is a really good ship even from what we see in canon, of course! Given everything we see in FTEs and bonus mode content, as well as Chapter 1, Kaede clearly valued Saihara as someone important and trustworthy, and could certainly open up to him in the way that she wanted to be able to open up to everyone else. I really like the fact that there’s so much potential for growth and trust and support in their dynamic, even if what we see of it is cut relatively short in canon.
‘Elllo, so it hasn’t been a very busy week for me so I actually got to post some stuff this week, but I am stalled on a few post mostly involving The Glass Scientist, since there may be a important stuff happening in the future of the comic, and it may change the context of the post.
That being said, today is my day off! So aside form doing some paperwork and cleaning, I will be working on some post- like drawings and playlist. (I’m mostly trying to find songs for the Society of Arcane Science playlist, its hard to find songs! Does anyone know any good song for this playlist?????)
This is a message to my followers, I know that a lot of my followers are more mutuals than anything but here’s a the thing about me-I CHECK TAGS! Usually when I post things, I leave messages and easter eggs in the tags. Therefore, I assume that when someone reblogs something and don’t leave any tags- they’re keeping it on a normal mutual level. But for the people that DO leave tags or comments, its like leaving me a little thank you note that makes my day so much better (such as the beauty’s that left me these)
Honestly, you all are so wonderful! I truly do want to be closer to my followers! That’s why I love everyone creating their own rogue scientist- it tells me what you as a individual likes- you created the character after all. Perhaps in the near future, I’ll make a little bio of myself so you guys can know more about me, but in the mean time, I want to hear from you guys!
one last note: I realize after reading a few post that I usually make a lot of typos and the reason being is because I usually get on tumblr on my phone so a lot of it get an incorrect autocorrect. It doesn’t happen as much when I use my laptop but it’s harder to type because I accidentally spilt coffee on my keyboard. It is what it is.
too many white ppl not wanting to speak up bc they’re scared of bein ostracized by their white friends…and u know what i’m really sick of? white ppl who never bring up issues on their own. they wait till all the people of color on their twitter feed, on tumblr are discussing something and post a shitty rephrasing of a post a person of color already made and better to seem involved. they try to rehash a point that has been made millions of times to the point where it’s common knowledge and play this off like they’re accomplishing something. you don’t have to teach poc about racism. we fucking know all about it.
y’all are silent 364 days of the year but then when poc are upset about something you decide to chime in with your obligatory white two cents that accomplishes nothing. and you won’t bring this stuff up in front of other white people either. not ever. you’ll listen to the white people around you being openly hateful and you’ll keep your mouth shut. all this talking like you care and then you refuse to confront your racist and hateful white friends because you don’t want them to exclude you or get mad at you. if you care about us why the fuck you want friends like that in the first place?
we can tell when you’re posting shit just to seem like “one of the good ones” and we can tell when you post stuff bc you’re scared the big bad people of color will come for you if you don’t and you’re just trying to cover your ass
After episodes 10-12 we finally got a really good look into
Victor’s thought process and I’d like to talk about a portion of it.
Specifically regarding his experience with grief and the loss of his career/the
life he’d known up until the start of the show.
Victor’s whole life has been about skating. It’s all he’s
ever known. He himself has admitted that it’s not until he gets away from the skating that he’s able to evaluate the bigger
picture, what life and love means for him. But just because he’s found new
purpose in Yuuri does not mean that he doesn’t grieve the loss of the life he’s
known up until now.
After episode 12 you’re probably thinking, “but hey, he goes
back to competitive skating in the end. So what was he grieving if he was
planning that all along?” What I will attempt to prove with this meta is that
Victor actually goes through the entire
grieving process before episode 12. Please give me a listen and I’ll
show you what I mean! (The rest is under the cut due to length and images.)
