I said no to Marion Guthrie’s plan despite having no alternative and at the risk of losing the entire endeavor because I refuse to situate a man in a position where he might interfere one day with my ability to repair things with you.
Blogs that intentionally exclude black characters from their graphics are suspicious as fuck. Especially those who do it because of shipping reasons. Black leads like Finn, Iris, Michonne, Bonnie, ect are so fucking rare in movies and television, and the fact that some people go out of their way to erase them from the narrative is telling. Not wanting to make graphics that revolve around certain characters is perfectly fine. Not liking a character is perfectly fine. But when you make graphics that are supposed to include the entire cast of a film or television show and you go out of your way to make sure the black characters aren’t in it, that’s fucking telling.
It’s like making a post listing all the presidents of the United States and randomly leaving out Obama.
Never allow white fangirls to gaslight you. Your opinions are valid. Your ships are valid. And your criticisms of the racist treatment characters of color receive by the writers and the fandom are valid.
I know some people are sorely disappointed with the ending but I just want to say that I loved it. From Stefan and Lexi seeing each other again. To Caroline running the school with Alaric and Jeremy and getting that donation from Klaus (😉). To Tyler and Vicki watching over Matty Blue Eyes as he forever runs shit. To Bonnie just being completely and utterly A BADASS QUEEN! Yes if I’m nitpicking I would have LOVED to see more Delena. But for me knowing that they got married and Elena lived out her dreams of med school and they were HAPPY AND IN LOVE TIL DEATH DO THEY PART IS MORE THAN ENOUGH. All I wanted is for them to all be happy and at peace, and they were. This show has taught me that even death isn’t the end. That life goes on and as heartbreaking and cruel as it is, it can also be really beautiful and TRULY EPIC. So I just want to say thank you to the cast and everyone I love you all and it has been a truly amazing 8 years I will never forget. You will always hold a special place in my heart
