I have noticeable but not awful acne scars and large pores. It's one of the main causes of my dysphoria along with constant beard shadow. What did you do to help your complexion before Hrt?
I drank lots of water, used Lubriderm lotion every single day and night. I used pore filling cosmetics after some time. NYX makes a pore filler that works really well. I use it on my nose every day on stubborn pores. Also- losing weight and eating healthier helped with just general micro swelling and skin inflammation.
I'm in the market for a new primer, what kind do you use??
I’m using the Elf Poreless Primer right now. I am not sure that I like it though as I think it makes my foundation move around a bit. I would recommend their Blemish Control Primer though. It makes my little sister’s face look a bit clearer (she is going through puberty so pimples are a crisis right now).
I kind of want to try out the Nyx primers (especially Honey Dew Me Up and Pore Filler), but I haven’t had the chance yet.
You should also look according to what skin type you have. I have more oily to combination skin so I can only recommend you something that I think works for my skin type.
It took me about 100 hours to build this mahogany table by hand (with the exception of the cove molding). The base is finished with Osmo oil/wax. The top is finished with candlelight oil, then a sanding sealer, then pore filler, three coats of 50/50 mineral spirits/urethane, three full coats of urethane, and a French polishing buffing compound.
The joinery consists of drawbored mortise & tenons and through wedged mortise & tenons. All hand cut and chopped. All of the curves and heavy chamfers were made with a spokeshave. A 50° pitch smooth plane left the final surface on all flat areas and the spokeshave for the curved.
I have flaky skin after a while with makeup idk what to do its so irritating & itchy! I noticed when I applied my concealer my chin was cracked/flaky. I have oily skin n dry skin.....Help 😕
With the weather getting colder it’s important to switch up your skincare and makeup a bit to keep your skin moisturized and supple!
Don’t forget to have a good skin care routine! Exfoliate to get rid of dry skin, use gentle non foaming/stripping cleansers, mild products with no irritating ingredients.
Your new best friend: Oils.
Facial oils can be applied as moisturizer at night or under makeup in the morning or you can even add a few drops to a pump of your foundation to create a mega hydrating, emollient foundation that will glide over and moisturize any dry patches.
When choosing an oil make sure to choose one that is specifically designed for the face like Jurlique Skin Balancing Oil, Clarins Facial Oil Treatment, Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil, Boots Botanics Facial Oil (drugstore), Antipodes Divine Facial Oil (organic) and OIay Facial Oil (drugstore). Using some cheaper oils or store bought olive oil can clog pores because they have filler ingredients and aren’t always designed to be used on the face. If you do want cheaper options make sure to get a pure oil that is 100% that particular oil, like 100% jojoba oil. Jojoba oil is great for mixing with foundation to make it more creamy and smooth!
You can even use oils to cleanse your skin! Cleansing oils will remove makeup better than most cleansers and won’t strip your skin and make it tight and dry.

A couple of weeks ago I bought NYX’s Pore Filler. So far, it’s even working really well. As you know, I’ve recently started using Make up Forever’s Mat Velvet + Foundation, and, as I’m sure most of you ladies and gentlemen who use Mat Velvet + know, it’s pretty matte and clings to every piece of dry skin and every open pore. It’s a great foundation, but if you don’t have a good base, people are going to know you’ve got makeup on. I have incredibly dry skin so a primer of any kind of needed. I’m also a human and sometimes I have large pores. The Pore Fillet fixes both of these issues. It minimizes pores and smoothed dry skin and creates a smooth surface for makeup application. It also acts as a blurring agent so you can wear it without makeup and use it to smooth out imperfections. It’s also pretty cheap! Which is always nice! I think I paid $12 CAD for it at the drugstore. You don’t get a lot of product which would have to be one of my only complaints but other than that it’s been working great! What are favourite primers and pore fillers? Drop me am ask!
I’m going to try and do more reviews instead of just buying products and showing them to you and then never speaking of them again. I might make one day of the week a review day where I have to post as least one review. Let me know if you guys like this idea! Today I’m going to do a review on Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser that I’ve had a chance to use for a week or two. I’m going to start by saying that I do like this product and I will probably continue to use it but I made sure to kind of make a pros and cons list because there were a few things I wasn’t crazy about. Let’s start with the pros!
-This does actually work! Like I’ve said before I am continually surprised by the quality of Maybelline’s products. For a drugstore brand I would have to say they’re one of the best. This does blur imperfections and fill in lines and pores pretty well and my foundation goes on really nicely with this.
-This is marketed as a pore filler that is good for your skin and won’t clog pores. I don’t know off hand if there are any ingredients that are beneficial to skin but I do know that I haven’t broken out or experienced any irritation because of it.
-I do have quite dry skin and I’ve talked before about how sometimes with my foundation, because it is a matifying foundation, my flakey skin becomes very visible. This has completely solved that problem, even better than some of the higher end primers and pore fillers I’ve tried.
-You actually get quite a bit of product. The tube is pretty big compared to some other products I’ve tried. It’s pretty cheap too so you get a decent amount of product for how much you pay.
-I find this to be a little thick. While it doesn’t clog my pores, I don’t know how it would fare with someone with problematic skin. I’ve found that I only need a very tiny bit (which I guess is kind of a pro) to cover my whole face. If you use too much it feels really greasy and thick.
-The smell of this stuff is atrocious. It basically just smells like plastic. This does make it a little unpleasant to apply if you’re really conscious of it. Good news is that the smell does fade but at first it’s not very nice.
Overall, a great product that I’ve been really enjoying and would recommend you try!
